As a person who has never played Sonic Mania before, I was very excited when I got the chance to play the mobile port today. I heard the criticisms, but I didn't think it was gonna be THAT big of a deal. Now I realized that I can't even jump precisely. Also, I don't know if anyone noticed (I'm writing this before I watch the video) but the physics are also a lot worse. Rolling is just broken, character just stops for no reason.

What'e even more pathetic is that it's not even that hard to enable the Retro Engine's dynamic aspect ratio support for Mania. On PC at least, it's literally as simple as adding a single flag in a settings file.

My phone has a problem that randomly doesn’t let me touch to do… anything, so sometimes I have to reset it. One time I was playing sonic mania for mobile and that happened, when I reopened the game my save file was gone, keep in mind that the game had saved that save file multiples times and I didn’t reset the game when it still hadn’t saved anything.

I didnt really get problems on my phone the sound was fine and i didnt crash one like others might and the visual are fine and im on android it might be of my phone. The prot is a 7 out of 10 i had a nice experience and the video was great

Netflix didn't make the port, it was Lab 40 who made it, and they have no idea what they were doing, lioe in the source code where they leave little notes like "idk", plus it could have been worse, since this was shadow drop a couple months before it officially came out in the Philippines, and there were a lot of bugs and crashes.

Audio choppiness seems to be an iOS only issue, on Android the sound is fine from what I've seen on vids on KZbin of the Netflix port, i have the decomp so i didn't feel like getting the Netflix port

One thing you didn't mention about the decomp mobile port is that, to some extent, it also supports mods. So you have virtually no reason to use the Netflix version

its not a "bad" port. at the very least its disappointing. the menu changes are whatever, but it doesnt affect the gameplay at all. the only complaints you made that i agree with is the screen not reaching the borders, and the sound issues. but both problems are minor nitpicks, i can play mania from GHZ to TMZ and not have any issues

What's even funny about this port is that TMNT Shredder's Revenge is the same as Sonic Mania as they're both modern pixilated games, but TMNT has none of these issues that Mania does 😂. (Both do have Netflix ports)

Mania on Android has a functional touchpad, which actually sucks, is stuttery despite the Samsung dev options fps overlay saying 60fps, and has the horrible picture filtering, but no audio issues on my end. Visual and control issues or audio issues, pick your poison. And I would play the decomp, but it loads my gallery with every single sprite, which seems nitpicky, but I actually use my gallery and it looks bad to just try to find an image of my cat and OH LOOK, MIGHTY THE ARMADILLO.

Yeah, no, sonic mania plus netflix is not and shouldn't be used as an example of netflix's quality, other ports like shovel knight pocket dungeon and shredders revenge run fine, look fine, and play totally fine. Its probably just a sega issue, since they are known for rushing stuff, and the dev team didnt even know how the retro engine worked, my guess is that they didnt even get christian whitehead or simon thomley to help them out, which is very dumb and sad imo.
