I wounded a buck in November here in Eastern Ohio. It was only 18 yards but he was alert and I rushed the shot. I followed sparse blood the entire next day until it ran out. Got tracking dog and he advance the track a little but came up empty. I looked the next next day for almost more 6 hours but never found him. I think it hit high in the backstrap but can't be sure. It really messed me up for a while.

I'm in Ohio and I also had my worst season ever, but because EHD absolutely wrecked my our deer herd and killed every mature buck I had! I'm praying EHD doesn't hit again this year!

How can a shot be unethical where you reciver a dead deer? You could take a super ethical shot and wound a deer, so is that now an unethical shot?
