Thanks for another insightful training video Clay! I've been following your Top Speed Golf lessons for over a year and am always amazed at how I'm always able to pick up on something new that you've walked through and how many times I've been able to quickly get results out on the course. I've been playing for over 25 years and have never felt as if I've had any issues with distance, yet, have been hitting longer drives now than I can recall (adding up to 20 yards and topping 300 yds more frequently). The pieces don't always come together at the same time, but when they do its pure magic. I'm generally hesitant when it comes to training videos, but you clearly have extensive experience, passion and curiosity for the game, and an incredible amount of empathy for those of us that are motivated to improve our own games. The extent you go through to share your knowledge is much appreciated!

Very knowledgeable. Thanks so much for the detail and the explanations for why we know what to do in concept, but still struggle to execute the right way.

Funny how Clay's videos always lead me to re-learning nuances that made me swing better in the past: the upward right wrist move that brings the club in shallower was something I found created better contact, but over time, it snuck out of my swing without me noticing. I'm a current member of Top Speed Golf and took series of video lessons with Robin, both money well spent.

This has really been helpful on irons (easier on shorter irons, need to work more on longer irons). Does this translate to the driver? It seems like maintaining that wrist angle on the driver is really going to be easy to get stuck and delivering an open face.
@TheBasstead12 жыл бұрын
If you are struggling with your long irons, you are probably trying to meet the ball with the club head ahead of your hands.

Lessons ruined my golf game and watching these videos makes my head spin. This game just isn't meant for me. 🤣

LOL! I feel the same way -- I look at as a way to work both my mental and physical exercising -- and take a Zen approach to the actual results on the course.

Hey, just go and enjoy yourself around the course, your putting and short game are really important, knock one shot or putt off each hole and you are going places, do not worry about distance too much, easy swing down the fairway followed by another or two and a one putt will bring you so many rewards.

I know you guys live this everyday but this is information overload for the recreational golfer. I'm not saying that it's incorrect, but how many minute movements can an average golfer think about? Bent right wrist with knuckles toward the elbow, don't push the hands across the body, belt buckle never gets in front of you body, I have no idea what happened from @2:08 to @2:18. This was piece #1. But wait, the secret to all this is to get your left heel off the ground with just the bottom of your shoe (specifically the toe area) in contact with the ground. Piece two, keep your head behind the golf ball, your right shoulder feels like it's going in front of the golf ball but the club head stays behind the shoulder, but wait, there's one more piece to this. Angle your wrist back and cock the wrist up a little bit. There's still about 3 1/2 minutes left in the video but I just threw my clubs in the trash because I've decided to take up bowling. Can you see at all why this might be too much?
@DBstuff2 жыл бұрын
I can see why this may be a bit too much for novices or those with less curiosity or time, but it's amazing for the right audience. To your point, I think it's great for someone who is interested in taking time to work on their game, but not ideal for those looking for a quick fix

Clay, how on earth to we release the club when we use the anti-roll method? The unhinging of the left wrist seems a bit like flipping if we don't roll at all. Do you mean "don't roll the wrists all the way over each other", but maybe roll the upper left arm and wrists a little to keep the club head from passing our hands? This would also keep the club head on our swing plane through and after impact. So maybe a mini roll, like 45 degrees instead of 180?
@TopSpeedGolf2 жыл бұрын
Rolling the wrists depends on timing and can be inconsistent. Squaring the clubface with the bowing of lead wrist and delivering the club on a shallow plane take out the timing. Get the club in the correct position and turn as hard as you like. Play well! Nate | TSG Instructor
@dj-flights73762 жыл бұрын
@@TopSpeedGolf Thank you Nate, but I'm still unclear on what the bowed left wrist does through impact. Will it unhinge? If so, wouldn't the right hand have to flip to stay with it? A video named "How the Release Works with the Anti-Roll Method" would be a life saver for a lot of us. He explains it great leading into impact, and I get that we have to keep rotating, but I still don't know what the hands/wrists do during and after impact when using the anti-roll method.
@rustyrider64762 жыл бұрын
@@dj-flights7376 imo the release during the anti roll method comes after the ball is struck. Clay has a video from around 6 years ago called 'HOW TO RELEASE THE GOLF CLUB | Square Vs. Roll Release' he only recently has moved to the anti roll method (many pro's have also done the same).

Honestly, you have very good information, technically sound. However, it takes you way way too long to explain it. I fast forward your videos 3 minutes from the start and end them 3 minutes early and miss nothing critical. Work on condensing your message by removing unnecessary build up/ filler words.

You're to confusing and you should focus on the things you need to do correctly and not what i do wrong. 👍
