Writing a book is so hard, anxiety-inducing, and rewarding at the same time. And then comes the real work (when you’re “done”). 😂 Thanks for this, Ryan. Writing a book is a lonely process and no one tells you how to do it.

What Ryan said about criticism got me thinking about how I respond to criticism, and how to turn it into something useful. He also mentioned how he now focuses on the effort he puts into writing a book. It reminded me to focus on my work, and to worry less about things I have no control over.

I'm a KZbinr but also a writer (of novels that i publish, actual books, not just writing pieces on the internet or whatever) and i do mainly vlogs and i feel like documenting that process would be so difficult to do in video form! It''s so random and intiuitive mostly, within a certain structure. 🖊📚

@@IzzyOnTheMove I like that he gave the overview: helpful. I am not yet disciplined enough to stick with it. My day job is so involved and provides me great security. I am brave at many things but I am a coward at committing to writing and producing something, even if I produce trash. (Uhmm, maybe, I should read a book called Coruage is waiting for you.) I have notes all over the place and I am so critical of my subject and chapter flow. I just think it sounds like trash yet I ache to share my thoughts on paper. It is such a lonely process...💭🤔

I would like to see you cover 2 things. 1) your note storage methodology (technical) and 2) how you see Stoicism relates to being a Christian. I get the sense from some of your comments you are a strong Christian. I, too, am a strong Christian but can’t find anything that contradicts the 2. I think even though the stoics may have believed in multiple gods many of the concepts work well with Christianity. Would love to hear your thoughts.

It’s not the mistake, it’s what you do after the mistake that matters. There are a lot of messages that can be extracted from your videos, but the process at which go about making a book reminded me of how courage works and why I thought of that statement from a marine to this day I still admire. To all that was lead to this video, and have going through things, the story isn’t over what you do after is what counts. How do you want to end it? Stay blessed all.

I used to have so much respect for you until i saw your video where you freaked out over COVID. I forgot exactly what it is, but all I remember was seeing someone who preaches Amor Fati and other stoic principles just react in a less than desirable way. I understand everyone has moments of doubt and weakness, but yours seemed different. I didn’t see someone have a moment of weakness. I saw your true self. Ever sense then I just see you as a fraud. For a moment you took the mask you always wear off, and part of me wishes I never saw it.

Such an incredible speaker and I LOVE your YT, but I really dislike all of your books (except maybe your first). Think they're pretty generic and regurgitated. Not sure how such a great thinker can create such weak books. This includes your book on growth marketing. By far the worst book on growth I've ever read.

Anyone who thinks Ryan is a genuine practitioner of stoicism just doesn’t understand the meaning of stoicism. Stoicism is his gimmick, not his practice. And he’s raking in YOUR $$$$, and laughing all the way to the bank.
