Before the Chris Benoit situation, on Monday Night Raw, Vince McMahon got in his limousine and it exploded into flames. The storyline was suppose to be about Vince McMahon died in an limo accident, but the real life murder suicide situation with Chris Benoit overpowered it.

Put it this way, would WWF have gone ahead with a terrorist plotline on that week's Smackdown or even the following weeks RAW. I doubt it very much. 7/7 still feels uncomfortable to watch because it is in the context of what happened in the U.K. I am no prude but like Vince am a stubborn S.O.B. But like even Vince says on the E.C.W. DVD "Sometimes I make decisions that seemed right at the time". 14 years later, I wonder if he still stands by airing that scene & never mind 7.7, what Al-Qaeda was up to and ISIS, beheading etc is close to what they were getting at with this scene without cutting someones head off.

If anything, the curtain call makes Triple H seem more passionate. I remember Jim Cornette referencing a tidbit from a bodybuilding book Triple H wrote in disgust; Vince told him he had to “learn to eat shit and love it”. He was earmarked to be placed on a launchpad toward potential success (long before he dated the boss’s daughter), and he blew it. He persevered languishing in mediocrity, and reclaimed the role that was meant for him in the first place.

I remember watching an interview with the Undertaker where he said he couldn't stand HHH, but then he started to respect after he sucked it up and accepted the punishment without complaining/whining about it. From what I've gathered once you got Undertaker in your corner your good to go for the rest of your career. So that really did work out for HHH.

@@TheJoeFella I did. I was already aware of Booker's slip of the tongue when I watched the Vince clip. That's why I recognized it right away. It was probably intended as a comedic reference to Booker's accident. I don't know if Vince, or Booker T for that matter, is a racist, and I don't care. It's not relevant here. Vince was making an homage. Perhaps it was inappropriate. Doesn't matter. The intent seems pretty clear. End of story.

I think this was in the time where everyone didn't know it was staged just yet. People who hug when they're supposed to be enemies is a bit sketchy to those who believed it was real and kind of exposed the company. (I'm aware many people knew, but like kids/younger viewers for example didn't) so them breaking kayfabe in those days was a bit risky to the company. But yeah nowadays it's not a big deal because basically everyone knows it's scripted so I agree.

@@kennyg.6608 Chris was one of the all time greatest straight workers THE WWF ever saw. That's a shame. Myself, I try to separate the wrestler from the tragedy... The guy's love and dedication to his career fucked him and his family in the end. Vince just feels guilty he benefitted so much from the very thing that fucked Chris's head up... You take as many hits to the head mixed with the roids and the drinking and drug use rampant in that industry back then especially, its a wonder more didn't end up killing themselves or loved ones... Oh wait, others did!! Chris was no fucking angel, but his career in no means needs to be erased because he went crazy!!

Two things. I dont think Chris Benoit should have been wiped from WWE. I know what he did is wrong, but no one ever talks about the amount of brain damage he had FROM wrestling hard. No one would take responsibility for that, they want to solely blame him. That's wrong. I understand why they did it, but they dont have the facts straight. He wouldnt just do that just because. (Edit) if you look it up, the autopsy of Chris showed he has the brain damage of an 80 year old man with SEVERE alzheimers. Two: I never got the chance to see Owen Hart wrestle and it's horrible that he passed away. I have mad respect for him and always will.

I was watching the "Over the Edge" pay per view when Owen fell. When the screen went black and then they cut away to J.R. and Jerry Lawler...I wasn't sure what was happening. When it was announced that Owen Hart passed away...at first I was convinced that it was a work. Then, when I found out that it was in fact true, like everybody else, I was shocked. There are conspiracy theories that allege that Owen Hart was a sacrifice by Vince so the WWE could go public on the stock market. It is suspicious that the PPV was called "Over the Edge" but there is no empirical evidence to support that conspiracy theory. Rest in power to Owen Hart.

funny you mentioned the music part. for one, i remember the wrestlers of 1985 "singing" the land of a thousand dances. (ah, the '80s.) later on down the track, "hollywood" hogan used to use jimi hendrix's voodoo chile, but in a hulk hogan anthology dvd i have (yes, i'm a hulkamaniac from way back & i make no apologies for it!) they doctored those matches, replacing it with the nwo theme. plus, aside from music, they also doctored every time wwf was mentioned, they repaced the 'f' with 'e' in their speech & partially pixelated the turn of the century wwf logo.

Not sure about any other videos that should be edited but I do remember the Great American Bash or GAB for short, where it showed as we saw on this video of a lot of the 80's wrestlers doing drugs in the back. As much drugs as the stars did in the 80's we should feel lucky that any of em are still around today. The 80's were a real dangerous time in wrestling as according to the stars who were there, drugs were everywhere you looked. Just glad we still have some of these great talents still with us.
