The mayor of New York said he was going to stop those damn horse carriages. Many of those horses are mistreated. They did not evolve to walk on asphalt all day or be exposed to car pollution or being hit by cars. It's unnecessary and it needs to stop.

I hate to disagree with something. Obviously no one should be abusing those horses. But horses are of a level of intelligence to where they understand that they need to earn a wage And they often take pride in doing so. They are working animals. As a person who owned a horse at some point who was a working horse It was a racehorse. I know that he experienced depression when he was retired. And so I had to find him a new job as a therapist. But screw those guys who abused that horse but also understand if these horses don't have jobs then they may feel similar to how a person without a job may feel

@@jw127 Agreed, the statement is ridiculous. We had horses abused and collapsing in Melb, Aus. I know for a fact they are kept in a dark, cold warehouse in the middle of our CBD and most people have no idea. They only see the light when they're "working for a wage" - I know Monet said that the NYC horses live in big stables etc and for a second I felt some relief for them but...I would look into that. EDIT And the idea that their "work" is taking the same route every day, year after year...surely that would be mind numbing. Any way, I could go on and on. The whole industry is f*****
