I was 18 years old when this game was released. I loved it played it for hours. I'm 42 years old now. The 90s was the peak of our species.

The sounds of beautiful childhood memories from the past, days long-gone by. I'd do anything to get those times back. Having my best friends over from school, having sleepovers to play this game all night, having a blast! Not knowing what new and exciting things the next day would bring, with no worries in the world whatsoever. Now, in this current period, it's altogether different. nothing feels the same anymore. That "feeling" of wonder and innocence is gone. And the fun has seemingly went away along with it. But sounds like this bring back that feeling of how things used to be so seemingly long ago. And I can remember so vividly by just hearing this. My imagination will never let go of those precious moments. Sorry to sound so over-nostalgic. I just really miss the days of innocence as a child, and all the memories that came along with it. So I feel this is the best way that I can put all of that into words and context. From 2:48 to 7:08 gives me the most sentimental feeling. Such a powerful and emotional kick in the gut that I just can't even begin to put into words. Right before they fade out gives me chills up the spine. That sound is so beautiful and haunting. (In a good, comforting way. If that helps to describe it better.) Makes me think so much of the old days, and miss them that much more.

I understand what you mean. I was 11 years old in 1999 when I would play this with my then-best friend, who I have sadly long since drifted apart from. It was a beautiful time in my life, probably the best time. Utterly carefree as you said. I'm grateful that it happened.

I understand you, although i wasn't able to play completely through that game at the of the 90s (only had the PS version rented for a few days, but i did a few years later on PC) i have a strong connection to the X-files since my childhood and this time was probably the best time of my life because everything was so exciting and i looked forward to every new day. I would rent the X files VHS from video shops or libraries and watch them with 2 of my friends (unfortunately we don't have much to do with each other anymore), whenever i hear the typical X-Files soundtracks and ambience (it's very similar to the part you marked) it hits me very emotional. I sometimes wonder if this is a thing of our generation or having been a child in the 90s, because my parents and grandparents barely longed for their childhood.

90s 90s 90s 90s and 90s. My childhood decade despite i was born in 97. But im getting goosebumps everytime i watch or listen something from 90s. It's so marvelous and has a vibe like something mysterious and dark.

Then you might want to check out the brilliant short lived 90s show Profit (1996) which only lasted four episodes on Fox before being cancelled due to its controversial content. One season, eight episodes about a psycho who manipulates and sometimes murders his way to the top, way before edgy later stuff like Dexter. Also filmed in Vancouver, so it has that nice X-Files atmos.

I feel nostalgia to games from 90's I never played. But it might be due to being used to certain visual style and music.

God, that military base part in the game was so eerie and intense at the same time, you could die so easily by making the wrong turn or going into the wrong room. Although trial & error is normally a bad design choice, it really added to the tense feeling and whenever i hear that eerie music it gives me shivers. Those unknown tracks are probably unused i guess?

Just to mention - all these tracks were created, composed and played by Paul Hiaumet. Mark Snow made The X - files main theme only for this game. One of my all time favorite games of all time. Atmosphere, plot, cast and this ambient haunting music. The best point click adventure game for sure. Remember playing this gem with my brother...long October nights of 1999. I miss 90's so much. It seems like so many years ago...oh,man. Great memories. Thank You for posting this, Steve! Jordan, Rest In Piece, bro. Thanks for the memories.

Thank you for the correction! I was probably looking at the wrong part of IMDB. Funny enough, the game was what got me into the show.

@@stevesoukaserm I've watched couple episodes of the show before I got into the game. I don't know how to explain this...maybe because it was one of my first Playstation games when I got a console in 1999. But this game is so atmospheric, unique and good. Love how the actors portrayed their characters, the music is a gem itself. Memories of the past...so nostalgic. Appreciate so much the you posted the whole masterpiece on KZbin.

I don't understand the thing about Willmore's autopsy since Willmore is the protagonist. Is it possible to get killed in the game and then get a scene where you as Willmore are being observed by your partner and the pathologist?
@stevesoukaserm
@stevesoukaserm 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. There are scenes where if Willmore dies, Mary Astadourian or Mark Cook is at the coroner's office to confirm that the skeletal remains belong to Willmore.
