The fact this gave us essentially an exclusive episode alone made me love the hell out of it. X-Files has been one of those shows I adored since a kid and like it a lot more nowadays since I can fully appreciate everything the show offers.

Fellow Canadian here. Great video. I tried playing this via emulation, it was way too difficult as I eventually got to a point where I had no clue what to do next. Especially since you don't necessarily need to do tasks in any particular order meant I didn't have the patience to go through a walkthrough to hunt what I've done & need to do next. Was just a casual fan of the show so maybe that's why I didn't have the motivation. I was more a fan of UFO conspiracy than the show since at least half of the episodes I caught never seemed to have anything to do with aliens. Didn't care much for mutants or cults or the comedic episodes.

I ran out and rented it for a weekend. Beat it using that walkthrough. I thought it was less of a game and more of a playable episode.

A fitting review considering the new season recently started! I'm a bit late to the series, but I did start watching about a year and a half ago and I'm halfway through Season 4 right now. A couple of months ago I picked up the PS1 game as well and played through to the end of disc 1. It's neat to see the nods to the show, like the Jose Chung book (funny enough, after seeing that in-game, the next episode I watched was coincidentally the one where they meet Chung and he tries to write a book about Mulder and Scully's endeavors). As far as the gameplay itself, I think it would have been nice if there was mouse support (I don't think there is), and I wish they let you use the shoulder keys and d-pad for quick movement since most movement seems to be handled in only four directions anyway. It definitely seems like the kind of game that's good for fans of the series. I'll have to put more time into it soon and try to finish it.

I hate point and click games. I think they are stupid and a complete waste of time. That's what I went into this game with. I first played it when I was a kid. I never watched x files, I knew what it was but didnt care. The second the first disc went in. I was hooked. For what reason I don't know. And still dont because I'm still not a fan of point and click games. I wasn't a fan of x files but I found the game amazing. One of my top 10 favorites of all time.I can only imagine what this game did for actual fans of the show. This game is the reason I got into the show. Yesterday I was browsing kijiji and found a copy. I was promised it would be nearly perfect in condition and that disc 1 had minor scratches. I drove 2 hours for this game and the discs were conveniently re arranged in the case. Disc 1 was behind the manual on disc 3. Disc 2 and 4 are nearly perfect. 3 has the minor scratches, and disc 1 looks like it went through a meat grinder. I was heart broken thinking I had just wasted my time and money. I was thinking about getting disc 1 professionally resurfaced the whole way home. I put it in the console. And the fucker actually worked flawlessly. It made no sense. Not so much as a hick up. I've had games with far less damage on them stop working completely. This thing looks like it was used as a weapon in a war. I was mainly concerned because it is a FMV game. How is it the other game I bought can barely get through its intro and skips Terribly and yet the disc that shouldn't work does, perfectly. Something is afoot here.The truth is out there........

We would like to know which is your favourite Episode in the whole Series, the mine is 1.-''SPACE''(S1, E9), ED LAUTER, SUSANNA THOMPSSON. 2.-''SHADOWS''(S1, E6), LISA WALTZ, BARRY PRIMUS. 3.-''SQUEEZE'' (S1, E3), DONAL LOGUE, DOUG HUTCHINSON, HEINRICH BECKMANN. 4.-''CONDUIT'' (S1, E4), DONALD GIBB, CARRIE SNODGRASS. 5.-''GENDERBENDER'' (S1, E12), MITCHELL KOSTERMAN, BRENT HINKLEY, NICHOLAS LEA, MICHELLE GOODGER, KATE TWÁ, PETER STEBBINGS. BONUS TRACK: +''ERLENMEYER FLASK'' (S1, E24), KEN KRAMER, JERRY HARDIN, JAMES LEARD, LINDSEY GINTER, ANNE DE SALVO SIMON WEBB. Your Channel name is wonderful, I think that the tenth season is also very good, but it is a shame that the media had been so despective with that, making some fans turn the back against it, for me it was for fun, congregation and solemnity made, so it would not be long, and of course some episodes may be comedic and not so seriously located, contrary to the very classic paranoid attitude got at essential chapters. I would also like to return to that 'TOP SECRET' environment, but I have to admit that it made unsleepy and weird very months if not really years, so I owe CHRIS and FRANK SPOTNITZ many unbeleavable experiences in my life thanks to their creation, I gone for a special form in my life, very FBI type, so I could understand the sense of order and secrecy. To be fair no any other series have captivated the conscience and awareness Status so tight like this one has done, and I think the creators deserve the series to be watced a new time, I, by my no sleep night time, see the first four seasons, as rower as better. I feel so great exploring all positions in the series, including the SMOKEMAN, what does it mean to be him, every single mission, the watch agenda, his family, the way he lives the day and night. Which are his dreams, the way he sees the existence, his youth, his beloved, his relation with the Aliens, and the list finds no end. A very intensive way to take your life, from a single meanless poor point of decay until the highest top of the universe, not exactly for the supposed good of humanity but for the innerst conscience, so that is a point for every article that absorts the watcher, the concience opening, rather than fake believes about moral and rightship. It was from beginning expected from the fans this way, an undirect wise cleaver form to overlook a series, not only the handling of the Good, but for all possible angles in the human mind, I am happy that the cast are friendly each other, and they show to be like family, I would like that you make a tribute video for them showing the very best of paranoid, casual, mean and crazy sides including bloopers, that is a lot to ask, but the series really deserves it. Three times hurra for CHRIS CARTER, KIM MANNERS, FRANK SPOTNITZ, DAVID DUCHOVNY, GILLIAN ANDERSSON and CANNOT BE TAMED!!!

+Joe Goes Retro There are several adapters for usage of standard usb mouse and keyboard for the PS1/PS2 instead of the standard controller, so no game support required. Although intentionally designed primarily for usage with FPS, they work with all other games too. So if you want to use this with a mouse, just get yourself such an adapter (they are petty cheap nowadays). I haven't tried this, but as there are several adapters for connecting PS1/PS2 peripheral to PS3, chaining these two should enable you to use mouse and keyboard also on a PS3.

You wrote the episode titles on your jeans? lol. [one might argue you cannot "click" a point & click without a mouse. And yeah, Myst on the PS1 was painful]. Thx for your reviews, Pam. Def. identify with a kid staying inside to play games

After playing this wonderful Masterpiece, and than stepping in a new ground of PLAYSTATION 2, what is your opinion about X FILES Viedeogame for PS2: +what made you feel the new graphics? +what were your firsrt thoughts when you noticed the 3D sequences instead of the cinematic videos like the debut game? +did you want to play it or you felt it empty and boring? +did you like the music? +what do you think about the game mode changing, good or bad? +do you think the voices are really DUCHOVNY's and ANDERSSON's, or these were from near seeming voicers so the actors wouldn't be bothered? +did you have the same passion as in PS1 or you found it dissapointing? +which music do you believe it was more accurate, the PS1's game's or PS2's game's? +which story did you like more, PS1's game's or PS2's game's? +which control mode you felt better, 1's or 2's? +are you romantlicly involved with the creator? +were you romanticly involved with the creator in the past? +which X-File are you working currently on? Three last questions were for joke, sorry, great article, I think you should make a top 25 so you could set also remarkable titles hard to get but essential for the players, like those which could never be so publicly rated as the exclusive licence graded ones, few suggestions like: +DISCWORLD NOIR. +ROLLCAGE. +THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN. +NOSFERATU. +SHADOWMASTER. +NECRONOMICON. +QUAKE. +GEX, ENTER THE GECKO. By the way that Hair Style like MISS SLOANE and GILLIAN ANDERSSON together is very awesome.

Great Review! I have this game on Playstation, but I have'nt mustered the curage to play it yet. I played it with my first girlfriend on PC back in 2000 and loved it, but I thought the playstation version would'nt be as good after I saw the first cinematics in the game. I did'nt want to ruin a good memory. But after watching this I might give it a go. It looks good enough, and if I can get used to the controlls (not as good as the PC as you said) then I'll have some grade A nostalgia to look forward to :)

+Stefan Johansson I hope you like it! The controls aren't the worst, they're just slow moving with the d pad. I tried using the analogue stick, but the movement seemed erratic.

I didn't know that existed FMV games for PlayStation 1!!! Big surprise!!

+Oriental Attack There are a few. There's another called Fox Hunt, which is one of the most rare games on the system that I need to play soon.

5:59 if you think that actings bad you should hear his voice over acting in the 2nd x files game (resist or serve) it’s shockingly bad.

This game was pretty good, not as good as the show of course but still pretty fun. BTW I love the fact that Pam is as much of an X-files fan as I am.

I completly agree with the review. I am biased towards the game as well (having watched all seasons available back then and being hughely into the X-Files during the time this game was released), so maybe I go easier than others on the many flaws you mentioned. The controls are very awkward and navigating the Tarakan and the Warehouse can be a huge pain in the ass. And the final location in the game... I think I would have never been able to sit through this if it hadn't been for walkthroughs telling me what to do. But we get to play a full episode of The X-Files, and it's amazing how much work the developers put into this game. Scenes can play out differently depending on how you react to people (you can be an ass to Astadorian and she will react accordingly, trying to get rid of you before she heads to the morgue) and the acting is pretty good. Well, and the game has Gillian Anderson. Any game featuring the amazing Gillian Anderson is a good game. Because Gillian Anderson is amazing. Oh, and have I mentioned that Gillian Anderson is amazing?

Great video. I was a huge X-Files fan myself, but I think you might have me beat, and you tell the embarassing stuff because I totally laughed at that part. :P I may need to try this game at some point.

I remember playing this on the PC but sadly I have lost my copy of it somewhere. Probably can't play it on my modern PC anyway. ;-) I was a huge fan of the show as well but now as a modern binge watcher I never got past the fourth season. I think it lost some of its appeal and lowered its standards after that I feel. I dunno. It was also created during the FMV craze when that was the "new direction" of video games. That direction didn't last long sadly, maybe a bit before its time. I love point and click games, I can't remember how many times I played through The Beast Within. :-)
@Cannotbetamed15 жыл бұрын
I really liked X-Files up to the 5th season. Beast Within is great.
@signaltome5 жыл бұрын
@@Cannotbetamed1 I watched five about half way. I guess the series is not really made for binge watching. :-) All Gabe Knight are good but Beast is what I grew up with. (When I found that there was a novel of Beast as well I spent almost 120 dollars on a prestine used paperback of it. Well worth it. :-P)
