I think it’s going to come down to this… Use Sony’s model (buy your exclusive games a la carte for $70 a piece) or get them for $20 a month on GP. If they can deliver 4 compelling exclusives every year, it pays for itself.

My next big purchase will either be an upgraded VR headset, Playstation VR 2 Slim, or Alien bundle or Metro bundle, or an all digital Series X that's cheaper then the disc drive, so I can play Hellblade 2 & Stalker 2. Just waiting to see who drops what I'm looking for first. If neither come out, I'll probly just get a Hoizon bundle VR 2 next year.

Whether or not Xbox players move to PlayStation is entirely dependent on the value of game pass. I think if Microsoft didn’t put cod on gamepass, it’d of been a HUGE mistake. It’d show that they weren’t confident in their own product, they thing they expect to be their bread and butter. And also getting games like call of duty for “free” every single year is a huge value proposition that’ll draw in a large number of users and possibly lock them down on Xbox.

Microsoft is going to want a return on all these big acquisitions.. Making everything gamepass exclusive isnt going to cut it. Will gears and Halo be multiplat? absolutely not. They will make most of these games going forward multiplat while putting them on gamepass. They are not going to leave xbox consoles behind. They will support the xbox fans. Microsoft is looking at it like this, "hey, you wanna spend 75 bucks on this game? here you go...BUTTTTT we have it on gamepass, so jump ship if you want to, everything on gamepass is also 20% off"

7/10 even 6/10 is not poor. Its better to separate your perception and personal narratives from reality. The vampire game was poorly recieved, day before was poorly recieved not statfield. Starfield was divisive factoring in review bombing but it returned a fair amount of money in sales to say the least. I remember it making records in preorder sales, deluxe edition sales etc and THIS is what matters most shirt and long term sales and reviews.

It's clearly good for the consumers that CoD will be now on Gamepass. However, how is this sustainable in the medium to long term? CoD as a standalone game normally sells billions, so they would have to greatly increase the price of Gamepass, or do something else drastic. It seems that Phil Spencer does believe in infinite growth for the gamepass, but I personally don't see a lot of potential new users coming to the gamepass

I’m concerned about the impact to the industry if Xbox does not create a new console. Nintendo is huge but has a different focus. Sony and Xbox always seemed to push the technological limits. Will a viable 3rd console emerge???

Everyone wants to bring up the things about what Xbox is doing in the comment section like it’s all bad, news Flash companies change and adapt, and when they have the resources to do so forever and use them, people get upset and talk trash. I am all for what Microsoft is doing as long as quality games do eventually come in the long run of massive change. To the people that speculate, I highly doubt they will drop Xbox console at all. Too much revenue would be lost it wouldn’t make sense to do so. The fact that they are putting COD on Game Pass is because they are going to have all that revenue made up from PlayStation players having to purchase. So that is the benefit of owning an Xbox now.

Doom eternal came out in March 2020 the zenimax buy out happened in September 2020 doom trilogy was already most likely committed to come to PC Xbox and PlayStation which when the buy out happened it was most likely part of those games still under contract which Microsoft (Xbox) has to finish kinda like how deathloop was a time exclusive for PlayStation

I think their best way to success right now is light up GP with as many must-have games and also sell them to Nintendo and Sony. If they have enough games to make GP worth it, the people will stay AND they will gain the sales of the other systems. People on Nintendo or Sony paying $70 a pop for 5 games a year when they could make the big first investment and then GP showing over time they are saving money might get some to buy it. The system is ALWAYS going to fall short though as ASIA has basically ignored it its whole life. It’s a tough hill to climb for XBox. They also gotta make sure it doesn’t become Microsoft Gaming as well.

It won't break the camels back because we can already play/stream playstation games on xbox. I'm pretty sure we're getting a native steam app soon and we'll be able to directly play ALL the playstation games that matter.
