For a technically correct, sound, repeatable swing, adopt The Y Shape method. Preserving The Y Shape structure during the entire swing automatically gives you the three basics of the swing: plane, square, inline shaft/left arm at impact. It's simple yet elegant.

What I am getting from this excellent analysis is that you get the feeling of swinging like you are hitting a baseball, but the club head is dropping so it goes to the ball! It does not require as much leaning down, which is good for us seniors!

PHIL - THIS CONCEPT IS THE BEST - VERY INSIGHTFUL. WHAT I LOVE ABOUT IT MOST IS THAT YOU CAN GET OFF TRACK AND JUST COME BACK TO THE Y-SHAPE. REALLY BRILLANT!

Thank you so much. I have a 7 handicap and I watch this video before I play (twice a week). I also work on this nearly every day hitting 100's of practice balls.. It's as very fundamental approach that produces effortless power and solid contact.

Glad this helps. It's really simple - just maintain the same shape as set-up. Tks for the comment...... and me so late in replying :(

Thank you Phil You have made the golf wing so simple to understand and simple to perform. In applying the principles you have shown on all your videos, I drop 10 shots from our last game last month, its an amazing feeling. One thing to add though is the grip pressure I use from back swing to impact is a 2 or 3 on a scale of 10. I appreciate you posting your videos a lot

Two important things about this teaching for me. 1) 3/4 shoulder turn, and then (2) dominant left hand in lifting the club. to complete the back swing. That combination provides the complete shoulder turn. It works !

Good. So instead of trying to time the end of the shoulder turn with the completion of the left wrist hinge, I aim to have the complete hinge at about 1/2 way back. The hinged left arm then pulls the shoulders to top of backswing position. Contrast with Martin Kaymer's sloppy (IMO) move from 1/2 way back to the top. Lots of hinging going on to the top and ....... can it be consistent?

In the forward motion the left leg is definitely feeling the weight, hopefully BEFORE impact and bracing itself for the followthrough. Pressure on the right leg is felt at the top of the backswing and starting down.

I noticed if u do not turn head around , lower body will not turn around properly to go through the ball. Please comment on that if u agree.

When you drop the club at hip level, is there any effort made by hips or lower body? It seems like you are just dropping the arms down with no lower body movement. Please confirm!

Sir, u have to drop the club first low then rotate. U r showing us dropping club only higher than ball is .there is a difference between two drops.

Hi Phil, Thank You !!! Quick question I have is, When you turn around thru the ball, which side of the body or Which leg are you feeling most od your weight/Pressure ?

It's been many years since we last communicated Phil, I hope you are still keeping well and still getting the opportunity to teach in China. Watching your method again I've noticed many similarities to the teaching of the late Joe Nichols and Mike Malaska. Did Joe have any influence on your philosophy and also have to checked out Mike's teaching as I think you would like many elements of it.

i think it is hard to hold your shoulders from turning when you drop the club down from the top. However, it seems that is the key to not coming over the top?
@peejay3
@peejay3 5 жыл бұрын
You're correct. It keeps you in plane. The point it was trying to make: the swing is two parts, vertical and horizontal. From the top it's down then around then up, rather than from the top aim the club directly at the ball in like a straight line fashion.

Does the weight of the club moving through the ball make you turn ?
@peejay3
@peejay3 4 жыл бұрын
sambhu sivalenka Generally think of moving the shaft around the body as the clubhead will swing on its own. The weight DOES help with the turn AFTER IMPACT but that’s because of the force applied to the clubhead.

In slow swing it makes sense but club comes down faster when club reaches at hip level which is not possible to maintain Y.
@mikeschick8461

To clarify, the best way to swing a club fast is when the arms are perpendicular to the spine, and the clubhead drops down to meet the ball.
@peejay3
@peejay3 4 жыл бұрын
So the clubhead dropping is a result of arm swing? I would agree with this line of thinking.
