Actually, the SU-100Y was build on the T-100 chassis, which was a prototype vehicle built in 1939 together with the SMK. Both loss the competition to the KV-1. So heay, a bit of history for you all. I didn't watch the video yet, but I think it's going to be awesome has always ! :3

The fact that the bt5 is still competitive at up to 4.7-5.7 actually lends to the historical accuracy of the game, especially with the close proximity of the fight, larger grind maps would probably fix some of the problems but getting flanked is always death

There's a reason World of Tanks, before they introduced tier 10 light tanks, made light tanks matchmaking like they were a tier higher than their actual tier... Because they're so effective at adapting to changes in battle, and flanking. It didn't matter that they'd face tanks three tiers higher than them... Because they can just FLANK and get to their sides/rear. It's the exact same in War Thunder. There is absolutely no reason light tanks with 320mm/433mm heat pen etc. should be at the same BR as WW2 vehicles. Every light tank in the game should go up in BR, because every light tank in the game has the ability to kill any heavy tank if it flanks them. This is HOW they're supposed to be used. They're NOT supposed to be used in a front on fight with a heavily armoured vehicle that they can simply lolpen.

The post pen damage on that SAP was surprisingly disappointing... The whole point of SAP is giving up some penetration for a massive HE filler compared to normal APHE, it should burst open tanks like a sledgehammer hitting a watermelon

I remember when i was young and played Blitzkrieg 2 Anthylogy and there was SU-100Y in one of the missions and it just destroyed all the german tanks that were in existence and either nostalgia is powerful or this tank is just very cool :D

Something I discovered was really fun a few days ago was playing realistic with the HUD off. It's like simulator but you still have the tools at your disposal to check if someone's friendly by opening the map and it doesn't feel janky or make for a bad watch because you still play in third person. I tried it playing at 6.0 America and had a blast, trying to gauge if I'd done damage or killed an enemy based off of what my crew were saying and trying to conserve my ammunition. Give it a go! :D

fun fact: the ACTUAL reload rate was 10-12 rounds per minute (~10 second reload), compared to the ingame's 25 second (19 aced) reload time. It would have been far more dangerous with that reload rate!

If I may make a suggestion,play the French reserve tank the AMD.35. It has a 25 mm cannon that pens 72mm of armor at point blank and for CAS you can use the first French premium plane Pallier's D.510, which has a 20mm Hispano cannon that pens 27 mm of armor. Day 1

There is an equally annoying but effective strategy. Take the Waffletractor drive into a bush at the highest corner of the map and shoot them at 1.6km. Usually you stay totally unnoticed.

so, not to be "that guy" but this isnt built on a Kv-1 chassis. In the 1930s the russians held trials for their heavy tank, and one entry was a tank known as the T-100, which was denoted primarily by its chassis being MUCH longer than the Kv-1 (which is mostly why Kv-1 won the trials). After the trials the russians, instead of scrapping the failed designs, repurposed them into other vehicles. The Su-100Y is that vehicle. They took a spare 130mm naval cannon, slapped it into the T-100, and called it bacon. the SMK was also in those trials, and most if not all the tanks were repurposed, mostly into artillery guns which were used (and most destroyed) during the Winter, and then Continuation wars. The 100Y used to be one of my favorite tanks in the game before volumetric, ballistics codes, the removal of its original APHE and the terrain/mobility nerfs. Thing was a monster at 5.3

BT-5 kills Panther F... Russian hardbass intensifies! I cheered every time you killed a Panther, because I hate those cancer machines as much as the EBR and R3. I'm going to rearrange my Russian tanks now (I replaced the BT-5 with the BT-7, but now I'm going to re-evaluate). I hate that the Panther F is at 5.7 and a whole stack of British tanks have been moved up. Every Panther is an absolute bastard to fight unless you have sabot, because the UFP is impenetrable to conventional AP shells. If you're a Sherman Firefly or a Sherman 76 at medium range front on to a Panther, you have to aim for the turret and basically keep shooting till all the spare crew have decided to try gunner and have been killed. Yet, the Panther (and every German tank above the Pz-IV F2) can 1 shot a Sherman Firefly, and the Comet and the Challenger, from the front from 1km easily. I really don't want to play 4.7 with the Firefly because Germany will have a lineup of Tiger E and F, Panther A, F and D, Ostwind and Wirbelwind. Can you think of a more evil enemy lineup? And most matches in the Firefly are up tiers.

We tell you what it is good at? O boy.. That gun, look at the explosive mass eq. about 2,3 kg in the standard shell. OVER 200 mm pen. The shells go very straight so one does not need to compensate so much over distances and also the shells goes relativly fast. If you pen, and you will often do: it is gg for the target. Otherwise.. those 60 mm can be a bit angled but most on longer ranges. Put some bushes on its "frontal sides". Ppl will not know where to shoot u because they don't want to shot inte the bushes-->only some players will know its weakspots. With a good crew that thing can actually turn pretty quick. I LOVE my SU-100 Y :D

The first time I saw this tank it was during a match when I was hiding behind a building in my M4A1 76 (W), I looked round the corner of the building and there were TWO about to flank both sides of the house I was behind, i had never seen this behemoth before so I was terrified, they both came round the house and just looked at me. I didnt fire, just accepted my fate, then afterwards in the hanger I looked at the SU-100Y''s armour and found out I could've easily penned and killed both of them..

That 130mm gun was actually the same cannon that the Soviets armed their destroyers with, so another fun little meme machine fact. That'd be why it has a naval-type shell, for the curious, they probably didn't make a ton of anti-tank rounds for this gun given the SU-100Y was a prototype vehicle and the gun didn't get used for other land vehicles afaik.

BT-7 (F32) is the best BT in my honest opinon. a little bit more pen than the 45mm, better angle penetration, and almost 3x the explosive mass for a slower reload and a good BR at 3.3. Its fun taking it against Tigers I and Panthers and is brings a bit more one shot kills than the BT-5 or 7
