If I remember correctly there was also a lady (I think she was a security officer or something? I don't remember) who was going to kill herself, but Natasha sends her a thank you note or something and she decides not to kill herself. In the book, Natasha and Daniel see each other on a plane (and they don't kiss lol) and the lady who was going to kill herself is now a flight attendant and she recognizes Natasha and thanks her for saving her life. I liked that part.

You said the girl was suppose to be dark skin with kinky hair. That would've been so great typ see considering the dark skin girl representation for teenagers is nonexistent since they're always replaced by biracials all the time or just lighter skin people in general. That's a bummer seems like the movie could've had great potential. Idk why she would take take role knowing good and well it was reserved for a dark skin girl. Idek Melton was half white. Ok but like did no one else notice that there’s a formula for every bestselling YA romance novel? The girl is always really smart and cynical, bonus points if she wants to be a scientist or physicist, or something else that involves math. The boy always believes in fate, and destiny, and stuff, and he usually wants to be a poet or musician. The characters in these book, the sun is also a star, The Fault In our Stars, The Science of Magic, etc. are all literally the same.

Uhm. My friend was going to Rio de Janeiro for like a few hours with her colleague for work...and met a guy who was there on holiday with his family. They spent one hour together. That was 6 years ago. They are married today. Went through cancer and crisis together. And years of long distance. Yes... It's possible. Unlikely. But possible.

My uncle visited puerto rico once with his brother. Uncle who didnt know anyone is T and uncle who had friends is V. So V meets up with friends and drags T along, T meets his friends and my future aunt they spent a few hours together, but my uncle knew she was the one. The next day he had to fly back to washington state where they lived. They exchanged contact information, mind the fact that T spoke english and russian and my aunt spoke limited english at the time (she was still going to school i believe) and mainly spanish. For three months they skyped and called daily, fell in love. My uncle moved there and after a few months proposed. They got married and have been together for almost 10 years and are the strongest people I know. Fun fact V had to translate so much for them bc he learned spanish. Its unlikely for situations like these to happen sure, but its how we meet new people that we are "destined" with

I was going to work (btw I'm Portuguese) and I was going on a boat. So I saw a guy and i really liked him.. he was so hot. Ok .. yeah ..so ... went to work and after that, I went home ..again on a boat..and i saw the same guy ..i thought that he was stalking me or something 🤷‍♀️... but this time we smiled ..yeah just that. turns out that I matched with him on tinder ..but we never spoke there... so because I was bored I went on tinder while waiting for my bus and I saw him ..on my matched people.. and sent a message... well we start speaking and we became friends and ended up kinda dating for 2/3months?! But then he had to go back to America. Because he's American.. and it's being 4 years since we dont see each other but we still speak and I still love him . And I know that we will be together again soon.. Destiny is real.

The book was actually pretty good and I feel like it's one of those types of movies that would have benefited from narration because lowkey the point of the book was how all peoples lives are connected like the main girl got the appointment because there was girl at security who made her late to her previous appointment and she was planning on committing suicide that day but the main girl called the immigration office and was like tell her I said thank you because she helped give me a chance to stay in America and that small act of kindness like convinced the other to like get help and then years in the future she became a flight attendant to better connect with people and met the main character again and finally got to say thank you and then Daniel was also on the plane, which is how they met up

Young adult romances just don't translate well to the screen. I really enjoyed the book because it actually does take place in one day, and shows how people's lives affect each other. The actual romance part was secondary to me. The writing and seeing the different background characters lives intertwining was what kept me hooked.
@nicolekemedi2814
@nicolekemedi2814 4 жыл бұрын
Same. I liked the romance okay, but the best part was the portrayal of all the people that would be 'secondary' or 'unimportant' in any other book, the way they showed all the little interpersonal situations that affected everybody. It was fantastic to watch but it doesn't translate well onscreen, and I feel like they shouldn't have bothered with the movie if they were going to skim on the parts that made the book so special.

The Sun is Also a Star book is one of my favorites, I love Nicola Yoon’s writing so much, but I didn’t even see this movie because the characters looked way older than high school students and it just didn’t feel the same

Tbh it wasn't as good as the book but they didn't change any of plot scenes apart from the end so it was interesting to watch the adaptation. The soundtrack was really the only good thing about the movie

They missed so many details in the book it made me so mad! They skipped the whole scene where they first meet and when they see natashas ex. The red tie! They completely left out the red tie and the ponytail. And I hate how she didn’t have a real afro
@Ella-yd4re
@Ella-yd4re 5 жыл бұрын
@@kasenbrown8952 that is very true. But they didn't change points that it made it jarring. Yeah I was sad they removed those parts but I guess that their artistic viewpoint was different. Also I'm low key tired of Yara Shahidi and Amandla playing all the black teens so I get what u mean about the afro

@bryn_ 5 жыл бұрын
@@Ella-yd4re In a lot of ways, they did leave out the parts that made the book so special to me. The book went into so much more detail about who the characters really were. For example: Natasha's relationship with her father and how that explains her disbelief in love, the social worker and his assistant and how their interactions impacted Natasha's life, even the security woman and Natasha's unknowing saving of her life. All of these things made the story so full and real that it makes the movie seem weak.
