i bought this keyboard to supplement(not that it needs it) my korg pa 600. the screen shields needs to be removed allowing the lcd screen to be seen better . i think that they may add a larger screen later on future models . i might either send it back or (if i keep it) remove the shield myself and see what happens. considering everything , this keyboard is a very minor upgrade from the old ygp 235 series , but still fun to play around with.

Hi! I want to buy this keyboard, I have one question about the Live Control with the two knobs. When you adjust some parameters like cutoff and resonance, and then you go to the second line to adjust reverb and chorus, the cutoff and resonance changes you did remains? Or you lost these changes? I mean, you can adjust all the parameters at the same time (cutoff, resonance, reverb, chorus, attack, release, etc) or you only allow to adjust only two at the same time? Thank you!!
@gearfacts8 жыл бұрын
The cutoff and resonance settings do remain. The mode switching system for the control knobs is not great for live playing, though - I recommend you watch my video "PSR-E453, things I don't like about it". I have a love/hate relationship with this keyboard!

Yamaha has done this on other series also. A pitch bend wheel and no mod?. I never use the pitch bend on these boards as I rarely EVER use the bend without the modulation. Tell a guitar player he can bend his strings, but not do a vibrato at the end or the bend. Yeah, good luck with that. Well, that is the choice we have been given. They do this with some of their even more expensive boards. What in the world are they thinking? Kills expression for guitar, flute, sax and other sounds where a bend and mod are performed frequently throughout so many songs. And not being able to see where the plug ins are, especially head phones? Otherwise, yeah, very nice board for it's intended use.

I have a 453 and have two more complains... FIRST: FUNCTIONS access is sequential (or demential)... And this kb has a LOT of them... Hard to go from one to another. SECOND: This KB has not a button for KEY SENSIBILITY (on/off) however a cheaper and earlier model like the PSR E423 has a TOUCH button. I really miss it in the 433 and 453. And WHAT exactly, is "DIN MIDI PORTS"? And to the rest of you, I am a BIG FAN of getting MORE for less, but in THIS case, the Yammie, is basically a fancy toy, but NOT in terms of sounds. For all of the OTHER refinements that you mention, I'm sorry, but you're going to have to start saving your money, to get MOST, but not ALL of the "features" that you are grumbling about. For FIVE YEARS, I did a lot of demos on a Casio CT-670, but I used a Tascam Portastudio 05 , Alesis MMT-8 and Alesis SR-16. All of the above, totaled about $1300 "back in the day". ( early 1990's) In the NOW, most of you are expecting "miracles" for a whole lot LESS than what they are worth! WRONG! If you WANT something bad enough, then you will PAY for it, but you don't have to pay "through the nose."

@powermetalrebel7 жыл бұрын
Can you kindly explain the reason(s)? From what I gather the YPG 235 is a portable grand with 76 keys instead of the E453's 61 keys. They both have the grand soft touch effect. And the YPG comes under/around $250. This made me quite curious.
@SamHodgson7 жыл бұрын
Tarek Jayde Rahman The Yamaha YPG 235 has 32 notes of polyphony(you can play 32 notes at the same time). The PSR e453 has 48 notes of polyphony and many more sounds and styles. For 76 notes check out the Yamaha PSR EW400 or PSR EW300.

Hi, do you have an idea when their new models get released, is it usually a three ish year cycle? I only ask as I'm close to buying either the 453 or saving some more and getting the 670, but the last thing I'd want to see is a newer model release just after I buy :( Finally, can I just ask, do you know if the voices are a big improvement in the 670 from the 453, it certainly sounds like it on some of the youtube videos, but none the vids say that the 670 voice /tones are different.

Hmm, I sense that a replacement for the PSR-E453 may be coming quite soon. It's been about 2 years now. To answer your second question - No, I can't discern any better sounds on the 670 but it does have a much better range of rhythm styles. Hope that helps :) Gearfacts

@TheWooloomoolloo7 жыл бұрын
Right, both E453 and EW400 lack the modulation wheel. Open a VST by U-he and you're puzzled how to use all those effects that literally every preset has. Cheaper and older Casios had both wheels and they were better made (this single wheel is a real cheapo). I simply cannot fathom this attitude. Even the cheapest MIDI and smallest keyboards nearly always have two wheels! An easy-to-access mod wheel is a must for all organ sounds, for a start. DSP Tremolo + Assign 6 helps get soomething out of it but it's not convenient and doesn't easily work for VSTs.The tiny screen is disappointing, too.

Great vid, think you missed two points even: 1- The repeat function adds unvoluntairely 4 metronome beats in front of each loop. VERY disturbing this can not be switched off, the repeat function becomes useless in e.g. live jam sessions situation. You can turn down the metronom volume but that leaves you with an empty bar of music each loop :-((( 2- As soon as you start recording a track, the ACMP kicks in even if it was switched off!!! The only workaround I know is to displace the splitpoint to the lowest key, which then still can accidentally ruin your recording if you press the lowest key.... I disagree on you with the cables being out of sight at the back. This is a simple estatics issue and once you get to know your keyboard, you'll find them blind folded. But who changes so many times the connections it's a drawback? I find it particularly pleasent that I can't see the connections and all the cables in my setup.

I'm not whining, I made literally 7 other videos showcasing all its great features. There's always room for improvement in any product :)
