The only team who could outbid them was the Mets. It was bad luck. Tucker is 2/3rd the player Soto is and they could easily afford em.

@@mtndewit several teams were in the mix according to Soto and Boras. Luck has nothing to do with it, Soto preferred the Mets which happens all the time - players prefer one team over another. The Yankees can afford most players, it doesn't mean they always get them. Trading away good players for a potential 1 year rental is a risk. Why not wait until next offseason?
