I cant believe that guy survived that fall and was able to walk. I had to google the injuries. According to his wikipedia "On 2 August 2007, during the Summer X Games 2007 Big Air section, Brown fell 45 feet (14 m) onto the bottom of the ramp below. Brown's injuries were a fractured wrist, fractured vertebrae, bruised liver, bruised lung, ruptured spleen and concussion.[6] After several minutes of unconsciousness, Brown walked off the ramp surface with assistance."

Remember 1999, my mate told me he had something for me to watch, at the time I didn't even know much about skateboarding or even heard of the X-Games, Vert Best trick was the recording, sat there watching (VHS back in the day), feeling the vibe of wanting to see this person I've never heard of to land this trick, the energy from the people dragged me in to it more and little did I know that seeing this happen would change my life. Going from a kid, barely knowing any one, the skateboard brought me close with people, my own little family and we'd skate day in, day out, worked and campaigned to get skateparks built in my home town, gave a light on the sport within our area. Those times will not be forgotten as I've moved on, but it was all down to watching a video, of a man called Tony Hawk landing the 900, who soon became a house hold name with the launch of the THPS series that everyone I knew wanted to play. That will always be my defining moment that got me into skateboarding, seeing the energy and the friendships, then I came across Rodney Mullen vs Daewon Song and I was hooked on my love for skateboarding, lets hope the Olympics after all has gotten better gives more entertain to those seeing skateboarding for the first time, as much as that one moment gave me. Knowing what The 900 did for skateboarding, definitely puts it at the top of this list.

That run from 11:54 on is absolutely ruthless. Together with the hyped up casters, beautiful! Also, seeing that meter at 14:08 fill up on the left side is very funny in a dark way.

Of course the 900 as the finale! You can see how excited everyone was, hyping him up. They threw their egos and performance to the side, because they wanted to see skate history happen. When Tony finally lands it, and they rush over to him, you just know that is true sportsmanship coming from everybody. An amazing thing to see.

I remember watching almost all of these growing up. I'm almost tearing up thinking about how positive an influence skateboarding was for me, even to this day at 38 years old. I'll never forget the Burnquist run, that first 900, and unfortunate Jake Brown hitting the flat so hard he tore internal organs and both shows flew off.

My take of this video is it is not just the "best" runs but moments that are significant to skateboarding. You have to understand it in the context of skateboarding's history. Women's skateboarding has exploded over the last few years, more than it ever has, and we are seeing more and more girl's skating from a young age. Skateboarding, while still popular, has been losing its spotlight compared to the 90s/early 2000s. Her run is a testament to a change in cultural influence that skateboarding has gained.

@@user-jl8nd3cr1e my original point stands. She didn't do anything exceptional to merit a gold medal. Most of her tricks are basic. And rewarding that with a gold medal is detrimental to women's skateboarding in the long run. Just my two cents

@@bofo408 women’s skateboarding isn’t scored the same as men’s, women don’t necessarily need to do anything flashy or complicated to score well. BUT we’ve seen a huge influx the past few years with very young girls raising the bar like Sabre being one of the only two girls EVER to perform a 540 at the xgames…. While being 13
