Jim Croce. It was a Friday morning. I just turned 16. I sat down to breakfast, opened the Daily News and there it was: Singer Jim Croce dies in Plane Crash. I was so upset I couldn't go to school. I cried for a week. His voice still brings tears. I just loved him. I still do. 💔

In such a short period of time he left plenty of songs. When Jim Croce died "I Got A Name" was hitting the charts. It's sad that him & Bruce Lee died that year. Those were very sad days when they died. But Jim Croce's music will always live on. It's as though his beautiful music speaks a poetic language.

Yep...1973 was the yr when I got my drivers license I was 17. In high school there was drivers ed. I remember when Bruce Lee starred in " Fists Of Fury" in the Springtime. Then in midsummer it was announced that now he was dead. It was him that started the Kung-Fu craze. By the of 73 we had the "Energy Crisis" some street lights were shut off. One was allowed to fill one's gas tank with only 10 gallons of gas. This was due to a gas shortage. Due to problems with the Mid-East. But to forget those problems on Friday night's. One would watch the "Midnight Special" with Wolfman Jack. He knew how to make Rockers forget those problems . That were happening all around them. Yeah...1973 was the year because many things happened awful fast. But there were many good memories as well. One wanders, what happened to the Flair-bottom pants, & the hair style that went with went with it, the dry-look.

Plus many Viewmaster reels. Never missed watching cartoons, Sesame Street, game shows like The Price is Right, The Joker's Wild and Hollywood Squares. Reading children's stories. My main issue with this is that *mobile* phones have been around since the 1940s. That was the first experimental *cellular* phone. What was originally called a mobile phone is now called a "car" phone. I prefer the original term "cell" or "cellular" phone because it is specific whereas "mobile" phone is vague and more properly refers to the more expensive "car" phones which have been around since the 1940s.

@@filthyanimal874 I don't know if you believe in reincarnation. I'm not sure I do. But I think some "souls" are older than others. I can't explain it. It's just there. I've always been interested in history, major events and small events. It doesn't matter. If you view FredFlix, I know a little part of you, and you know a little part of me. Have a good Sunday.

Saint Michael , I think there’s something to reincarnation. I also believe some souls are a lot older than others. I strongly believe that this is my first life although I often see and feel specters around me. Sometimes they make me feel uncomfortable. I never believed in them until I saw one for the first time. It was at Concordia Cemetery in El Paso, Texas in late October at 10:30 in the morning on a Monday in bright daylight. It was also very cold. My wife was completely oblivious to it but I saw it. It was faded orange in color and was wearing a cowboy hat. It’s eyes were completely black and it was invisible below its knees. It was staring at us. I didn’t sense evil but it was an uneasy feeling. After all, cemeteries are sacred blessed ground where no evil can enter. Sometimes they get too close and you can feel them. In my garage I was once looking at a picture of a family member in my cellphone and I felt a young lady get close to me and she was looking at the picture in my phone!!!! I saw her plain as daylight. She must have been around 16 years old and wearing old style clothing like a loose robe. It was really nice having this exchange sir and I hope you have a great Sunday too. God Bless. Oh, and one more thing, I wonder what you were doing the day I was born? 4/28/75

Paper Shadows I remember having to stock all those and the many other brands back in the day when they used to allow underaged kids to stock and handle them , before they ever put them back behind a counter and just had them on shelves in the stores lol. I think they allowed them to sit out in the open on store shelves til the end of the 90’s .. times have changed 😂.

I think this was the last year of good music in the 70's, before disco hit. I don't remember a lot of the other stuff - I was busy that year. Although I do remember seeing "The Sting" and figuring out the ending from the Mad Magazine treatment - about the only one I can remember that they gave away.

Yes 1973 was a great year because late August was my 2nd yr in High School as a junior. What was different was that for fall fashions, the Flair-bottom pants now were cuffed. That's what was unique about 1973 the Flair-bottom pants for that yr. I do remember buying a couple of pairs before going back to school. That fall I went back to school with a car 1967 Lemans Pontiac. It wasn't the greatest car but at least I had a set of wheels. When the Energy Crisis took place, Todd Rundgren was hitting the charts with "Hello It's Me." A nice jazzy rock tune. 1973 was a great year.

Remember this year very well! 1/2 HS Junior year, 1/2 senior year. First time drunk. First job that wasn't a paperboy. Father remarried after Mom passed. So many changes, so much life weirdness. Just continued being the nerdy dork I was (and most of my friends were too). Hung with the gear heads/gas pump jockeys. Stayed pretty much on the straight and narrow, despite all the life changes. I have no idea how. Live and Let Die - one of my favorite Bond movies. Prob because in NYC near start. Or a new, funnier Bond. Or maybe Sheriff J.W. Pepper!! One afternoon in summer 73, the robot radio station, WNBC - 66AM, played the movie's theme about 8 times in a row!!!
