You know i always found it pretty crazy that Persona 4 a game were you literally try to stop a Killer and nearly kill someone you assume has killed your sister, manages to be the most lighthearted of the series. Hell even Yu had it easier than Akira and Minato in his life.

I shed tears and later that night cried in my sleep, when I played til the part where nobody greet me at home. Before I moved out for work, the house I lived in was full of smile and conversation with my family. When I open my doors, there's only hallow. I felt sad though i never realised so, but when Nanako wasn't there anymore, the feeling hit me like a train.

Yellow is also associated with cowardice and there have been some moments where some of the characters show cowardly behavior. For instance, when the MC and Yosuke investigate the tv world to look for clues about Saki's death, Teddie keeps a safe distance from the duo and Yosuke accuses him of running away if things turned pear shaped. Another example is when Yosuke didn't want to go into the Steamy Bathhouse. In conclusion, while yellow can be associated with happiness and malaise, cowardice also has had some moments throughout the game.

Cowardice is literally half of th game. Every shadow boss (in a palce I mean) manifests into a monstrous form due to the cowardice of the characters. They are all too scared to accept their ugly true side and bring forth a monster thanks to their denial and cowardice

Nice video like always. There is just a detail that you got wrong. The God that possesses Namatame is not Ameno-Sagiri, it is Kunino-Sagiri. According to the wikia of P4, the are both spirits of the fog, but both are associated with different realms, Ameno is heaven while Kunino is Earth. It becomes ironic when you realize that you find Kunino in the level "Heaven" and Ameno in a apocalyptic version of Inaba, "Earth". Keep up the good work :)

I just checked, "Sagiri" apparently means "Fog Spirit," "Ame" is Heaven, and "Kuni" is Country; that, and it's not "Ameno-Sagiri" it's "Ame-no-Sagiri" as "no" is essentially "of" or some form of connection.

I'd like to ask at least. Any insight on what happened on what happened the end of Persona 4 The Animation: Yu's unease surrounding his relocation from Inaba causes a Shadow Self to appear in the battle with Margaret. Appearing as a pile of televisions sets with Yu's image on them, this Shadow is not fought and is quickly accepted. Shadow Yu states that "I was afraid of a future without my friends, afraid of leaving everyone behind and moving forward on my own...I don't want to be alone again, I've been alone, and I won't go back!" Yu quickly agrees with his Shadow, stating that all he wants is to be with his friends, whether this fantasy is real or not.

The Persona 4 Animation interested me because it gave Yu, who is supposed to be a blank slate character that the player projects themselves unto, a personality. He is quirky, deadpan and tends to spread himself too thin. I might do a video on his shadow in the future since it is semi-canonical. His shadow which takes the form of multiple TV sets also appears in Persona 4 Arena. But my initial interpretation of it is that he needs other people to define who he is. Without his friends, he is lost and empty. What are your thoughts on his shadow?

Great video, but I think you should have gone a bit more into the mythology surrounding the game, particularly in the case of Izanagi and Izanami. In Japanese myth, Izanagi was so overcome with grief for the loss of Izanami that he was willing to brave the underworld to try and bring her back. When he found her, she agreed to go with him on the condition that he refuses to look at her true self and instead only view her in the darkness. Izanagi ends up lighting a torch (presumably lighting the room in a yellow light) and sees that she has become a rotten corpse. Enraged, Izanami chases Izanagi out of the underworld, and she promises to kill 1000 humans each day. Izanagi responds by promising to give birth to 1500 humans every day to make for those who are lost. He then bathes in a spring of purification to rid himself of the taint of the underworld and gives birth to his three most important children, Amaterasu, Tsukiyomi, and Susanoo. Izanagi's grief can be reflected at how desperate and sad people can sometimes be willing to live a lie that everything is fine, even if it means ignoring terrible things like Izanagi would have had to ignore if he pretended that his wife wasn't dead. While things weren't easy by his refusal to do this, and it caused him to permantly be severed from the love of his life, he was able to grow past it once he was free from the underworld and bring to life things that are essential to the world (the sun, the moon, and the sea). So when Yu summons Izanagi-no-Ookami at the end to defeat the corpse that Izanami had been revealed to be he was clearing the fog she had created permanently.

so yea. it's me again lol. so, as he said lately, yellow represents happiness and sickness. and for me, it represents how colorful life is even you are having a hard times. so the yellow theme represents the bright side of the world but, the television represents the dark side of the world. persona 4 tells us that in any person, there is always a dark side of their lives. because life is not perfect tho. so the other meaning of yellow is toxic and disease. disease can completely changes others mood and also mental disease. it shows how anxiety and depression can change people now days. toxic things can give a person a disease, and that is the society now days. society now days are full of toxic people that can give a person a mental disease. the toxicity of people now days can totally changes the person's perspective in life or even the whole personality of that person. for example, a guy is always positive and loves watching anime. but when the toxic people always telling him that it's too immature to watch anime and he's useless because he always watches anime for the whole day. that positive guy becomes a guy who hates the society. and that is how i describe the yellow color of the persona 4

I believe there was a mistake... You mentioned that Namatame was possessed by Ameno-Sagiri. This may just have been a slight mistake, as Kunino-Sagiri, the one who ACTUALLY possessed Namatame, isn't all too memorable in the grand scheme of things... That is, compared to Ameno-Sagiri, who possessed Adachi, or Izanami.

Olivier Dubreuil-Gagnon while you're right I think that her wanting to change her sex is not actually her issue. It was her age since nobody took her seriously because she was younger than the officers. In the game while they are talking to her shadow the majority of the dialogue is spent talk about how because she is young she isn't taken seriously. While they do talk about her gender it is really breif like naoto herself hadn't really thought about her gender other than that it doesn't fit with her image of a detective looks like.

I dont believe Ameno Sagiri controlled Adachi. Instead, it latched onto Adachi as an avatar for humanity's insecurities and acted towards what it believed was humanity's will. It is fundamentally different from the final boss in p5 which reveled in humanity's indolence. I believe Adachi was in control and was the real mastermind behind the events in p4, even if unaware of Ameno Sagiri's existence.

Everything is all right but there's one thing I can't get. Shadow is the personification of your darkest and most shamefull thoughts and character trades but it still is the part of your real character. If shadow is accepted it becomes Persona. Persona-the social face the individual presented to the world-"a kind of mask, designed on the one hand to make a definite impression upon others, and on the other to conceal the true nature of the individual". It's pretty contradicting if you think about it. Also in Persona series Persona is sometimes defined as a mask created to survive the hardships of life and sometimes as person's true self... So how is it?

It depends. The characters of Persona 4 didn't accept some things. Shadows are suppresed feelings and don't have to be dark, its just those things that you tell yourself to not think about or do. A shadows is your true self after all. When the persona 4 characters accepted their shadows, it meant that they now confronted what they have been hiding. You can't solve a problem without realizing there is one. The p4 cast accepted their shadows which thus converted into their personas. When you think about it, the characters have this type of gimmick or trait of their shadow. Yukiko for example wanted to leave Inaba but being the type of good person that she is didn't want to think like that or more specifically others to see her like that. When she accepted her shadow, she now had a reason to want to stay in Inaba and that was because of her friends. The same can be with Yosuke and no longer seeing the town with hatred because of boredom but has his friends with him. It shows the importance of people accepting you in terms of socialising and your true self. People who you don't have to be guarded against or feel like you're in this mind field that can potentially blow you up. That's how they have their personas. The way they are being real with themselves and becoming better people by accepting themselves for who they are which is like facade to face those hardships but instead it's your true self.

Most of the time the theme you present is lost amidst with rundowns of situations. I feel like this video should sell persona 4 to new people or shed light to people who have played.
