AEW was their chance to prove to people that they were indeed "stars" and they failed because they were never stars they were just guys anointed as great by the internet wrestling community.

Remember they were in TNA before they went to Japan & they didn't get "over" there either. They got hot when Bullet Club took off & they rode that wave for a while. Since then they haven't really been shit. Back when Cody hit the indy scene he was accused of attaching himself to the bucks to get over, I think it was the other way around.
