I can give way more examples of it being prevalent in Hip Hop culture but perhaps you should take this as a chance to learn your Hip Hop history instead of me telling you.

Tupac and Mobb Deep were two of the biggest people in Hip Hop in their time, not too mention all the big artists back then were rapping about it and drinking it in videos.Tupac will be much greatly remembered than MA ever will. So to even compare the influence they have is dumb. Also if you look at the sales charts it has been going up steadily every year since it appeared in hip hop in the mid 90s, meaning that Young MA couldnt make the sales explode as they never exploded, it went up at a steady rate like before.
