@@jaredjestice7937 hey Jared!...great interview/video. I just started a Zenith STOL build, but started out wanting an early Kitfox ( when they first appeared in the 80s), was wondering if anyone has installed or researched leading edge slats for the Kitfox? I'm heading over to your channel and subscribing, Good luck with your upcoming competitions!

@@johnreed5253 thank you for subscribing. I really appreciate it! I'm not sure when, but I plan on experimenting with slats and seeing what they can do with a KF wing. I know of a few people that have put them on Kitfox's but i don't how well they worked.

Great interview Bryan. It was great to meet the Jestice family at Swamp Stol and give a ride to Silvia Jestice in SketchyNelly, she’s a fellow 701 owner!! Great family of fliers!!!

Thanks for introducing me to them. I was sitting next to Jared's other sister while he was competing. Lots of fun.

Wow! The tail comes up before he releases the brakes.
@jaredjestice79372 жыл бұрын
It's taken me a bit of practice to get the timing right of tail up and brake release, but I found that with that technique I can get airborne a good 20' shorter than if I start the takeoff roll before lifting the tail

Curious if you put helium in those big tires, would that give any advantage in lift? And is anything in the rules of competition that says you can't?
@bradybergen38372 жыл бұрын
Problem it's a way smaller molecule so it would eventually right through the rubber
@danielc93122 жыл бұрын
Would probably have to use a mylar liner so the helium doesn't seep out. It's pretty light material but the truth is I don't think it would make more than a negligible difference in buoyancy. "Air" isn't really heavy and a plane weighs much more than a party balloon. I feel the effect would be negligible.

My 1981 Volmer Jensen VJ-24w motorglider stalls at 15mph, and that's without any STOL modifications whatsoever. Imagine a feather floating. Bought for $38 on ebay! I got a Poorboy Ultralight for free with folding wings, they're not all their cracked up to be. You still have to prop up those heavy things and go through the chore of attaching the struts and jury struts and ailerons. I dumped flying them in favor of fully aerobatic quad copters I can hold in my hand and carry on my motorcycle and launch and fly from anywhere... I guarantee I can VTOL it in a shorter space than that Kitfox... on the first flight even.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3_NoY2JgK-reNk
