The YouTube Couple Torn Apart by an "Obsessive" Fan: Ryan Trahan and Haley Pham

Ryan Trahan and Haley Pham are called out in a video essay, and the response gets very messy.
In early September, a KZbin channel called SPV Laboratories posted a commentary video titled "ryan trahan and haley pham need to press pause."
Before it was made private a few weeks later, the video had nearly half a million views.
The video essay was just over two hours long and contained many criticisms about Ryan's and Haley's decisions and how they presented their actions to their young audience. And then it got really messy.

Wrong, urgent care or any care for a medical condition should always ask questions and get the feel of what's going on with the patient, hence get to know them. To just walk in, tell symptoms and get treated is why so many medical errors happen. Example I had an allergic reaction and went in to a not good urgent care and they just seen the hives and left. Never asked questions or read my information I filled out. They prescribed me a medicine I am allergic to and that I clearly put down. And had they asked i would have also told them. I think maybe you are misunderstanding the "get to know me" quote she used. Its more like get to know my symptoms, what I've ate in the last few days, where I've been? Get to know the patient well enough to find if there is a clue to why these symptoms accured. Not like be friends and know my life story...

Haley’s idea of “natural” birth control is based on a false reality. Yes you are more likely to become pregnant while you ovulate. HOWEVER, you can become pregnant at any time outside of that too. It’s a slimmer chance, but it’s still possible. The problem is that she is speaking to an audience of young teens who are just taking her word for it and probably have no idea you can still get pregnant outside that window.
@lernyl
@lernyl 3 жыл бұрын
ok but couldn’t you say the same thing about any contraception? condoms. you can get pregnant but it’s a slimmer chance. the pill. you can get pregnant but it’s a slimmer chance, and so on. what a person chooses to use as birth control is all up to the person. sure some kids can be naive but it’s unfair to place all the blame of haley. a young teen should be mature enough to understand the importance of birth control and choosing the right one for them. they should be going to a their doctor or at least do their own research online.
@pixienyx4306
@pixienyx4306 3 жыл бұрын
I think it’s dangerous for anyone who isn’t qualified to discuss birth control. What so many people forget is as mentioned here, you can fall pregnant at literally any time. Yes it’s normal to release one egg per month during your window, but you can release multiple eggs throughout the month. It can and does happen, multiple births being the outcome. You can also ovulate during your bleed. As much as NFP can work for some people, it’s too risky to use as a full formal form of birth control. The only guaranteed protection from pregnancy is abstinence. Anyone on birth control of any form, even multiple forms, can fall pregnant if they have intercourse.
@Rosiecotton2424
@Rosiecotton2424 3 жыл бұрын
Having horrible side effects from medical birth control is real and more common than you'd think. Family planning should be used alongside condoms and with that, it's decently effective. I was advised to use that when we aren't trying, and many of my other friends as well.

And i also just want to add, apparently she did address everything in a podcast afterwards, which is a good thing. Hopefully she really did learn from this and learns that her words can have a huge impact. I don't know these people, so I'm learning what I know right now, with this video, so i don't know the full scale of things. I personally couldn't use pills or the shot for birth control, as I know all too well about how it just doesn't jive with some people. It made me violently ill and I've tried many kinds over a long period of time before i gave up and went back to condoms. Birth control helps with so many things though, other than just pregnancy. I have endometriosis and am just recently (literally within the last 2 weeks) trying to work with my gyno to see if i have PCOS and birth control would have saved me from so much agony, had it have worked for me. Figuring out what works with you is really important. This is a matter that she should have approached differently, and I'm glad she's correcting it.

The only thing I find off about them is the Greece video and Haley's criticisms...You went to Santorini in the off season, not in the summer. You didn't even go to the rest of the country, just the part dedicated to tourism...there is so SO much more to take in and explore and offer. As a Greek American who has been to Greece in August, everything she said about Greece is NOT Greece. You don't go and complain bc it didn't look like the instagram pictures. All I could do was drive away cause that situation was freaking out me and my sister. I don't even like Haley (or know this Ryan guy) but she had a point when it comes to not listening to advice from the internet. Like she said, these people don't know them and their relationship the way their actual friends and family do. They don't have a real, in-depth look into their lives and only see what the two choose to let them see. So yes, the internet shouldn't have to control their relationship. If people think that they're too young or they're making horrible choices, then that's their opinion. It doesn't mean the two have to change their lives because of it. If it's a huge mistake, then let them figure that out for themselves. Jeez.

Early marriage 90% of the time fails, from what I've seen. Usually it winds up in divorce because they aren't as ready to settle down as they think they are, but that's just what I think. If you love someone a lot I think it shouldn't be too hard to wait for marriage, also my own opinion. However it isn't our place to bother anyone about it. Let people live. My beliefs are for ME to live by and not other people. Some people sound so rude when they bash people for their choices on personal topics like marriage and kids. I feel like it's not ur place unless you're personally close to that person, feel you know them well, and genuinely think a decision they're making is poor. In their relationships, between them. In their careers, between them. They are not required to grow for anyone and not every KZbinr needs to keep gaining followers and money consistently to be “successful” and “respectable”. They simply have a responsibility to each other, not to anyone else, not their audience and especially not people who watch a few videos and then make judgement. It's not weird to buy a house before marriage... actually it's kinda smart bcuz usually weddings (depending on if u do a big or small one) can cost a lot of money. There are many people and youtubers who had small weddings and the money they saved they ended up spending on a house. There have also been many people who have come out and talked about how they regretted spending so much money on their wedding because they could have saved it and spent it on other things. If you do it the other way around (buying a house then getting married), you get the best of both worlds (a house and a big wedding) --> if you're rich then you'll get that regardless. Also, some people build or buy houses for their kids so that when they get married; they don't have to be worried about a house. Therefore, it's okay if they want to feel secure about their finances before getting married (and if they have the money and can afford it, why can't they?).

Not only that but urgent cares don’t have the proper set up to take certain cases on, such as a rare infection that you should see the emergency room or the gynecologist for. So while yes the nurses and doctors you have should take the time and effort to hear what you have to say and they should treat you as an equal and give you respect, you also have to show them the same respect and realize some levels of health care are not properly situated for your case, that does not mean you can say “they aren’t a real ____”

@@Diet_Martini when she said the nurse 'wasn't a real doctor', I don't think she meant it in a way to disrespect her, but rather in a way to show that she understood why the nurse may have not taken time to get to 'know' her because it wouldn't have benefited the nurse since the nurse probably wasn't specifically trained in this area of health. I'm sure Haley was just in heat of the moment and worded everything incorrectly because she had a lot on her mind causing her to be stressed out. I've been in a similar situation SO many times and I know how it feels.

Actually all medical providers should do a through assessment and builds a rapport. I’m a Paramedic and a lot of nurses have that problem.

Just gonna say, when Yarrow claimed SPV dozxed himself, there's a difference between WILLINGLY releasing information about yourself and someone else revealing information without your consent.

Fr. Ryan, a person with a huge influence, by revealing that kind of info is dangerous, and completely unnecessary.

@Stanman121 I'm not really sure what you're meaning to say but Ryan released SPV's name, age, relationship status etc after they both agreed to keep the conversation private. SPV didn't consent to that information being released, but when he released his own living area, he was doing it willingly. People need to understand that consent is a major factor in these things.

@Chloe Taterka I was just trying to point out the difference between what Ryan said and what SPV said about where he lived. He didn't consent to what Ryan said being let out but he willingly said the other stuff.

The birth control question is the literal definition of mensplaining. A man explaining how a contraceptive that has been shown to be effective when used right doesn't work. That doesn't sit right with me

Those guys are actually very resonable. The commentor is just controlling freak who wants to be a parent to a young adults he doesn't even know. Creepy. The guy isn't even in the age to be their father. If we are talking about people acting their age.

SPV did have some valid points, but I find it weird that he's so... Kinda obsessed?? With other, younger peoples' lives and decisions. Let them make their own choices, long as they're happy, healthy and non-harmful? They should maybe be better to their younger audience, but WHY??

Please do not take birth control advice from a high school dropout OR an older man who makes videos about a teenager's birth control choices.
