Maybe she should have taken some of the time that she tried to make youtube videos, and actually watched some crime investigation videos. Then maybe this all could have been avoided. But I've seen so many of these cases where it seems these killers get tunnel vision and they think their plans are water tight and won't get caught

IMO, if you're deemed to have a mental issue that caused you to commit the crime, you should still do the same amount of time as you would in prison, but in a mental institution. And no parole, means no early release. And if you are deemed "well" enough to leave, then it's off to prison (for whatever time is left on sentence) for your crime(s).
