She wants examples of non-violent drill and doesn't like that it isn't the mainstream wave, but these guys know people who make it and she said both that she's not interested and that she wouldn't bring them on the platform? It applies for a lot of things, but you can either be outraged or you can try to gain understanding. "Renting" by KwayorClinch is a good example of non-violent drill from someone who works a 9-5, so drill as a whole isn't a problem.

I’m an elder and even I can see Zeze is completely out of touch. And she needs to stop being biased about dancehall music. The majority of the big songs and artists lyrical content is violent. But because the problems related to it are in another country (not on her doorstep) she’s puts it in the entertainment box. It’s no different from drill at all.

Poor “journalism”. How can you conduct an interview without an open mind and sound factual research and expect to achieve the desired outcome? You can’t say you don’t wanna “corrupt your mind “ listening to drill music and then go hard at two guys for whom drill is their bread and butter. She’s sloppy in so many ways when interviewing, reminds me of her interview with pastor Tobi. Only difference with that interview is she couldn’t go hard with the pastor because he would tear her up with scripture until she wouldn’t know where to turn.

I love what Zeze does, but just based on this, I feel like she's missing the mark terribly. Yes, there are RUDE songs, but then there's Dumpa, "Have You Ever Heard A Long Song On Drill?", and Face Reveal. The genre is evolving. 1 hour in studio = 1 hour off road. Drill makes me cringe sometimes too, so I get it. But we need to ask, "where are we failing these young people that they even have these things to say?" It starts with ignoring them, not listening when they speak, and then silencing them when they get louder. I think violent music makes people so uncomfortable because it reminds them of the violent realities of the world. They want to get rid of violent music without solving the problem for the same reasons we want homeless people out of our spaces, but don't care if they have a home.

Nah, I’m definitely on Zee Zee side on this one, the conversation could have moved into a space where bro’s could have pitched all the positives but they ran from the truth, drill music (as a whole) is a new gangster rap genre... that’s fine accept it then we move on... do drill artists in the main brag about gang violence and culture... yes again... we move on... how can drill be a healthier genre of music and expression because the underlying tone of drill is to brag, regardless what sub genre that’s the language used... and when it comes to the more explicit and violent tracks... it makes the music sound immature and it makes the artists look and sound “evil” for lack of a better word... I have always listened to everything under the sun that has come from black culture but music stems from a bad place an recreates that type of environment in the minds of its listeners... or normalises it at best and it should not be normal at all

@@VenxmMusic but when kinds listen to their favourite rappers who are most likely to be the upfront ones, they can see the change in their song content due to the music opportunities they were given, the main reason why violence is glamourised is that its the only thing these yg's know, its the only thing the live around, when u give them opportunities to change that then thats when their music changes

@@VenxmMusic If the environment didn't exist, they wouldn't have anything to recreate. In fact, I rather it continue as it is and let it be an uncomfortable reality check that these things are happening than pacify the artists to make the rest of the world feel comfortable. @danni8037 4 жыл бұрын
Mo Bo the majority of popular U.K. drill song lyrics are violent. Please don’t be purposefully obtuse lol it’s very blatant. Drill is not the only genre that involves a lot of violent lyrics, there are others such as non-conscious Hip Hop, some heavy metal etc. So although it’s not the only genre that involves violent lyrics it’s origins and the most popular drill songs do. As I said, I like drill but it’s not positive whatsoever lol don’t force it

The word semetic comes from the word Shem. SHEM was a son of Noah. Noah had 3 sons. Ham, Shem and Japhet. Abraham is a descendant of Shem. Abraham had a son whose name was Ishmael. Arabs claim to be a descendant of Ishmael. So that means Arabs are Shemetic or Semetic. Lot is a descendant of shem. Lot had two sons. Moab and amon. Certain books will tell you Moab are modern day Chinese. So they are semetic also. Elam was a descendant of Shem. Certain scholars and historians will tell you they are persians(modern day Indian/bengali, Iran etc) so they are semites also. Abraham had issac, issac had Esau and Jacob (Israel) So you see,it is not only Jewish people who are semetic. If an Ethiopian man is against all Arabs, he is being anti semetic because Arabs are semetic. And BTW according to the Bible. Deuteronomy 28:15-68 says that the Jews/Israelites would go into slavery on slave ships, have yokes of iron on their necks, have their children given unto another nation, and have their land, cattle, and good stolen from them by a nation whose symbol is the Eagle (Deut 28:49). Hmm? Did those things happen to who we call Jews today? 🤔I'll let you research that yourself👊🏿

Irrespective of what anyone thinks of Drill music. Just like other genres it's a reflection of the artists and producers experience. You don't have to listen to it. romario Williams the argument is not about not being able to speak your truth. And I like how these two men explained some of these songs are released retrospectively as I never thought about it that way. But some of the we drill groups speak very much in the present tense and there needs to be a point where these drill groups evolve and transcend from waps, chinging, “why you run? / don’t run!” Otherwise their argument about it not being negative will forever be null and void.

Facts they should have gave us a path out of our situation when we were young. I for one listen to drill cause I’m angry but I also listen to rap mainly, potter payper skrapz etc. I also grew up on akala. So I’m not stupid. Blame the system not the kids

Very disappointed with ZeeZee in this interview, you really seem so against drill that your not listening to key points made, your issue isn't with the drill genre its with the artists who rap the violence although they're rapping there lives. The genre itself isn't based around the lyrics and they're right if you did a little more research you'll find drill artists who rap no violence at all.

The violence amongst the youth envolved with the Drill Music scene is well documented. Not just by the news media, but the youth themselves are recording incidents on their phones and posting it on social media. There's a long list of Drill rappers being killed, being incarcerated or on trial for either murder or assaults on other drill rappers. In Chicago there's been rappers getting killed and their rivals are making songs dissing them after their dead. Not sure if the disrespect has gone that far in the UK. Until there's noticeable Drill rappers evolving lyrically beyond the ignorant savagery the genre will always be looked at in a negative light.

BN5 I’m not sure what this list about if you’re trying to educate me. I’m only familiar with Headie. But to clarify what I mean about evolving lyrically, I don’t just mean having a nice flow and having clever bars. I’m talking about producing thought provoking songs that have meaning. I don’t have an issue with rappers mentioning ignorant behavior in their lyrics. But it goes back having some level of balance. It’s been done with Gangster Rap and Grime. Can anyone list some drill tracks along with the artist that will make people think something different about this genre ?

Dear Zeze, I'm watching this interview under mature eyes, both SK and TK are incredible chaps who are doing a great job with the youth today. I didn't actually understand drill music until they explained to you about the history and its making. What I can't really understand is why your interview approach is quite aggressive, I enjoyed listening to SK and TK, I would have really enjoyed listening to more of what they had to say, I feel when interviewing you need to diligently remove the argumentative stance (the defensive barrier) and present with interest and a desire to actually learn. The likes for this video I can assure you is for SK and TK. In the future think 'Professional' you will get a better response. Best wishes.

Zeezee is an intelligent woman and its sad that people are tryna make her seem like she doesn't understand or she just talks for nothing. Theres many people that grew up in the 'ENDS' or 'HOOD' which is not actually the hood lol but black people just want to seem bad, but theres many people that didnt take the hood life. I know a lot of black boys and white boys, asian boys from the so called hood that never took the road, they built businesses, they went to school and got a job or whatever. What people need to stop is idolising the roads. Imagine you have a child and he or she is idolising the roads more than you or a positive person in life. This is our problem for black people, we make too many excuses, especially the bad apples, the bad apples try spread the negativity

In my opinion, bad apples don't get therepised a lot, meaning people like you only critise, but don't try to help or understand. Fair enough some people exaggerate the good life style, but that don't mean it's not real. You said it yourself. Some people that come from that environment have started businesses, because they have had different opportunities. Every persons story is different and if all we do is generalise and criticise, this will for ever be an ongoing problem
