You will have to search and pay more for your wallpaper . The antique market is depressed now, so furniture should be cheap . There is a very small historic restoration market, but once you find it the project will be great .

Don't forget those underground black-market pornographic novels like Laddy Chatterley's 'lover and Women in love back in the '20s. It would be interesting if you had a video on books of the time that were declared obscene and the author was put on trial.

It's really fringe for here, but when you were panning through a page of The Outlook, I saw an article on the Greek Orthodox Church congratulating Pope Pius XI on his accession. It talked about the relations between the two churches and the history, and at one point referred to “Greek” churches which submitted to Rome. It mentioned the Ruthenians, a little group in Eastern Europe, really a homeless people. I am a priest of the Ruthenian-Catholic Church in the US, so it really caught my eye. It really means nothing to all the other viewers here, and it was rather serendipitous to see the article, but I just had to mention it. BTW, I loved the Popular Science segment, and am heading over to the Archive just to look for those issues as well. Thanks for all the great content on your channel, and keep up the good work!

It was Popular Science for me. I enjoy seeing how many things they predicted, never came to be.

Imagine the advertisement for the black pirate and Wanderer of the wasteland and toll of the sea. The toll of the sea was advertised in 4 colors printing contrary to how it was shot. Many of the publicity stunts that theaters did for their silents were colorful because the movies were in black and white, but you can't see that in a black n white photo or newsprint.

We seem to have a similar feel for history, and I appreciate your work. I wonder, since we are in the 2020s, might a look back at the highlights of each year makes sense? I'd enjoy a video that reviewed the year 100 years prior. What was significant in 1923, and contrast that with 2023 if appropriate? Thanks to your work, I'm now writing a piece about James Cagney and Louise Brooks "...two movie actors with lives so similar and so different, yet so perfectly symbolic of the U.S. Twentieth Century." Both were culturally born in the 1920s. Thanks.

Everything anyone wants ..is not on-line... LOL...That research might be found in library's around the country ..or scouting places that deal in out of print magazines ...Its a very arduous task ..If this was the 1960 s it might be much easier because there were stores in NYC devoted to old magazines ......

Heya, Big Sheik, Channel, I just heard about a 1920s Black filmmaker, pioneer, Oscar Micheaux... if you have not yet please consider finding any magazine or news mentions. There is a Wikipedia page. He,was,a novelist and filmmaker in the 1920s. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And an annual film festival named after him. But is not a well known name. I had not heard of him till today. But he was a pioneer. Thank you!

I'm a little familiar with Micheaux, but I definitely want to check out his works in more detail. So, there probably won't be a video about him soon since I schedule my uploads a long time in advance and I still need to do research. I do have most of his surviving 1920s films, so I'll get around to watching them, hopefully soon. But I'm very interested in his story and you can't talk about the Harlem Renaissance without bringing him up! I'll definitely make a video on him at some point because he's still less known than he should be.

My 2nd comment after watching Part 1, and also thinking about pioneering Black filmmaker and novelist Oscar Micheaux... you mentioned THE CRISIS magazine. Can you perhaps go back or look and highlight articles about Mr Micheaux? Also, now that I have watched parts 1 and 2 (watched 1 again) I am just commenting that I am interested in Black publications to do w entertainment. I wonder if there are French, European, pubs, too w features and Black American entertainers. I wonder if much even survives, or if the pubs were more like ephemera than White focused mags like Photoplay. Anyway, it is Black History month, and Oscars are coming soon, and I dont know if you caught last night's Grammy awards but I was struck with how much the show was showcasing and honoring the historical long term contribution and influence of Black music artists and producers. I know the 20s were segregated and racist and it might be painful to wade thru the bias or atmosphere but I still would appreciate positive articles or photos of Black artists, filmmakers, stars, musicians.. and also, fashion and homemaking mags. Just some ideas for you. I wish you could show the Micheaux films but I suppose you will get in trouble. Anyway, I hope I made sense! Thanks so much!
