The use of color contrast is amazing. Their real lives are dingy, washed out, and rainy, while the games are bright, vivid, and surreal. It reminds me of the 1984 colorized version of Fritz Lang's 1927 film "Metropolis" (which you MUST see!). The acting is top fucking tier. The writing is amazing. Re-watching this show now with my wife (my kids and I have already watched, don't worry, they're in their 20s;)), and for her benefit we are doing the dub, and even the English-language voice actors are killing it, for the most part. The EVA for 001 is doing the old man-nerisms perfectly and mimicking the Korean old man accent and speech pattern (even though no other EVA is doing that) and it still comes off as honest and sincere, rather than a mocking and, potentially, very racist parody. This show hits on all cylinders, and your commentary, both as entertainers and as socio-economically-aware human beings, is spot fucking on. I'm here for it. Grab your umbrellas and get ready for the rain that's comin'.

South Korea has universal healthcare, but a lot of people have private insurance because the governmental insurance covers up to 60% so there is still some out of pocket expenses when it comes to more expensive procedures. I love how they titled this episode “Hell” and that, based on the previous episode, most assume that the game is about to become worse. But in reality, it is their everyday lives outside the game that exists as their living hell. In doing so they make the game seem like a miraculous opportunity where they’d obviously be willing to risk their lives to win, bc the slim chance of winning or even their death is better than living their actual lives. Ah, social commentary at its finest 😚🤌🏾

the reason why healthcare costs is so high is because of govt regulations and lack of competition. This is not capitalism. In industries that have free-er competition and less govt involvement, such as technology, electronics, you can see that prices drop and quality increase over time. In industries that the govt are heavily involved in, such as healthcare, education and housing, prices keep rising. Don't blame this on capitalism. What we have now is crony capitalism, not free-market capitalism.
@ericew5763 жыл бұрын
America has one of the least regulated health care industries in the world. Among wealthy countries, America has some of the most expensive care for some of the worst health outcomes. Americans travel to Mexico Canada and Cuba for health care. Free-market capitalism is crony capitalism. Are you saying your system hasn't been tried yet, because I don't know what country you're thinking about. America has some of the least government involvement in the world, but other countries are better. How would you solve your "crony capitalism"? Government intervention? That's not a free market. Learn a little about the world. You will probably assume I'm a socialist, but that's not my point. I'm not arguing for a solution. I'm just stunned you think there isn't a problem with the "Free market".
@jin_asap3 жыл бұрын
@@ericew576 Your claims are simply not true. US does not have free-market capitalism in healthcare a(nd education). Google "mises institute america healthcare regulations" and give the articles a read. "Are you saying your system hasn't been tried yet" It has been tried before. In the earlier decades of the 20th century. The US became the most powerful country with the smallest government involvement in the private sector.
@ericew5763 жыл бұрын
@@jin_asap Thank you. I will check out "mises institute America healthcare regulations". However, early 20th century was clearly not a good time for too many Americans. Working conditions were terrible, and free market bubbles lead to the worst finance disaster in American history, the Great Depression. Rapid growth followed the government investing in America. From the 30s to the 60s taxes were high, living standards improved, and the government created the auto industry. Without the government creating the interstate highway system American car manufactures wouldn't be able to accomplish what they have. Also it took government intervention to integrate schools racially. Charter schools and private schools massively expanded to continue white only spaces. If were considering going back to the system in the early 20th century, I'll gladly keep myself here. I'm glad we can comment without resorting to pure insults.
@jin_asap3 жыл бұрын
@@ericew576 The Great Depression was caused by the federal reserve and govt interventions in the economy. Not by free-market capitalism. You can read up on this on mises institute too.
