Man, old Sindel is a much more interesting character than the reboot. Sure, old Sindel had her boring generic Evil Queen phase, but it was pretty explicitly mind control and only lasted for one game, before being a Monarch attempting to fix her selfish mistakes. But no, new Sindil is stuck on Evil Queen mode, and her last action before forced into evil queeness is now super good, instead of giving up on a hard situation, and coming to regret it later.

A few thoughts on the Sindel Massacre scene: -Some characters can take multiple hits...some die from obviously lethal strikes like palming their nose into their brain, stabbing them in the neck, etc...but Cyber-Sub, whose entire body is covered in armor, whose bones are metal, and who we JUST established last chapter can beat Goro, Kintaro, and Ermac at the same fucking time... He somehow dies from a single uppercut. They must have legitimately expected us to believe the Lin Kuei put an offswitch on his chin. -And nobody uses their powers/projectiles, they all just run in to punch her. -And Nightwolf is apparently immune to her scream but he's the only one? -So lemme ask this: If the only reason to switch Smoke and Sub-Zero's fates was to do something different with them and give Human Smoke a chance to be a character for a while...why would you kill BOTH of them? -Why would you go through the effort of making Stryker, who used to be the worst character in MK3, into a badass... if you're not going to let him live past this? -Y'know, I really liked the Outer World Investigation Agency. And the Agency can't really exist without Jax, because he's the brains of the operation, Sonya doesn't really do anything important there, she doesn't have the technical knowhow to build portals with science or reprogram Cyrax or anything like that... so I guess what I'm saying is, Jax being dead right then made the future stories worse. -Minor gripe: And hey, how come when EVERYONE ELSE in Mortal Kombat steals a soul, it's green... but when Sindel - who only knows how to do it because she was given Shang Tsung's powers - does it, it's purple? -Oh, and y''know how whenever Shang dies in other games, we always see a big swarm of all the souls he's ever stolen get set free and fly off into the sky? And setting those souls free is Kenshi's whole character motivation? Well Sindel had those souls in her, but we don't see them fly free when she dies. So where are they now?

I hate to be an ass, but I think Ed leaving (though obviously he doesn’t need to die, that would just be tragic) would probably allow the series to truly move forward. I’d say Vogel should probably leave to honestly. Their hatred for some of their own characters (especially Liu Kang and Hsu Hao) should honestly be removed from the franchise so classic characters can get their due respect and underutilized ones can get the spotlight they need.

I really loved in Deception Sindel and Jade work together to free Kitana of Onaga's control and Sindel was seen crying and hugging Kitana and Jade smiling I think that was to indicate The 4th Snake of the roles being reverse and Sindel knew what it was to be mind controlled and have her daughter save her that was a happy ending.

Sindel's character in mk 11 is so damn baffling when you look at her arc from mk 3 to armageddon. She starts out as a McGuffin for khan only to develop into the compassionate caring mother that won't hesitate to protect her family by any means. What was so wrong with this that it needed to be overhauled into something that's the polar opposite? This is something I find the most egregious of the neather realm era. A severe lack of compassion and respect towards allies and loved ones that isn't the Briggs or Cage family or Sub -Zero and Scorpion.

Although let's be honest here most Mortal Kombat characters deserve so much better. Even the ones we hate. Honestly, I think pretty much every woman in this series, with the exception of Sonya, was handled poorly and is too simplified. And I'm not saying Sonya isn't over-simplified. I just don't see much potential in her as a character. I'm also not counting the new kids or D'Vorah. Again, lame characters in general and I don't see them having much potential. However, most of them have potential to be interesting or could at least have some development past their basic roles. For example: Tanya could be a traitor still, but have a good reason for it. I really see no reason for her treacherous nature. In MK X, her wanting Edenia back is sensible enough, but before that she didn't seem to hold much true loyalty to Edenia. I think perhaps she could have been improved by making some sort of internal class struggle or holding a grudge against the royal family. Maybe she was a poorly-treated servant. Maybe there's some history where she was meant to be the princess/queen but her family was somehow ousted by Jerrod and his line. Mileena knowing Kitana and possibly even Jade and Sindel is far better than the reboot version where she doesn't really know anyone and has no attachment. However, I suppose you could go with the idea that she thought Kitana should be her sister and is upset with the fact that Kitana is repulsed by her. There also could be some internal conflict between loyalty to Kahn due to that being bred into her, and the knowledge that Kahn finds her just as disposable as any other of his subjects. Jade is done well enough, but her outright disappearing made no real sense. Perhaps she could have returned and somehow brought revanants Kitana and Sindel back to life. I have tons of ideas for stories, but I'll leave it there lest I turn this into my own video (which might actually be really fun, to be honest). I still think those ideas would have been better than the actual stories we got with these characters and most others. I know fighting games aren't meant to be known for their story, but MK's lore always stuck out to me as one of the most interesting. While it's more the mechanics and looks that are important to fighters, a great story with great characters makes it outstanding. I would love for the writing to get better in MK 11 but I'm not holding my breath.

MK absolutely has the best lore and setting of any fighter. They've squandered that since the reboot. You could do so much with these characters and yet, they just don't. They keep them at a baseline level with only a few select characters getting any kinda of development. You should absolutely consider a video or write-up with your ideas. I'd definitely watch/read it.

I feel like they squandered a ton of the lore and character development all for the ideas that a) They need to appeal to a new audience and b) people who play fighters don't care about story and won't be able to/won't want to follow anything too complicated. The first I can understand, but feel it was executed poorly, and the second I personally find insulting. Not all fans of fighting games (or games in general) are morons who don't/can't follow and appreciate a deep, meaningful story in addition to the mechanics of the games. But yes, perhaps I will indeed make a video with these ideas. I do quite enjoy analyzing/writing stories and also delving into a fighter would be a deviation of my main schtick (I mostly stick with RPG's and action/adventure titles). Thanks for the positive feedback and good ideas for my own work. ^^

If you say the story is great, no one dares to say "who cares about story?" or "why so much thought put into story?" etc. It's really dumb. Interesting comment. For me though, what I have problem is that they have the chance to flesh out characters that rarely appear or only appear once. Aside from Kenshi they could have Li Mei, Sindel (this video already address that), Kai, Sareena, Fu Jin, Kira, Tanya, Cobra, Nitara, Ashrah, Hotaru, Rain, even Chameleon and Tremor as not only playable but play more important role in story. Some of them could take the spotlight to at least temporary replace the character that had been killed. Kai, Li mei, Sareena, and Sindel are a great character to use instead of creating four new character (Cassie, Jacqui, Kung Jin, Liu Kang) to take the main character's place. D'Vorah is interesting but her role could be replace by Tanya. Kotal Khan and Erron Black is the one that could stay I guess. I feel like it's a shame that all the character I mention didn't get the same spotlight while there are many chance to do it. They keep creating new character while left the old character that have a chance to shine to death.

Sindel having to defend her realm against the forces of darkness with Sindel fighting against Shinnok/Quan Chi. Mileena and Sindel's Wasted Plotential episodes are indeed my favorites, considering I believe they expand and provide in-depth character studies and rework already established storylines and narratives to be more in line with their given personality, for this case, this storyline works well with what is known and established about Queen Sindel. With the presence of Jade being revealed in MK11, Sindel must get revealed too. Sindel does vow to become a better mother and queen of Edenia. Jade would purposely free Sindel with the help of Kronika (Jade is another servant of Kronika maybe) so they can team up. Sindel speaks out to Kitana and is able to free her from being a revenant and takes a human Kitana to fight revenant Kitana in the present. The same for Liu Kang, Kung Lao etc.

Perhaps, but if you notice most fighting game franchises that do that have, in my opinion, a hard time resonating more vibrantly than their predecessors. I come back to Tekken 5 for this reason: They continued the story, but to me, it felt like the characters' participation in the tournament is for plot convenience (who knew that Paul entered T4 to fight against Kazuya, gee, it's not like he wanted to prove he won Tekken 3 or anything as was his prologue in T4). That's why, lorewise, Tekken 5 and MK9 have a hard time resonating for each of us respectively. Back to the MKverse, Wated potential can talk about the fact that the mk team shoved in new characters that weren't needed. Bo rai cho as the comic relief/ wise mentor mix doesn't work, while Hsu Hao has been thrown into the afterthoughts of the MK design team (can someone tell me why he's so hated, is it because he's a discount Kano or something?). Another example of wasted potential that could be done is Shujinko, I think a character that was brought on as the "next gen Liu Kang" as Boon said, received an absolute cold shoulder in Cassie's MKX ending.

Personal thoery: Armageddon (2006) and the Armageddon intro from MK9 are set in different timelines. Kronika meses with each timeline so things happen differently in each of them. It would make sense she would mess with SIndel's past to get a different result. Basing this on the fact we see Raiden and Liu Kang fighitng in Armageddon a few times during Raidens flashback

OR on a positive note! Jade could very well play a pivotal role in revenants resurrection. Sindel might be one of the very fortunate few restored and by doing so is her original self again. But she can't get through to Kitana. Reference to Sareena's words to Kitana in MKX, the will to break free from the revenant form must be strong. As a result, Sindel toward the end of the MK11 story sacrifices her self save Kitana. Seeing her mother die before her eyes allows Kitana to break free of the dark magic and resurrect herself

Jade's Desert actually IS in Earthrealm. It always was. Remember how Cyrax getting stuck in the sand there ended up being canon. The thing is, they never explained why it was called "Jade's". In fact, it's not called Jade's anymore in MK9, probably because they realized that was a dumb name that made it sound like it's in the wrong realm.

I too think that "Jade's" desert was in fact in Earthrealm. MK9 story confirmed it since Sindel was ressurected in Earth. I don't know why it was called Jade's desert back in the old timeline since it had no relations to Jade herself. There was another weird named stage in MK Trilogy called "Sciclac Busorez". It's a direct reference to Classic Sub-Zero. In umk3 it was the stage where player would fight against him as he was one of a hidden opponents. Jade's desert however didn't get that kind of relation or any other for that matter. Cyrax‘s desert would be much more meaningful name.

Why do you consider the dumb unexplained name of the stage more canon than Cyrax being there? Cyrax getting lost in a desert and being rescued by Sonya and Jax is part of his bios in MK Gold and Deadly Alliance. It definitely happened in the story. And like I said, they don't even call it "Jade's" anymore in MK9. Its name is just "The Desert" now. Hell, Earthrealm and Outworld were half-merged during Ultimate MK3. Maybe the reason the desert belonged to Jade is because it was an Earthrealm desert combined with some Outworld territory that used to be part of Edenia, where Jade is from? Maybe the reason it was called Jade's is because, while Kahn was conquering Earth, he said "Serve me well and you can have this chunk of land as a reward" or something like that?

Outworld could very well have deserts, it has a Living Forest afterall. I've always taken Cyrax being stuck has a running gag- he was constantly malfunctioning in the MK3/MKT/UMK3 string of games. You haven't provided significant proof that Jade's Desert is in Earthrealm. Now, I'll concede that maybe some part of Earth and Outworld merged to create the desert, that's a possibility.

Where to even begin with this mess... Honestly even her MK9 arc with sacrifice instead of suicide still had potential, but just like with cyborg Sub-Zero - they wasted it. Instead of her killing everyone one by one, she attacks along with LIn Kuei. Hell, they could even make it to be her chapter as she fights earthrealm warriors while others are busy with cyborgs. She fights Kabal, Jax, Smoke and Kitana, killing each of them. After that Nightwolf defeats her and performs a purifying ritual on her (if he can vaporize people with beam of light, i don't see why not). Once battle is over and Sindel gets her free will restored she realizes what she just done and would be devastated that after sacrificing herself to make earthrealm save, her daughter dies protecting earthrealm, even worse - from her hand. She falls on her knees next to Kitana, while cursing Shao Khan and Quan Chi for that. Stryker, Sonya, Sub-Zero and Liu Kang would want her dead for killing their friends, while Jade, Raiden, Johnny and Nightwolf would oppose the idea. Johnny says that there was enough death already (showing that he can serious for once), Jade and Nightwolf that killing her now will only help Khan succed, while Raiden has another vision and realize what "he must win" means (yes i would skip the part with him fighting revenants). He explains that they must let Khan win so the Elder Gods will -move their worthless asses- intervene. Liu Kang after hearing that calls Raiden insane and storms off to fight Shao Kahn himself. Everyone follow him and stand before Kahn, who sends Reptile, Baraka and other jobbers against them, while Sindel and Raiden speak with Khan. Liu Kang tries to attack so Raiden stops him and they fight. Khan merges realms and Elder Gods show up. Liu Kang defeats Raiden and jumps on Khan. Khan kills him, possibly by punching him trough his chest. Raiden has no power in now merged earthrealm so it's Sindel who gets possesed by Elder Gods. After Khan is defeated, Elder Gods kill him and trap his soul in some heaven sanctuary (because they are dumbasses and so he can possibly return in the future). After the credits Quan Chi would come where Khan died after a while with Scorpion and his five revenants to make Liu Kang one as well. Since Quan Chi prefered Noob over him and he has 5 revenants now, Scorpion starts feeling disposable and has doubts about his actions. Maybe he could contact Nightwolf, tell him about revenants and that he doesn't know wheter they can be helped or not. Upon hearing this, remaining earthrealm warriors strive to find the way to save their friends. They could also establish that Bi-Han turned into wraith because of his crimes and Hanzo into spectre, because of his lust for revenge (or something like that). That would set up much better sequel which could star characters that previously weren't fleshed out as much before like Jade, Sindel, Stryker and Nightwolf. That's my take on how they could make MK9's story slightly less insufferable while keeping their stupid ending and character based chapters. I didn't mention Sindel in MKX, because at this point there's not much to do without retconning previously retconned stuff.

I like your idea alot :-) I'd only flip Raiden and Sub Zero when it comes to the Kill Sindel/Don't kill her debate. I can see Raiden wanting blood because near the end of the OG timeline, he became Dark Raiden and was very harsh and unforgiving, so I would put him in Camp Kill Sindel. Subzero has long been characterized as being very wise, honorable, and even forgiving (see his history with Frost). Given those qualities, and his being cyberized in the reboot, he'd probably be able to understand being possessed better than most, and spare her life, even though he'd be intensely angry with her and wouldn't trust her.

In the original timeline Raiden and Sub-Zero were as you described, but i tried to make it consistent with this new timeline and showcase how better the story could be even without changing the ending and story structure. Raiden troughout the game tries to save as many people as he can, while Sub-Zero not only left Sonya alone with mortally wounded Jax, but also would kill Scorpion if Lin Kuei didn't capture him. Ironically he softened a bit once he became a cyborg. I made my take in 5 minutes while watching this video so there's room to improve it. Might as well be Sub-Zero being against, while Raiden trying to grasp the meaning of the vision, so he doesn't take a stance in this one and he once he realizes what must be done and explain this to the group everyone drops the topic of Sindel. With this change it actually feels better so i guess you just proved that these games had only one writer :D

I would be fine with female beating the main villain twice in a row. It's not an issue that Cassie is female (Takeda beating Shinnok would be just as contrived), but the fact she beats Shinnok, who should squash her into a pulp, is just ridiculous. The same goes for Johnny. If it was Raiden or Fujin? Fine. Scorpion, Sub-Zero or Kenshi? With proper setup it could work. Literally anyone else? Nuh-huh.

She and Takeda were also beaten by Ferra/Torr and by Ermac along with Jin and Jaqui. In the woods she could barely take down one soldier from Kotal's army. I'm not saying Takeda wouldn't be slightly better, but either of these 4 defeating Shinnok is just awful idea. Since they were introduced in MKX, all of them should play secondary role, then taking primary one in MK11. As it is now it's hard to feel sympathy or root for them, since Jin already beaten Raiden and Kotal, Cassie beaten Kitana, Sindel and Shinnok at his maximum power, Takeda beaten Ermac and Jaqui beaten Ermac and Kotal. This makes difficult to take Raiden, Kotal, Liu Kang or Kitana as a threat in MK11. Takeda, Jaqui or Jin beating Shinnok wouldn't make much of a difference in this case.

Your comments about Mileena actually struck a chord. I always felt with Mileena they should've further explored an arc where she's not evil for evils sake, but rather she's like a younger sibling desperate for approval and wants what she feels she's earned. If they do bring back one of Mileena's clones for MKXI I think it would be interesting to see a role reversal with Kitana,now a co-ruler of the NetherRealm, and Mileena fighting on the side of Light to prevent a NetherRealm invasion, and possibly be the one that turns Kitana back to the forces of good. Oh, no, thank you for this. Make sure you watch Mileena's episode too since I went deeper into her character there. Mileena will also be brought up a little in the Ermac episode. As for a potential additional clone, it could be another Kitana clone, or a clone of Mileena. Either way, it could have any personality, really. A heroic Mileena, maybe one who sees Kitana as a sister and wants to save her, could be a possibility.

Fun fact, if you want Mileena not being evil for evil's sake check out the Kitana/Mileena Ending(s) for MK4 (they basically go over the same events with the only difference being which one wins the altercation. Needless to say Kitana's is the one that's canon). In MK4's endings, Mileena actually wants to rule Edenia *with* Kitana and (presumably) Sindel, not just to rule a realm but to be a family again and all that jazz. However, Kitana refuses as to her Mileena is just a reminder of how fucked of Shao Kahn is. It's after Kitana disavows her as a monster that Mileena goes full dark side. Spending the entirety of the Deadly Alliance (off screen) and Deception arcs doing anything she can to screw her "hateful" sister's life & legacy up as much as possible. Then sometime in between Deception and Armageddon her antics impressed Shao Kahn and he invites her back into his good graces (despite her failures in MK2 & MK3). Once again, #OldTimelineIsBestTimeline
