True to wasted potential: why not have Kung Lao “pull unknown power out of his ass” to defeat Shinnok while Liu Kang marries Kitana becoming King of Edenia rather than always being Liu Kang’s shadow? Not necessarily out of rivalry rather showing his full potential as he too is descended from the Great Kung Lao. There’s so much potential for both Kung Lao and Mileena as they are both only characterized in the shadows of their respective counterparts, Liu Kang and Kitana... Imagine those potential hereditary rivalries lol But overall your synopsis and potential for the story is better than what the last game brought to the table y far!! 👍🏽👌🏽

MK 9, being the third time Mortal Kombat got a cinematic story but still being the first time focusing on the original casts origins and story throughout the first couple of games being, where we see the personalities of the characters with voice acting rather than ending arcade form, it was MK reborn in essence. Even us long time fans felt like we were meeting these characters for the first time somehow. So killing them off for a new generation that probably didnt know didley shit about MK in the first place was a waste of time. To be QUITE honest.

Your story adds more to the lore given how far the franchise has come. Yet Netherrealm has this hate boner to make Lui Kang since Deadly Alliance. Like why is it that Lui Kang's ending always have him being evil like where did that come from? Also Lui becoming a god to replace Raiden would be epic as I really thought he would go that route but honestly it was Dark Raiden that sent the message so who is to say he wanted this to happen to further his placement in the timeline while having his enemies out of the way earlier. A big twist would be that Dark Raiden master minded this to win Armageddon instead of Shao Khan.

Nyron Arnold Liu Kang, scorpion, sub zero, Kung Lao, kitana, mileena and raiden are the most popular playable character in every mortal Kombat. Johnny cage was good on paper but he was still boring, Liu Kang is way better and it made sense atleast why he beat people but Johnny cage randomly using his shadow kick to kill people is ridiculous.

Since I'm new to MK, MK9 was my first MK game when I was a kid, so I never got to play the others, so I enjoyed MK9 and enjoyed MKX a lot, and the next generation thing never bothered me, cause I love to Takeda and Cassie Cage hella lot. That being said, your idea is way better than what we got, I really do enjoy it. I've always wanted some sort of redemption arc for Noob, helping scorpion a bit and reuniting with his brother, becoming more of Bi-Han than Noob, despite him being what he is. And I love that Lui Kang would be a hero again. It's brilliant. You have great ideas overall with every character, not just the ones I mentioned, you should really hit NRS up, try applying for a job, and get that job after you apply, cause you really deserve that.

The only thing I vehemently disagree with is Kuai Liang not becoming human again. NRS was smart enough to understand that Sub-Zero fans were pissed after what they did to him in the previous game, so I don't care if it's backpedaling I'm glad we got human Sub-Zero back. I'm even happier he became the Grandmaster of the LK just like in the original timeline. Other than that, I think you have really good and interesting ideas.

The idea of letting dudes redeem themselves again is nice since there's a decent amount of good ideas in 3D MK. Like the order realm and chaos realms are stuff I love and I enjoy the designs for the Order characters, it's also nice to have some more neutral realms since Netherrealm and Outworld might as well be villain only territory. Order realm established itself as a good neutral realm since right off the bat there's a civil war and resistance going on, that instantly tells you that yeah this realm won't be on your side but it also won't be against you since they have their own shit to worry about. Chaos realm is also nice and it had a nice character from it, one that ties in well with MK's gory approach.

Shinnok has the greatest potential. Everything shao Kahn was his motives goals were just a side story for the greater threat that was shinnok plotting an even greater invasion and not warring against earth but merely taking the good guys converting them into his own slaves which was much more creative and efficient and intelligent of shinnok to do than Kahn battling them directly. Shinnok took what came out of the good guys and converted them to his own will. Shinnok is more powerful than shao Kahn and Onaga yet they made this ass pull where they made Cassie and Johnny have power to defeat specifically elder gods.....that’s fucked..... Basically no one would or could stop shinnok in his normal form but then he transformed and still Cassie was his kyptonight. His greatest and only weakness was Cassie and Johnny. They should’ve let shinnok best and kill some people both in his normal and demon form before they even allowed him to get defeated. They really disrespected what he was and his story and elder god and fallen elder god status

I really like the mid section you wrote instead of the 2 minute war that's in MKX, it felt like peak Game of Thrones warring families but towards the end after Raiden dies it gets a bit cliche and played out. Personal preference I suppose that I'm just a sucker of once good friends turned enemies due to a series of unfortunate events, I find their personal struggles relatable and a much better bittersweet end to them.

I like your idea of a different version of mkx story, but I have some slight alterations. My ideas for this game would have it be like the empire strikes back of this mortal kombat reboot trilogy. For starters, I like the idea of shinnok doing his invasion 2 months after mk9, with the whole story looking bleak for the earthrealm heroes, and they desperately fight back with only raiden, Sonya blade, Johnny cage, kenshi, and fujin against shinnok’s army. Side note: My first alteration would be to have quan chi change sub zero into a revenant instead of remaining as cyber sub s zero, as in the actual mkx comics he still had somewhat of a free will, that way we would get the really cool revenant design. I would also keep noob saibot as the elder god’s champion and have them send him to aid raiden. I would change your idea so that he would remain a tragic character, as the elder gods were able to restore bi han’s soul and humanity but cannot change him from the shadow wraith that quan chi created him as, so no mix of noob and sub zero. In desperation, the earth realm heroes do split up like your idea, where each team goes and try to create alliances. Johnny cage, Sonya blade, and kenshi go to outworld, which is in a civil war between Kotal and Mileena, who are fighting over who becomes Kahn due to Shao Kahn’s absence. Kotal agrees to ally with them in exchange for their help, but ends up being difficult because of Mileena’s side, which consists of: Baraka, Ermac, Reptile, Skarlet, Tanya, and Rain. However, Kotal, the earthrealm heroes, and Erron Black barely win against them. During this civil war, it is revealed that Kano is continuing his business of selling weapons to both sides and is secretly working with Mileena (obvious Sonya vs. Kano fight). Unfortunately, Mileena and her followers escape, hinting to a future conflict. Kotal is then crowned Kahn, he promises the earthrealm heroes that the outworld army will be ready to march into earthrealm and help fight off against Shinnok’s demon army (however, this doesn’t happen as immediately he is told about the shokan’s uprising with goro, kintaro, and sheeva leading the charge. He then wishes earthrealm good luck fighting without him). Raiden teams up with Bo’Rai’Cho and noob saibot and travels across order and chaosrealm while Fujin stays behind to fight in earthrealm just like your idea. However, fujin does get killed and resurrected as a revenant and joins shinnok. Shinnok and his army then goes to the sky temple and starts to affect the jinsei. The two teams then come back together in earthrealm to witness shinnok’s corruption of the jinsei. They then quickly travel back to the sky temple, where they then must fight the revenants. Raiden fights against fujin. Bo’Rai’Cho fights Liu Kang and Kung Lao. Noob fights against Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Smoke. Sonya fights against Kitana, Jade, Sindel. Johnny Cage fights against Jax, Kabal, and Stryker. Kenshi fights against Sektor, Cyrax, and Nightwolf. Raiden defeats Fujin, and goes on into the sky temple, feeling remorseful for what happened to his friend. Bo’Rai’Cho gets killed by Liu Kang and Kung Lao, and the two chases after Raiden. Johnny Cage and Sonya defeat theirs, and Johnny consoles Sonya after seeing Jax and their friends, reminding her that “it’s not truly them” like in the actual game. Kenshi defeats Sektor, Cyrax, and Nightwolf but they retreat. Finally, Noob fights and defeats Sub-Zero, feeling remorse for his brother. He then turns his attention to Scorpion, and they argue over who was innocent and who was guilty in their rivalry. They fight and Noob wins. Noob then uses his shadow powers to reveal that it was actually quan chi that murdered Scorpion’s family and clan. Scorpion expresses sorrow and remorse toward noob, ashamed of killing him and his actions under quan chi. Noob forgives Scorpion, telling him that it was quan chi that was responsible and that he found new purpose being the elder god’s champion. The two then decide to team up in order to kill quan chi. Noob also expresses wanting to restore Smoke and Sub-Zero, but they were revealed to have disappeared, like the other revenants. Noob then vows that he will save his brother from his corruption. It cuts back to Raiden, who is traveling through the sky temple and reach the jinsei chamber to fight Shinnok, and then noticed he is wounded from his previous fight. He goes in a confronts demon Shinnok (his corrupted form at the end of the actual game). However, before he can fight him, Raiden is confronted by Liu Kang and Kung Lao. They fight and Raiden comes up victorious. The undead duo then cursed out at Raiden about how much they hate him and that how he is failure and that he lead them to their eternal doom before falling unconscious. Raiden is then left alone, feeling sadness and remorse because of those words. Raiden then turns his attention to Shinnok. They fight, and at first Shinnok defeats Raiden (this happens in-game on purpose so don’t worry about getting a bad ending), but Raiden gets back up and ultimately defeats Shinnok by ripping out the amulet. Raiden then enters the jinsei to cleanse it. Before doing so, he notices Liu Kang and Kung Lao has disappeared. He then cleanses the jinsei, but it corrupts him, turning him into dark raiden. It ends with Raiden narrating that the events weren’t supposed to happen, but it is too late to change anything. He says that earthrealm is even more defenseless then it was, and it will constantly be attacked. He then vows to protect earthrealm by using a more offensive approach, by defeating it’s enemies before they strike. The end of my version of Mortal Kombat X.

Wasn't the title for Outworld being Emperor and not Kahn? With this being said, I like these types of ideas, although mine would be that Kotal (not Ko'atal K'etz as this name belongs to his father now) would be the Chief of Outworld with the throne room being overhauled for something Aztec themed with the followers would be Erron Black, D'vorah (in my take she doesn't outright betray Kotal, just double crossed him for Shinnok knowing that she would be scorched alive, and I could also see her refusal to aid the remaining Kytinn from Shao Kahn's extermination progress come back to bite her hard, though some remained hidden), Reptile (he sympathized with him being an obedient servant for the former emperor, and made him a general as an appreciation), Ferra/Torr (not much, but I could make Ferra a teensy bit talkative as Torr remains grunting about) and Erron Black (an outcast of Earthrealm, maybe recruiting him after Shang Tsung gave him a limited form of immortality I think).

Well, here is a sequel of mine to your MK2011 rewrite (basically, a re-do of the structure of MKX using the plot and the existing gaming assets we ended up having with a few tweaks in the story here and there). The amount of voice actors and main campaign playable characters will stay the same and no additional story mode content will be added. The character who's on the left is the one you play as, but that character isn't always at the left of the screen. It goes like this: (Shinnok's invasion starts a few montrhs after the events of MK9. At one point, Kenshi asks Johnny how Raiden knew to recruit him during the Outworld Tournament and Johnny responds that it was because of the visions he had received. He also adds that Raiden saw more allies in these visions and recruited them to fight for Earthrealm. Johnny also name-drops some of those allies, such as Shujinko, Kai and Li-Mei, implying that they are fending off the invasion in other places. Also, it explains how our main vharacters know them when they reappear later in the story.) Kotal blames Earthrealm, specifically Raiden, for Outworld's most recent major problems, the civil war due to all rightful heirs being dead, the theft of the amulet, the riot that was caused because of Kung Jin's actions and the Black Dragon, and calls Earthrealm incompetent and untrustworthy. Ermac responds by asking Kotal to be careful with his approach and by reminding Kotal which realm defeated Shao Kahn, didn't break the Reiko Accords and never attacked the other realm.) (We get the scene Raiden and Bo talk, which is followed not by a flashback of the Shaolin rescue but of Raiden's time with the 2 monks during their lives as we get to see them meeting each other, training and some major events of MK9.) Raiden tries to talk things out, but the Revenants sourround him and taunt him with his failures; their deaths, the trust they put on him, his failure to bring them to their original forms, his proposal to Quan Chi, Liu Kang taunts him about seeing visions and claims that Raiden never saw the future and just turned mad, which ties with him not believing in changing the past in MK11, Smoke curses him for leaving Sub-Zero to his fate, Kitana and Sindel mock Raiden by saying that it was Quan Chi and not him who brought them back together. Also, during the conversation Kitana says that Jade is on a "special mission", but she wishes she could ve here as well, hinting at the stuff we learn about Jade in Jade's MK9 and MK11 endings and Kitana's MKX ending, which coincidentally ties into why she agrees so easily with Kronika's plan. Raiden tries to explain that he is truly sorry for every mistake and wrong decision he took, but it was all with the absolute best intentions for Earthrealm and all the realms in mind and Liu Kang tells him that perhaps he just...didn't...try...hard enough. That he was weak and a coward. And then he finishes it off by asking Raiden if he's got what it takes to put him down a second time.) Raiden QTE vs the Revenants Raiden vs Sindel Raiden vs Kitana Raiden vs Kung Lao Raiden vs Liu Kang (Raiden teleports to the Jinsei Chamber to find Shinnok already in there, powered up and corrupting the Jinsei, with Johnny captured.) Shinnok vs Raiden (The SF and the Shirai Ryu return to Earth as Shinnok has just finished corrupting the Jinsei and the sky turned red. That is visible to the Lin Quei temple as well. The Kombat Kids also arrived there at that time. Kotal and his forces arrive just a little later. The Kids try to make Kotal work with them, but Kotal decides to appease Shinnok, believing it will buy Outworld enough time to prepare its defenses against him. Takeda uses his psuchic powers to temprarily dizzy Kotal and his forces and him and his team get a head start to get in the woods, where Kotal's forces chase them.) Kombat Kids QTE Kung Jin vs Erron Black Cassie Cage vs Ferra/Torr Jacquie Briggs vs Ermac (Ermac is holding back, which could ve presented with his special moves being locked for this fight) (Reptile spits acid in Takeda's face.) Takeda Takahashi vs Reptile Jacquie Briggs QTE against Ermac (Jacquie knocks out Ermac, but notices Takeda is in danger.) Jacquie Briggs vs Reptile (Takeda has received permanent damage and is blind in the one eye. Reptile dares them to finish him off, because he is willing to die for Outworld, which in his words is "the only home he has left" and Kotal being "his one true friend". Jacquie and Takeda tell him that there are other ways to save Outworld and that there is no reason for any realm to suffer the same fate as Zaterra and that Earthrealm can still accept them as allies and friends just like how Syzoth was accepted in Outworld by Kotal and his people. Suddenly, Cassie and Kung Jin show up and the team gets quickly surrounded by Kotal and his forces. Kotal demands Syzoth and Ermac to be released immediately and prepares to order his men to attack the Kids, but the Lin Quei arrives and forces Kotal's forces to retreat.) Sub-Zero vs Kotal Kahn (Alongside the Lin Quei are the Shirai Ryu and the SF fighting as one. Hanzo is leading in the front line, but his guilt for what has happened holds him back, but Takeda tells him that he forgives him and that he will help him become better just like he did with Kenshi. Hanzo regains his courage and teacher battle in the front line together. Kotal's forces surrender and Sub-Zero tells Kotal that he will not compromise his ideals and his allies and he advices him to do the same. Then he congratulates the Kids for being a fantastic team and announces that the days the Lin Quei were isolated from the rest of the world are over. Everyone charges towardd the Jinsei Chamber and battle Shinnok's undead army. The Kombat Kids make it through and encounter the Revenants.) Jacquie and Takeda QTE vs the Revenants (Cassie and Jin encounter Revenant Liu Kang and Revenant Kung Lao.) Kung Lao QTE vs Kung Jin (purely defensive, since Kung Lao is hesitsnt to hurt his cousin) Cassie Cage vs Liu Kang (Cassie tries to get through him, but Liu doesb't change his mind, building up to Cassie writing him off as a lost cause in MK11) Kung Lao vs Kung Jin (Lao accidentally hurts Jin and gets shocked by this, which lets him open for Cassie to wale on him) (Cassie procceeds to carry Jin, but Jin tells her to get quickly to the Jinsei Chamber and not wait for him, but Cassie carries him anyway and runs to the Chamber as fast as she can. Once thet get there, they find Shinnok and D'Vorah having captured Johnny and Raiden.) Kung Jin vs D'Vorah Shinnok vs Cassie Cage (Shinnok blasts away Kung Jin and prepares to do the same to Johnny, but Cassie takes the hit for him and activates her god-fighting powers.) Cassie Cage (with green aura) vs Shinnok (Shinnok, shocked and enraged, powers up himself with the Jinsei and turns to his corrupted form.) Cassie Cage (with green aura) vs Corrupted Shinnok Kung Jin frees Raiden who traps the beaten-up Shinnok inside the amulet. We get a nice book-end with Johnny's and Sonya's relationship. Kotal and hos forces return to Outworld with Sub-Zero informing him in a taunting tone, said tone being inspired by his interractions with Johnny Cage, that Earthrealm is strong and competent and that it is still open for negotiations. He also expresses his joy that the Shirai Ryu and the Lin Quei put aside their past feud and fought as one. Reptile and Ermac think of what the Kids told them and consider that they made mistakes with their approach as advisors to Kotal and Mileena and as decision-makers before and during the civil war and that there were other better ways to approach the conflict of this entire story than those they took. Perhaps they even miss Baraka or someone else from the opposing side. The parents and mentors reunite with the kids and differebt characters meet and greet each orher. As Jax and Jacquie emvrace each other, Ermac, before returning to Outworld, approaches them, apologises to Jax, congratulates Jacquie's skills and even says that he ybderstands the love between a father and his child, unknowingly hinting at King Jerrod's soul inside him. Ge even promises that he and Syzoth will do their best fron now on at keeping Kotal under control. Raiden is severely wounded and gets inside the Jinsei to heal himself and fix the corruption, but while he is in there, what the Revenants, especially Liu Kang, told him became his main focus of thought. Raiden's guilt and sadness alongside the corrupted Jinsei he absorbed unleashed Raiden's anger and frustration over everyone who bettayed him, tried to stop him and refused to help him and thus, when Raiden came out of the Chamber, he was different. Inside and out. The re-write ends pretty much with the same cliffhanger as the game did.)

Damn!!! Thats incredible and spot on. Ive been a mortal kombat junkie since 1992. I hates mkx because of the story. But your version wouldve been beyond anything I could've hoped for. Oh well. In a perfect world.

The4thSnake I saw that. Very good video. Even though I thought your story of batman would've not only been excellent,it would've made more sense. Only problem is I love the comics for injustice.

The Kombat Kids were the virus of MKX and clearly the worst idea of the game. I agree : MKX should have focus mostly on the MK4 era, which had A LOT of potential if retold correctly. It would have been the perfect opportunity to see characters from that era making a comeback, like Kai, Reiko or Jarek. Instead of 2/3 of the MK9 roster coming back, some of them bringing nothing new to the table (Ermac, Reptile, Kung Lao,...) I also agree that MKX should have been the perfect time to give unpopular characters (Kobra, Hsu Hao, Mavado, Jarek, Darrius, Shujinko,...) a second chance. I mean look at what they did to Stryker : it's like the perfect makeover ! I'm positive these characters could finally get a fanbase if redone correctly. Except for having forgotten Jax, your plot is clearly a thousand times better than what we actually got.

I just didn't have anywhere specific to mention Jax. He could be restored with the rest. Maybe retire.

after mentioning how revenants follow our heroes to other realms and help other sides in the wars I just cant help but imagine both raiden's force and evil guys wanting the same side on their team, leaveing the other side 1v3ing
