It’s not entirely genuine, KZbinrs receive free products not out of the kindness of a company’s heart (such a thing doesn’t really exist lol). They get them in the hopes that the KZbinr will feel obligated to give the brand a shoutout and that the product will show up in the background of or be worn in videos. These are subtle forms of advertising. Since this guy is a businessman, he probably knows this, so his compliments are less about gratitude and more about giving the donors what they want.
@mbessio Жыл бұрын
@@protocetid I understand, I'm not that naive. What I am saying I feel he-as a person- is a genuine guy, down to earth. For instance his mate on theo and Harris is full of himself and it's obvious.

I'm right there with you on the Opinel! I live in France, and these things are available everywhere: supermarkets, tobacco shops, garden shops, sporting good stores...and yeah, they run like 10€. They even have rounded-tip knives for kids. The steel keeps an edge for a super long time. The museum is about an hour from my house, and I'm planning to visit it this weekend. That is so cool, that you work in the watch industry! And I say this, because I am totally blind I have no vision whatsoever. I have been blind for the last seven years and I always enjoyed wearing a nice watch but now my issue is they do have watches for the blind, but They are a very, very poor quality. It would be nice if one of the manufactures would try to solve this issue it should be waterproof. It should have a quality leather band and it must talk of course. They do make the talking watch is an analog and digital, so this would be interesting if you could try to tackle this issue. Thank you once again.

Don’t get too “into” knife steel would be my advice. I thought I needed high class knife steel. “Good” knife steel tends to be hard to sharpen and not worth the price or effort. Something you can sharpen easily is better. Edit: Like the Opinel. Or a Victorinox. The latest, greatest knife steel tends to be more brittle, hard to sharpen and doesn’t always have the same corrosion resistance. Don’t get me wrong. I still have some modern knives with flashy steel but it in no way makes the knife more usable or dictates what I have in my pocket (today, a Vicorinox Rambler on my car keys. So small it’s barely there but does most things I need).
@MultiVance123 Жыл бұрын
Knife steel is a huge rabbit hole. There’s the blade material itself, the heat treat on the steel, and then the type of grind on the blade in conjunction with the actual edge angle. When it comes down to it, I completely agree that the flashy steels in a lot of high end modern knives are cool and can definitely boost performance, I have found that ease of maintenance has become the most important aspect of a knife steel for me.

Taylor's pronunciation is almost perfect, you can tell she does know french well it is like 98% there My only tips (for those who REALLY want to nail it 100% for some reasons) is on the "bleu" word: close the sound just a bit more. anglos speakers tend to make a very open sound. If your mouth does the same shape as when pronouncing "blue" then it is probably slightly off. If it helps, imagine you are directing the sound in a direction, and aim for the floor. These closed sound are in my opinion what betray even the most fluent anglophone most of the time. (but don't worry too much about "A" or "O" sounds like in "Chauffe", no matter how you say it, it will probably match an accent somewhere in France) Anyway, again very good pronunciation and I wouldn't mention it if it wasn't on topic!

Switched from Opinel to an Antonini Old Bear, never looked back, just superior where it matter, the lock, ,never even thought this would close on my hand, but Opinel, always, through multiple examples, would work itself loose on even the lightest work. My wallet is a Vulkit, it looks like leather, feels like leather, hell it even smells like leather, but it's thinner, and has 2 quick access slots for cards or folded cash, and all of it has wireless protection for your cash cards. Got a Casio G-Shock too, but one of the ones where the characters are white, while the background is black, as I find that far easier to read, and is easier to read in dark lighting, even without activating the back light. I just have a small set of steel cutlery from IKEA (Also some steel straws and chopsticks), I feel and experience has shown me, that having cutlery that is purpose built is better than trying to make other tools work as cutlery, funnily enough they are the best cutlery I have, even though I got it all from IKEA, apart from kitchen knives, which were Aldi / Lidl, and my steak knives which are Lagioule.

@K.M.V S our (Canada) knife laws aren't really that bad, they just can't be used for self defense, no autos, no balisongs, no gravity knives. The big thing is that CBSA is super weird about importing knives. I had my Chris Reeve Large Inkosi seized because they thought it was a gravity knife. Worked several months for an appeal for that thing because no chance I'm forfeiting a $700 CAD knife.
@IGmeanwell Жыл бұрын
In NYC your pretty limited to what you can carry based on blade size and locking mechanisms. All autos are illegal in NY, you can own them just can’t carry them. In the city though if your caught with any sort of flipper or semi auto mechanism It’s probably going to get confiscated. Up here in the ADK we can have under a 4” blade while carrying as long as it’s not an auto mechanism. I have a civivi KI-V mini to make sure my carry is legal where ever I go, of course we could all just carry a Swiss Army knife. Edit: NY State also does not want you carrying any sort of gravity deploying knife.
