Tip from an Alaskan: On the next charter when you catch a halibut, try slicing out the gills, put a deep slice into top of the tail - white side, and hang your fish for an hour or two off the side of the boat head down. Don't gut the fish until after it bleeds out. You'll end up with translucent flesh that you can use for sushi, halibut chunks you can drop in bowling water and pull out when they start to float. Then, dips the chunks butter. Better than lobster IMHO! I was an offshore foreman during the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill working in Nuka Bay - it's close to being the half-way point between Seward and Homer - we got bored one day and decided to lay out 1/4 of long line to catch halibut. The boat I was on was a 76' seiner that was converted into a mobile boat cleaning operation for ships before they could go to port. We turned that ship into a sailboat with all the halibuts we hag hanging off the crane. Really enjoy your videos!

Nina and Tilly's Greatest Hits. Brilliant! Reminds me of when a housemate went salmon fishing in Alaska and called to tell me to make room in the freezer and be ready for an overnight package. The package was 60+ pounds of fresh caught, flash frozen Alaska salmon. 🤣 My buddy didn't cook and I found many different ways to prepare salmon: grilled, broiled, pan seared, salmon pie, salmon en papillote, etc, etc 🙃

My very first build with Habitat for Humanity was in Anchorage Alaska. On weekends when we were not building we travelled to Seward and Homer. We, too, were in a glacier park and it was then that I realized first hand what global warming actually looked like --- just as in this video -- chunks of glacier ice plunging into the water with completely bare peaks behind. It registered. After the fabulous Alaska build it turned out that I was able to built on every habitable continent and Africa twice so I have seen a lot and have a very different global perspective than when I started out. Truly every build was the opportunity of a lifetime. Love these videos, Nina -- am new to them and have subscribed ! Cheers!

And this is why you won the 2022 ACREW award for best social media yachtie!!!! The drone footage in the 2nd half of the video was great (the second time ;) ). In addition to Tilly, I also miss 2nd Engineer Mark he was funny! I wish you could've done more content with your stews, they seemed like a nice and fun bunch. Finally, I owe this video to starting to eat Halibut at home, but every so often! IT is expensive!! Love this Nina, thanks for the editing and reposting!!

Aw! Tis reminded me of when I would go deep sea fishing out of Southern California. The trip organizer was best friends with a local restaurant owner who was also into fishing. As the boat's crew would carve up what we caught from the trip, the restaurant owner would announce to the rest of us that he would exchange any unwanted fish for vouchers to his restaurant. Thanks for the memories!
