I showed this video to several people who don't care about roses and they loved it. My husband said, "I guess it doesn't matter if you're interested in the topic or what it is, watching someone who is truly passionate about something is infectious and entertaining to watch".

Hello Ben, thank you for your great video. We have a natural garden with many David Austin Roses. They are amazing. Last year we got new neighbours on the west side of the garden. So I had to move the fence and all plants. 3 month hard work for us…but this year we can enjoy all of our old plants and 7 of your recommended roses. Country parson is my favorite, best performance in the first year and an amazing scent. Emma Hamilton and Ben Austin have been flowering more than the last years. Best regards Karina

My climate in the US is different but I enjoyed the video very much. Interestingly, Scepter d'Isle is my very, very favorite David Austin and the blooms are the visual equivalent of angels singing. It does not ball for me at all but Happy Child balls terribly here. Lady Emma Hamilton, despite the fabulous color, was my weakest performer and it died this year. I hardly ever kill roses but it was a weakling here. I have several others but Scepter d'Isle is my favorite and it isn't close!

That makes me very happy I’m Pleased that you are noticing the true colour form and habit of the roses that I’m talking about it is exactly the reason why I launched my series of reviews originally meant for Instagram, as a gardener I get very annoyed by the post production enhancement of photographs much as I love David Austin they are also guilty of this in their magazines and catalogues and even the videos they post online often they are so heavily filtered I can’t tell the difference between particular rose blooms especially as everybody sees colour slightly differently I never filter enhance or edit any of my videos everything is filmed in one take first time hopefully giving you a very true representation of my thoughts feelings and impressions

If you feel like having another go with roses, do consider, taking a look at my best for drought and heat collection, the roses that have been doing well with our new blisteringly hot summers temperatures reaching around 33 to 35° here in the UK, which may not be incredibly hot as far as you are concerned, but it’s certainly very abnormal here

@Froyofreeze2 жыл бұрын
@@Strongerthandirt8695 My Tess grew very well with fewer blossoms and climbed the structure. Had to cut them down a little to accommodate Christmas lights. Quiet happy with it! Really interesting to hear your comments Ben and to see the flowers in each case. I love David Austin roses. I have Scepter'd Isle, Princess Alexandra of Kent and Munstead Wood together in a large raised bed; Eustacia Vye and The Mayflower both new this year and in pots; the rambler Lady of the Lake, the Pilgrim, Teasing Georgia and Claire Austin growing alongside a fence; 5 Kew Gardens as a small hedge out front (no thorns to snag passersby!) and 2 others in the back garden one is a small pink climber and the other a large deep red shrub rose whose names I've sadly forgotten! Oh and Emily Brontë how could I forget her?! But a real favourite of mine is Wild Edric - have you come across him? He's a bit like a rugosa rose with cerise flowers that open fully with a really strong scent. He's incredibly robust and free flowering but he is large and packs some pretty vicious thorns so don't put him somewhere where you're going to have to squeeze past him because he will bite! I do love him inspite of that. He's usually first to flower and goes on for months. I've pretty much run out of space now, hence the 2 roses in pots, but your videos are very tempting - maybe I can persuade my husband to reduce the size of his shed!

@Ben Hamilton Anderson that's really hard to choose. I think I will go with tradescant because it's one of a kind. The darkest david austin rose with an amazing fragrance. Hello Ben , I live in zone 9b in Central-West Florida in the US. After seeing your video, I am adding Country Parson to my garden! I was looking to ad Wm. Shakespeare 2000 to my garden, but I cant find it anywhere....? Whats the deal? Has Munstead Wood replaced it because it is a more stable hybrid? My reasons for choosing Shakespeare were because I encountered it once many years ago in a nursery and I thought once I was ready for it, I would include it in my garden.... I loved the immense fragrance, the color, and the large blooms which I saw at the time. Also When you fertilize I am using alternate with some Alfalfa Pellets, Cow Manure and some chemical fertilizer during the Summer here because it is simply too hot 🔥🔥🔥 to work outside.

I had five summer songs the bloom is a beautiful dark apricot light orange the fragrance is stunning but it is blighted by black spot mould and leaf drop it was incredibly sensitive to heat and in the end unfortunately it didn’t make the cut when we moved from our previous house for years ago I brought over 640 plants with us for our new garden Summersong and Caroline night along with Winchester Cathedral we all left behind

Thank you so much for this. Seeing them in the bottles next to you helps to judge the sizes. I just planted a Gentle Hermione in my garden and the blooms are stunning. I highly recommend. The blooms are enormous and the scent is very strong. I think it might droop so I am going to prop her up with some canes. But I can't get enough. I love David Austen roses. I really want this years roses - Elizabeth and Bring Me Sunshine. Particularly the last one. I can't wait to get my hands on one.
