Just scored the vintage vinyl record of this album in mint condition at good will for $1. Took a chance, cause I never heard it before. My initial response, was nothing short of blown away. Absolutely love it. The composition, the diversity, not to mention the emotion Buchanan translates into his guitar. I am a true lover of all genres of music. Rock, jazz, funk, soul, hip hop & more. But this! This is something special from the beginning of side A to the end of side B. Plus I absolutely love the fact that this is mostly an instrumental album. I know it's listed as rock/blues. But I'd feel safer defining it as a fusion of rock, jazz, blues & soul. Not to say these other elements are in every track, but they certainly find themselves sporadically appearing in their appropriate places. Overall, though, it IS mostly blues/rock heavy. I also love that he is not afraid to work the synth/Moog sounds in. Would've loved to hear what he might've done on this album if he had an orchestra at his disposal. Still, it's nothing short of brilliant. It's very hard to believe this was a commercial failure in 1978. Probably because the 60's & 70's audiences were so saturated in good music coming from every direction, that maybe thats why they probably turned their nose up at this record. Well, thank you, I'll take this record for $1 all day. This is a masterpiece.

I met Roy 2 xs both after 2 s seperate shows. Really was kind. He took a smiley picture with me ..father and brother. He really is in his own class. What I adore about his music ...his guitar playing. Is his flawless skill. His command ...his control...his focus and most of all. He just lets the music do the talking. His. Musical voice his soul just pours out of him ...R.I.P. Roy.....You made a lot of people happy. Every talent should share their God Given gift ANF you did exactly that.

@@LegendLength your vision of the world ain't wrong. There is no such thing as free will, therefore it is a movie. But more than that: according to the general theory of relativity time is not subjective. It is objective. The "feeling" of time is subjective". Therefore you can infer that all moments in time are happening at the same "time". There is not "past" and "future", there is only the "subjective present" (and when you're experiencing it, all moments possible in the spacetime continuum are happening all at once). So it's not a "roll of film", it's a film that's going on until eternity, and from a certain perspective, you could witness reality "as a roll of film".

Gerry Quigley: Dark Side of the Moon release date: 1973, Wish You Were Hear release date: 1975, Animals release date: 1977, Roy Buchanan's You're Not Alone release date, 1978. Sounds more like Roy was listening to Gilmour and Floyd and was the influence for this album rather than Gilmour being influenced by Roy. I do agree with you on the "many other players would not be..." comment. That being said, Roy Buchanan's guitar on this is phenomenal. Roy Buchanan was one of the greats, no doubt. Gary Moore is one guy who was heavily influenced by Buchanan's ripping, emotional, untamed, and sometimes reckless guitar style. And there are many others.....

@@roberttwo-hatchett9102 Musically quite similar. I hear Shine on You Crazy Diamond in the synth too. Roy was definitely a different breed than British prog rock, but this was the popular style of rock in the mid 70s. Roy was a great blues player, but lots of rock n roll licks too. He covered Turn to Stone and Down By The River, Green Onions, and others. David Gilmore wasn't exactly a slouch with the axe, nor was Syd Barrett.

Greetings as well. Catholic is a word meaning "everywhere" or universal. It was used by a Roman Emperor (that is a cult!) to describe the rise of Christianity in Roman Empire. If you were Polish, you would understand this statement in context of another cult, Communism. Hence the statements stands as does the music.

Hence why David Gilmour listens to Roy Buchanan. This is tune was cut in 1978, so I'm sure they've already cross pollinated quite a bit. Buchanan and Gilmour are both masters of the frets :)

JJ Cale's Durango is a masterpiece! It takes me to another place & time. Comforts me & gives me peace & solace. It's other wordly and reminiscent of simpler times. His best. ☮️💟🎵💫
