Just used cleaning solvent! Any thing that can dissolve the dirt will do! Kerosene, Gasoline, etc

Yeah, these fuel pumps are totally submerged in the fuel. Arcing at the brushes do not cause fire as liquid fuel does not combust in the absence of oxygen.
