I LOVE listening to Earl in an interview... especially when he talks about pool the game (vs the state of pool as a sport) and when he talks about his life experiences as a pool player. Great guy with a good heart and a lot of love for the game. The only thing I really don't like is when he is so hard on himself that he makes his future strokes in a self-destructive way. I always root for Earl and it's nothing personal against whoever his opponent might be in any given match.

Shane took Earls advice and eventually started playing with a longer cue (extension) and went to win major tournaments.

I don't know why more people don't try what the pros have and do. Every time I try something new at a casual tournament the guys give me a look like I'm trying to shoot with the butt end of the cue.

@@Synrgiii because people are sheep and do what others do just because they do, without the knowledge of why. I always used a glove because my hand sweats, simple. I used to play with a permanent extension on the same cue shane has, but now I play without it. Was hard to get shots in a tight bar as well with a javelin

Regarding the audio: Normally we run wired lavs so its easier to get good sound. I have two wireless lav sets and tested them before the podcast. I put one on Earl and one on the wireless handheld. The one on Earl suddenly decided to develop a nasty hiss 5 minutes before we went live so I had to ditch it. Shit happens in live productions. If any audio engineers out there want to work for tshirts and PPV's I am all ears.

56:00 , I believe Earl is spot on here. I'm a big guy, and I keep getting longer and longer cues...it makes you more accurate imo. Like he says it levels out your swing. If your a snowboarder, you want a long board for cruising..a small board is great for spins..but terrible for all-mountain(stability!). Same for surfing, shooting guns, etc. ~Think about it~

If you don't like Earl, then you just don't understand him. Think about where his game USED to be, and how long he has watched brand new players to the game come in and rise to the top, and very few have come close to achieving what he has. Earl is one of the greatest 9 ball players of all time, and that is far more than just my opinion.

yeah I saw it, and he got everyone talking. EVERYONE. fool or not, and love him or hate him, people watch him. I know him personally, and hes a really good guy, he gets frustrated with pool bc it doesnt get the respect it deserves, and rightfully so. Cue sports are complex and difficult, more than most sports, and if you reach the top and dont get recognized you would be pissed off too. Do I agree with some things he says and does, no, but I understand him. top players admire this guy

When a pool room fills up with players for a tournament, each player is exhaling warm humid air.Also when players get nervous playing under pressure, they perspire.The air conditioners can only remove so much of that humidity. They should put out a few large buckets of Damp-Rid to remove the excess humidity so over-running the air conditioners won't make the conditions cold and damp.

I agree with mark that the BCA has nearly destroyed pool in the U.S. It's not nearly as big a deal as it is in other countries. That's why things are the way that Earl says, "there's nothing to play for". I know several pro's that through in the towel because the money dried up so bad after the 90's. I also agree with Shane, we need more celebrity power in the sport. It would do a lot for promoting the game.

Ya gotta love Earl, I could listen to him all day. Just for the record, 408 balls in 2 1/2 hours is not 6 seconds per shot, it's more like 22 seconds per shot. Regardless, 408 is an extremely impressive run, especially for a 9 Ball player that doesn't specialize in Straight Pool.

This is an excellent are rare glimpse at what is so great about Earl and why he's right about expecting to be invited to major events. The sound though is terrible and means you miss loads of what is said. Suprisingly unprofessional from TAR, they really need someone who knows what they're doing with this sort of stuff as it's a major let down. Great video though and I wish you all the best with this and future events.

@mescellaneous
@mescellaneous 5 жыл бұрын
he's not putting bottom, his stroke just ends on the table. and i think he does this to maximize the left spin, since he was performing an extreme english shot. i think because this was not super follow shot, he doesn't end high. it's a follow with extreme left, and you squeeze the most english by trying to extend the stroke as long as you can to the left, therefore ending low or towards the edge of the cue ball, if that makes any sense. you see the cue ball hit between the second and third diamond, so it can't be draw.

I also believe that Earl is right about how slow some people play. It's just rediculouse. I love a 30-45 second clock with one extension. I think it's crazy that someone will stare at the same shot for ten minutes and wonder why people don't want to watch. O also believe that someone else believe that if the BCA doesn't want to do it's part in promoting the game properly here, than they should step aside as the main sanctioning body and let the players form thier own federation.

The most watched ESPN pool match of all time features Earl, hes the most talented American pool player since Mosconi, he plays fast and moves the cue ball like an art form. If more pool players were like him pool would be in a better state. just bc hes a little animated you think hes hurting the game, stop it you ignoramus.
