Agreed. Video games arent a problem if parents do their jobs and make them realise its a game and not to take any of it seriously (gta and crazy taxi) . Many kids get unhinged because they cannot control their emotions yet when frustrated or angry from hard games or trolls. Many also are just spoiled. Que the kid who wanted a pc but got a ps5 for christmas lol. The amount of kids exposed to streamers and games who make jokes that they then copy and place out of context is stunning. Look at the among us and fortnight phase. It is only cringe due to the excessive use of fortnight dances and among us jokes. It doesnt actually cause the issues. If it wasnt the video games it would be something else like beyblades or legos. A young kid will get upset if you take away their teddy bear. Its not that different you just let them cry until they get over it and earn it back. Having a child is hard work these parents need to get over it and accept their responsability. If a kid is able to buy an adult game on their console without adult supervision thats on the parents. They should be there when they buy the games giving them access to the money lol. Im pretty sure many children would do some bad things with unlimited access to their parents credit cards.

The Pictochat scare is probably my favorite one because of the absurdity of the situation. So let's go with their example. You're a kid in the back of the car with a DS. Are you going on Pictochat and coincidentally finding some predator within the DS's wireless communication range (reminder that you're in a car that will be spending most of the time moving) that is also using a DS and has Pictochat open to talk to you without your parent's knowledge? No, you're playing Mario & Luigi Partners in Time trying to defeat the final boss as your mother tries to get you out of the car to go to school because you're so close to the end and your child brain thinks you'll definitely have enough time to beat two bosses, one of which has two phases, back-to-back and watch the final cutscene in the 15 minutes it takes to get to school.
@117Ender Жыл бұрын
while unrealistic, the steelman postion, is someone could get a 3ds and slowly drive around neighborhoods and use picochat to get kids to either share security info so someone robs the home while ppl are away, or worse. is it doable yes, will kids willingly give out such info? idk maybe actman admitted to wanting to meet a stranger from online as a kid, and the solution to that is to be a good parent.

Dude, those older news reports from nes and snes days are pure gold, I laughed my ass off everytime they would refer consoles as regular toys 🤣
@Nin10Guy Жыл бұрын
Gaming back in those days was perceived as a kids only thing and consoles were typically marketed under the Toy category. Even companies like Sega would hire people like Tom Kalinske to become CEO of Sega of America due to his successful career with marketing G.I. Joe and Barbie dolls while working at Mattel.
@NegativeGamer418 Жыл бұрын

Therapeutic and cathartic release. I swear some days after dealing with stupid people all day the only thing keeping me from going up into a bell tower is the ability to fire up some doom eternal and kill me some demons, or some other equally satisfying gaming experience.

When my computer was taken away as a kid, I would find where they stashed it and plug it in while they were gone. They found out, and took cords with them to work. So I bought copies of the power cords, hdmi, etc. They eventually found that out, took the whole computer to work. So I used safe mode on the family computer to bypass their account passwords. My parents definitely wanted me to stop and they couldn't

@Charlie Webb I did get punished, my room was damn empty by the end of it. Only my bed, even my dresser was taken so I couldn't hide anything in it and I wasn't allowed to go to my friends and was forced to come straight home. I still did it. The punishment changed nothing about what I did. I hid my spare cords in the attic, which the door to it was in my room, and I hid it under a beam in the attic which was impossible to see.
