Valve is a company of two extremes. They are both the 'Good Guys' and the 'Greedy Corpos.' I both respect and admire Valve in the past, but I find their current business practices despicable. Despite all the Anti-Consumer things Valve has done, Half Life: Alyx is a great sign, because Valve actively made a game they knew wouldn't make shit loads of money. It was the first game made with passion as the focus instead of making shit loads of money. So for that, I think Valve is on the right track.

Tell what you want on their gaming development schedules and “anti-consumer” [fucking better than the other platforms by longshots] practices; Valve has and will continue to throw millions and work hard in R&D to push gaming to new extremes and accessibility, if it’s anything Valve loves, it’s community driven accessibility and supporting such ventures of modding, and Linux is open-source, literally the core concept of easily modified OS is something valve shares with games and no wonder they support it. They have faults but they aren’t a Bethesda or EA, theyre focused on technology than games, evident by the fact they are working with multiple companies in VR and even fucking BIC’s (Brain-Interfacing Computers) to advance such technologies to its best potential, and Alyx proved that by starting the push into VR AAA games.

@@linkkraft3358 That clip is out of context. Prior to the reveal, Day9 said the following: kzbin.info/www/bejne/baqcdnptlKdsmLs#t=8h33m "This is not an extra game mode. This is not even a game like CSGO, that's based on Counter-Strike, or Dota 2, that's based on Dota 1, this is a game that's an entirely new beast unto its own." To be fair, these remarks, while misleading, aren't really wrong. Despite its shared setting, Artifact's core gameplay is nothing at all like Dota 2's, and deserves to be seen as its own IP. But still, what Day9 said set the expectation of a completely new game with no ties to any previous Valve titles. The groaning isn't because of the reveal itself, but the false expectations set by Day9's remarks.

It's never happening, friend. It's been over 15 years of waiting. Most of the original devs, artists and writers who worked on HL2 and Episodes 1+2 are long gone. Not only that, there are 3 generations of consoles and young gamers who never experienced a Valve game being released. And no I don't count HL: Alyx, because the entire thing is a tech demo gimmick majority of gamers will never play. All it proved was Valve games are dead, and modern gamers don't care about a sequel to a 20 year old franchise, that they know the developer doesn't care about finishing, or respect their fans enough to communicate with.
