Now that's cool. I loved how he's like "Nah, don't wanna deal with politics, I just want the art to be appreciated". It'll definitely make Brisbane a more arty place to be!

Yes, at one stage he said he just wanted to make work that made people smile (couldn't find that part when I was putting this together).

I'd always wondered about those blue things around the city. Do you know how many there are around?
@BrisbaneChannel

He wasn't sure himself. He said around 40 or 50, or maybe 60. I guess it's hard because he isn't always sure if they've been taken down or are still up.

This is awesome, had no idea one guy was behind these but I suppose it makes sense! More content like this about Brisbane would be awesome.

Yep, I've recently decided to try to focus on the Brisbane-related stuff more, as it seems to be more popular than the other content here.

@@BrisbaneChannel That's the sort of content I was hoping for when I subscribed back in your first video. For what it's worth here's some unsolicited interview ideas: small business owners around brisbane, specifically in the realm of arts (e.g. anyone in Winn Lane, plenty of cool places in West End - i'm sure Aria would do some talking about Fish Lane), Brisbane Gin seem cool, places like death and taxes, or anyone from howard smith wharves. There's also a tonne of new developments coming down the pipe for Brisbane and I'm sure the teams behind any of them would love an opportunity to get behind a camera to talk about them. On the theme of street art, coverage of the brisbane street art festival would be awesome. There's tonnes of festivals around Sunnybank celebrating different cultures of Asia. I really enjoyed the Taiwanese festival last year. There's also a bunch of businesses innovating here in the face of Coronavirus, so hearing about how Brisbane adapter to that would be great too.

So is it about the lack of permission or just the quality that excludes it from art to you? You're saying no graffiti can be called art? As you can't read the tone I ask this in, let me clarify that I'm not being argumentative, just curious about how different people define art.

BNE lens I didn’t say all graffiti isn’t art. But when it’s done on our buildings and not in a gallery it’s messy because not everyone appreciates it. Look at some of the areas where graffiti is out of control. Mainly in America. It’s art for the graffiti artist but it’s pollution for the majority of the citizens. By all means. Use a gallery or some controlled place to express graffiti. But not our cities.

It's graffiti regardless of whether it's art. Tagging or putting stuff in public is a mean move to the community and called graffiti even if it's left up. Banksy's stuff is graffiti. But some people like some graffiti. I personally don't like graffiti, but I think if they were put in with authorisation (and not graffiti) then the designs are nice.
