Very cool, I went for a walk through here a couple days ago and thought it was pretty nice, especially since the area otherwise is boring concrete. Nice to know more context :)

I had thought Brisbane was completely anti-graffiti, but it seems they're more open to it than I originally gave them credit for. Apparently the Lord Mayor is quite supportive of these legal street art walls. Definitely looks more interesting than bare concrete, and gives the community something to do that can actually lead to a pretty good career if you're good at it!

Thank you for the deep dive Adam. We just moved to Australia and I walk past this street art wall everyday on my way to work. Now I understand the story behind it. Kudos mate!

Cheers! But this wasn't the "deep dive", this was just scratching the surface. The deep dive will be later in the year...

Some random art, that'll show those war hungry politicians...

I think this kind of activity is more about shifting people's outlooks at a grassroots level, on focusing thoughts on things that are positive, rather than actually impacting world politics directly. It's a nice gesture of people within a particular community saying "let's come together and celebrate the good, rather than focusing on the negative". Sure, that's not going to stop countries invading other countries and such things, but if everyone did what they could within their own circles to focus on the positive, to be more tolerant, to be more humane, then surely the world would be a better place than if we didn't. Doesn't mean people consumed by ambition or blind zealous ideologies won't continue to carry out evil acts. There will always be wars as long as humans are on the planet, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't strive to make the part of the world that we have power to affect as good a place as we can. That's what I think this event was about.

7:59 damn, you really know some spots right? I wonder if you live locally or were told of this location, thats a small hidden gem spot that has been claimed by famous local writers for generations now. A lot of older heads in the area know the exact spot im curious if you managed to stumble across it or were told by local writers its there?
@BrisbaneChannel6 ай бұрын
Haha, I live across the road from that one, and walk by it many times each week when I go to buy milk or veges.

@@BrisbaneChannel Gotcha! I was curious how you found that. culture runs deep in these parts if you know. Our area produced a lot of great writers, hip hop & b dancers in its days. One of my favorite spots is in bradman st heading to acacia ridge, theres a train line you pass over & a gymnastics. if you actually go look at all those back walls & the old train line running down, you will find some pieces dating into the late 80s.

So he wants to leave the planet in a better place, yet is fine to spray unfiltered toxic elements into the air. That is a special kind of logic.
@BrisbaneChannel7 ай бұрын
I don't have scientific data to back it up, but I suspect a ten-minute drive in a petrol-powered car would have considerably greater impact on levels of toxic fumes in the environment than creating a mural using spray paint. If it was only people who had zero negative impact on the environment who could dream of bringing more positivity into the world or in some ways making it a better place, I suspect it would be very difficult to find such a person.

@@BrisbaneChannel Cars / bikes have catalytic converters, a spray can does not. Also, I gather these people have used cars, / bikes to travel to then spray toxic elements into the air and close to a water way. Unfiltered Spray can paint produces carcinogens. But hey, lets be positive that more people will get cancer and the environment had more crap pumped into because some dude has what appears to be a delusional idea, possibly induced from all the toxic fumes he was been inhaling.
