Bro if you given that 4 years to improve your skills trust me you would been successful in your life. Upsc is good but it doesn't make sense to go behind that when you know only 1000 seats for 10 lakh student. There is a chance you might get selected for sure but what if u don't. It's not about salary, perks or something else. Yes power can be a factor but while preparing there's just a dream like any other that one is chasing and the emotion is so hard that it's so amazing one can't even tell. So without knowing or experiencing just don't say "UPSC me kya h jo kahi aur nhi" I can firmly say "jo kahi aur nhi voh UPSC me hai"

And the best, or weird thing is that he claimed that he took no money from parents after 1st year. Ek reality mai bata du, jab hum private job karte hai to hume government job achhe lagte hai aur jab government karte hai to lagta hai private achha hai, aur jab koyi government job ki taiyari karne wala exam na crack kar paye to wo government jobs ki burayi karte firta hai aur youtube par reality videos dekhta hai 😂. Aur jo log ye keh rahe hai ki skills par focus karo to unko mai bata du konsi skill par focus kare jab koyi skill ho to na. Mann lo agar koyi skill hai bhi to india ki population itni hai ki tum kho jaoge . Kon si skill dikhaoge logo ko singing, dancing, painting etc ye sab ek din tumhari hobby banke reh jayengi ek din jab competition karoge to. Even my father was expecting me to do upsc.. I straight away said No!! And gave him explanation that why I am not interested in government job.. ( I want a stable job in the same city where my husband works and I want stable city for my future kids..) he gave me examples of how girls from different states coming to Pune for job and leaving kids with in-laws!! I again said- May be those girls are strong enough to do so.. I want my kids to be with me .. So basically parents to force karenge.. we need to take stand for ourselves.. can blame parents for forcing us

Social media is also a major contributing factor to this craze. Lots of pages post reels and post showing just the positive and the powerful side of the job but they hide the reality which includes the type of work, pressure and work life balance. This results in false motivation of the students and they fall prey to this. Even in the defence job the students go for the SSB but they never know why they want to do that and why they want to be there all they know is they will have the power and a status, which I think is wrong cuz in the long run this leads to lot of problems like degrading the work environment and causing issues to their personal life and people around them. So it's better to know about the reality and then decide about the things than just getting motivation from these false reels and going for something.

I completed my graduation in 2019 but I have been preparing for government exam (ssc) from 2016 . From 2017-2021 I can't clear this exams while I were not average student my teachers always praise me bcoz I were intelligent student. But at last oct 2021 I left this exam. Then I try for BPSC. Bcoz I am from bihar. But this year I couldn't clear my prelims. This is my 1st attempt. I lost so much time during govt exams, I can't control my emotions. I don't like private job. Bcoz I don't have any skills no typing skills , I can't speak English fluently But I done computer courses in 2017 . But I think I have nothing for survive & a better life. I'm broken. I think I try to speak fluent in Eng & try to achieve skills in any field. I did private job in a company of Gujarat but I didn't like salary which is only 12k bcoz I have no skills only graduation degree. Yes 10 lakh do apply, actual candidates who sit for the exam are roughly 5 lakh. Now let’s cut to the chase 80 percent of the crowd is making a fool out of themselves and everyone around that they’re preparing but involuntarily are just spending the few years of their lives in this cycle. The actual competition or the serious competitors are cut down to less than a lakh people. Anywhere competitive exam would actually have that much serious competition. You have to play your cards right because the exam itself is a tedious process. The patient and mature candidates do clear it. It’s basically the idea or the dream they’re chasing, although the profile is decent only and anyone can thrive elsewhere yet people tend to be attracted to be a part of the permanent executive. For some sections it is the only way out due to their background and they want to turn their lives around. The numbers shouldn’t be scary due to the immense population of our country, anywhere there would be numerous candidates over a handful seats. Right after our high school we are supposed to chase either NEET and JEE where the competition is so cutthroat for our tender ages. UPSC is an exam for the mature and needs a conscious decision, tremendous dedication and patience to get through. Plus you have to be privileged or have some sort of support to survive the process. Otherwise it gets nasty and leads to problems as listed in your case. But that’s gonna be the case in any competition you pick up. JEE, NEET, CA, CAT and specially government jobs examinations there shall be winners and there shall be the ones who don’t make through. None of it would mean that people would stop sitting for these exams. As long as this idea of success exists people would dream. The exam is not a scam, it is one of the most well thought testing process but the selling of the dreams and capitalisation on people’s hope can be called so. Coaching industry would continue to cash on the toppers to attract the 90 percent crowd who won’t make it through. And they would continue to invest on the few outliers who have the slightest chance of topping the exam. That’s how the business runs. It’s the people who in their mid 20s should make a choice and measure their strength if they are resilient enough to withstand the process. They can either figure out to either break the cycle and do something they deem exceptional or join the rat race of corporate jobs like the average normal everyday guy, then getting married having a family and the pressure that comes with it. It’s a sweet dilemma!

Official upsc also have very much concern about it and our supreme court committee also gave recommendations for reduce the year cycle of exam. They recommended it should be not more than 6 month from prelims to interview. According to them lot of youth's wasted their important year in this exam. Not only this, they also noticed all coaching institute for their advertisement of toppers. Even last week upsc ban toppers for coaching promotion. According to them , it is romanticism of upsc they not want a guy who sacrificed everything for this exam who has nothing to do in life instead giving of this exam.They just wanted a sensible good candidate no matter from where he/she/etc come from. In interview with lallantop old upsc chairman said that they don't want a guy to go to any institute for upsc that's why they picking 22 years old young candidates because they don't want romanticism of it which is allready happening by institute and even by selected candidates who just think that they become celebrity. It is fault of combined efforts of all not only upsc. Including educational KZbin channel who don't understand the real meaning of it and just keeping posted their rubbish videos instead of this they need to think understand about upsc. It is not like that now days people started representing it
