I think the present lineup is capable of matching that lineup.. Already gotten some accolades that the RIP lineup didn’t like back to back number 3 albums in the US.. And what’s wild is I generally believe they can top that achievement as well.

@@jasonlmeadows Have Megadeth gotten back to back number 3 albums with their latest 2 albums? Yes.. Did the RIP lineup ever achieve that? No.. That lineup got number 2 and number 4.. Just one top 3 album Countdown.. This lineup has Dystopia and TSTDATD.. And could well top both of them with the next.. Making this lineup the most consistently successful. Now you can like RIP and Countdown more.. But there is no denying what this lineup has achieved already and that it surpasses the charting successes of the past.. Megadeth never got a number 1 album during the RIP lineup anywhere in the world.. A crime against music.. But this lineup has.. They finally got number 1 in a few European countries and their highest ever charting in the UK as well.. Also number 3. Megadeth are on top of the world right now with still further to climb.. That are definitely one of the biggest metal bands today.. And that’s though a lot of hard work and success.. They weren’t in this spot say.. 15 years ago with United Abominations and Endgame.

Quick note for those not familiar: This is a two song medley, separated by the cool "middle eastern" guitar break. The first half relates to an experience the band had in Ireland where Dave ran his mouth about the "Troubles", and nearly got them beaten. It's a mea culpa of sorts. The second part referres to the Punisher comic series from the perspective of the protagonist.
@asdfqwer1234zxcv Жыл бұрын
The second part of the song "...The Punishment Due" is the story of the comic-book character Frank Castle-aka-The Punisher. Some details from the comic book are in the verses "They killed my wife and my baby, with hopes to enslave me" and "Paid by the Alliance to slay all the Giants"

I can still remember the day "Rust in Peace" was released I put this record on after picking it up from the local record store on my way home after school. I remember it as clearly as the first time I heard AC?DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and most importantly Slayer! This song was very important for the progression of not just Megadeth but Heavy Metal music in general. I still get goosebumps when I listen to this song even after all these years. I'm glad other people still get that same feeling.
@shammerhead666 Жыл бұрын
No doubt, the timing of it was insane, after a long wait for something new to drop. Metallica was on hiatus, it had been a minute since megadeth or anyone put out a banger. When this hit my jaw was on the floor. I'll never forget that time. This album was a death blow to anyone else at the time. As heavy and as well produced at the same time as you could get at that time.

Megadeth know how to cram about 30 minutes of music into 5 minutes of song. Awesome track. The apparent urban legend story about their shirts off is that they filmed in an airplane hanger and it was about 40 degrees celsius outside on the day(thats about 100F). Any way that riff when it kicks in the middle section of the song still rocks as does the whole song. Great video as always!!!!

I'll always love this song. Not only is this a God-tier riff/intro, but it's simply magnificent. Furthermore, I remember when I was in high school (2002), there was this girl who would talk to me here and there and she was one of the hottest girls in the school, but she wasn't one of those prissy stuck up types, she was actually really cool, and I was sort of into the goth thing at the time, but nothing extreme, just lots of black lol anyway, one day she asks me what I'm listening to, as my headphones are on, and I hand it to her to sample (I restart Holy Wars for her) and her response was "you have _awesome_ taste in music." 20 years later, that makes me beam.

Megadeth's music has given me goosebumps and chills since i was a teen in the 1990's, the lyrics aside, which pretty much nobody paid attention to for many years until the internet became a thing, and we could google what they were saying, the tempos, the licks, the and acrobatics of what they did with electric guitars was definitely next level for the era. I heard her comment about the song referring to the middle east, that's what I took from the song also for many years, but according to Dave Mustaine the song was written about the "troubles" in northern Ireland, which in my opinion doesn't fit the imagery of the video which is very much about the wars in the middle east.
