In my personal opinion Rust in Peace is the best Trash Metal album of all time so I agree . Some say Master of Puppets which is actually the album I grew up listening to. The difference between the two albums is that as the years go by Rust in Peace and also Peace Sells albums are aging well and when songs like The Conjuring, 5 Magiks, Holy Wars, Good Morning Black Friday, Hangar 18, or Tornado of Souls is played I still get goose bumps and I’m amazed at the absolute mastery of the guitar work and bass lines and drums on these songs. Chris Polland was a jazz guitarist who was taught to play Metal by Dave Mustaine. Dave also thought James Hetfield how to play his metal riffs and the Spider Cord technique on guitar playing. That is why early metalica sounds like Megadeth but since metalica has the worlds largest fan base they always say Megadeth stole metalicas riffs and sound which is actually the other way around. Either way we have 2 great bands with similar sound.

The idea for holy wars and what it's about actually has to do with the fight in Ireland between Catholics and Protestants. Look at my comment I posted, the timing of the release and Gulf War tied the two together forever. Now Mustain clearly expanded beyond just what he saw in Ireland and the Middle East had been fighting a holy war during the 80's already so it all does tie together in the end. Thanks everyone

This song came out just weeks after Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in August of 1990 and began playing playing on MTV just days after Hussein called on all Arab and Muslim people to join him in a Holy War against the American Crusaders. Although the song obviously wasn't written about the Persain Gulf War it became a current event metal hit. I remember Dave Mustain telling Howard Stern who thought the timing worked out great for them that he was kinda pissed Saddam stole his song title for his little Sand Box War. Classic Dave Mustain. Since you like Megadeth I'll give you guy's a bit of info, Mustain picked the bands name after reading an article on Nuclear War. The article explained that Mutually Assured Destruction is what prevented Nuclear war but if it happened the casualties would be so massive it referred to as Megadeath. He liked the name, took out the letter [A] in death and the rest is history. Thanks Asia and BJ. Hope you enjoyed my comment

@@5burowz I can't say forsure the real reason Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990 but it's Impossible it had anything to do with Euro's because they didn't exist at the time, neither did the European Union. The Berlin wall had come down 9 months prior and the Soviet Union still controlled most of eastern Europe. The USSR didn't dissolve until 12/25/91 after a failed coup in August of 1991. Megadeth is great! Always have a jazzy bluesy structure to their music but thrashy metal! Very technical. Love the interlude with teh Spanish flamenco guitar acoustics too! Yes, They are masters on the guitars. Megadeth is singing about war crimes, politics, government, racial issues, etc. Thrash and punk rock is typical for that. Socially consience. Injustice things like that. Outcasts,. Similar to hard core rap music. I grew up listening to rap and metal and punk alot my friends did too.. I guess rebel music jaja. The album cover from Rust in Peace depicts the World Leads of 1990. First President Bush, the PMs of England and Japan, the President of Germany and Gorbachev of Russia. They are at 'Hanger 18' with Vic Rattlehead, Megadeth mascot, as he appears to attempt to resurrect an alien. The cover is more in line with the song titled 'Hanger 18' off the album than Holy Wars... The Punishment Due. The album title comes from the last song on the album, Rust in Peace, Polaris, a song about the perspective of a nuclear weapon.

"She Wolf" seems to be the go-to on the reaction channels as far as a "live" 'Deth song...and, I'll not dispute that. "Symphony of Destruction" is another that's popped up a few times. I'm terribly biased when it comes to this band, and I've only reiterated what's already out there. One should discover for themselves what 'Deth is...Just hold onto your face because they'll separate it from your skull. Enjoy...

My favorite album. Took me almost a year to learn how to play this on guitar

Best thrash song ever created. This is beyond classic. Masterpiece. Is " Next thing you know, they will take your thoughts away" Meaning the government will brainwash you.
