There’s a movie about their lives called “Walk the Line” with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. Reese Witherspoon won an academy award for best actress. It was a pretty good movie.

Joaquin was also nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars, but that was the year that Philip Seymour Hoffman won for Capote.

I thought it was a great movie! They have great voices and play the instruments so well.

It was an entertaining movie, but not totally accurate. It painted Johnny's first wife Vivian as a witch and June as this saint that came in and saved Johnny from drugs. In actuality, June persued Johnny, knowing he was a married man. Vivian's biggest crime was wanting her husband to be at home more, helping with raising their 4 girls. Instead Johnny was a selfish man who only cared about his career and having his good times. In his autobiography, he talks of the regret and pain he caused. We all make our mistakes, and Johnny Cash was no different.

June Carter is what is classified as Country Music royalty as her mom was one of the founding members of The Carter Family. They along with Jimmie Rodgers are who are considered to who have pioneered country music as they were the first to actually get record deals and also be played on the radio. June's mother was known as Mother Mabel and everyone seemed to revere her.
@pennydavis2637 Жыл бұрын
Mother Maybelle was a serious prolific songwriter in her own right, she wrote multitudes of songs for early performers, and June could sing very well but June was originally known for comedy acts…However the Carter family founded the Ryman in Nashville, and early Radio …

Johnny cash and june carter were so madly in love with eachother , they we're the literal definition of ride or die. The way he walks out of frame to give her the spotlight is how much he loved and respected that woman. He died of a broken heart not long after June died 😔

Fun fact that I literally learned tonight is that, Mrs Carter Cash is the only woman who has a husband, mother, aunt and uncle in the country music hall of fame. She is so underrated and was until she and Mr. Cash started working together.

June Carter Cash was a brilliant comedian too..Their stage show was highly entertaining, as there was tons of music, with lots of hilarious bits, usually from June. This came out of the years and years the Carter family(Mother Maybelle and the girls) were on the road..just standing on stage singing was not how it was done in those days..
She actually did the song without knowing that Johnny had it as a hit first.
