Plant has been asked numerous times over the years how he came up with that squeeze my lemon thing. He always answers "I didn't! But I wish I did!" It's lifted from an old blues song, like most of these lyrics here are. Plant was good at cobbling together lyrics from old blues songs and making it it's own song. Custard Pie is another example. The whole song is one liners from old blues songs.

Songs come from everywhere. Sometimes they come from other artists, but even when they come from your own mind they are still discoveries that usually come in bits and pieces which the artists have to shape into what we know as music. There is no such thing as pure innovation. Every musician will tell you that.

You hear everything from each member because Jimmy Page not only was the guitar God but produced everything for the band. After jamming in the recording sessions on all these songs he traded his Les Paul Gibson for the control desk and tape machines, and he put in long hours mixing and mastering the tapes for record production. Getting the EQ right, balancing everything so nothing was buried in the mix or too far up in the mix. He knew how much each member contributed and he wanted everyone to hear everything in every song. So he made sure the final mixes were as good as they are. For all his accolades as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, he's right up there with George Martin as one of the greatest record producers of all time.

First, great vid as always my man...As for more Zep tunes to check out, I'd suggest "The Rain Song" is beautiful, & one of my favorite songs ever. It always reminds me about skipping high school & going to the beach with cheap, warm beer & cold pizza, wading in the water & splashing my friends, and later on, puking bad pizza into the surf. One of my best memories from that time in my life, brought into the front of my mind as if it had happened yesterday, all those memories cascading into a true recollection of the innocence & freedom that ran through my veins in my youth. All of that distilled down to a single song. Amazing how music can transport you to your past, closest thing to time travel...(sigh). Sorry, I got a bit carried away, music does that to me. Plus I got the impressions that you like stories about the bands & whatnot, so I thought I'd share my experience with a Zep song. Prob too TLDR for most, but what the hell, I got alot of great stories about my time as a musician but mostly about great bands liive Ok, that's that.. See ya next vid...As always, keep rockin'! 🤘😎

My Led taste varies day to day. If I pit their stuff into categories it would be something like: 1) glorious mangling of the blues via fusion with hard rock (Dazed and Confused, You Shook Me, Nobody'sFault but Mine etc. 2) straight ahead hard rock (Black Dog, Immigrant Song, Achilles Last Stand), and 3) progressive, hippie, balladry, art stuff (No Quarter, Kashmir, Stairway, That's the Way). I havent thought these through at all so go easy on me here. In that vein I'd say that, at this moment, my favorites by category are: 1) Since I've Been Lovin You, 2) Wearing and Tearing, and 3) The Rain Song.

It’s so crazy they had to bring the American blues back to America for an whole new level of appreciation. Zep was not well liked in UK 🇬🇧 whey they came out. They found success in the USA and ONLY then did the UK become “woke”. 😎 BEST ROCK BAND EVER!
@davidhoward24874 жыл бұрын
It wasn't that they weren't well like in UK, it's because they got a deal from US, complete freedom..until that got renegaded on..then they released a single in UK...so we were finally able to hear them...Jimmy's riff, "Whole Lotta Love" was the theme tune to "Top of the Pops" I believe..

You gotta listen to The Lemon Song. The bass on that song will stunt your growth. It’s that amazing. Check out The Rover, Custard Pie, anything from their first 6 albums were all amazing. Zep 2 was hard, 3 was more acoustic and light, 4 was mystical and had When The Levee Breaks. Houses Of The Holy has Over The Hills And Far Away. Zep 1 is amazing. If you are unfamiliar with their stuff, I envy you. You are about to discover the most amazing music. It’s like stumping your toe on the beach and finding a pirates chest. Like winning the lottery.
