it's not the shop, it's this group of people. They haven't dedicated any money or an idea of work needing to be done. Also they have no idea what they are doing and act like children when things don't go slightly their way.
@licksoremasks6 жыл бұрын
Havent dedicated any money to it? did you miss the part in the previous video where frenchy handed them a huge pile of cash? And as for having a plan, they literally had a team of people show up to discus everything from work needed, to screen accuracy. They only seemed to "act like children" when they blocked the driveway to the shop, but only after the shop said they needed to move it to a location but had said location blocked off, and then jerked them around for hours and hours before they were able to move it into the garage. Its been obvious since they first got to this shop the people who run it had no idea what to do with this project. They didnt understand it wasnt just another shitty looking old truck, its a movie prop and therefore a piece of art with historical significance. For whatever reason it just wasnt very high up on the priority list for the shop.
@riddell266 жыл бұрын
licksoremasks yeah. I'm talking about at the shop. Did you even watch the video? You don't just walk in and say give me a quote, you have to say what you want done and go from there. If I owned a shop I wouldn't play with them either, the people who have payed and are lined up will get service first. And the obviously can't be a bad shop when they have so many RV's plus city buses lined up.

Media coverage. You guys need more people and honestly you'll need more coverage. I would reach out to not even the big media sites but even small blogs, and even KZbinrs. Check out Indy Mogul and Tested. They'll give you guys a big shout out and they have a LARGE following of people who would freak out over this! And that's what you need. Don't under estimate the power of the media. Get the word out to as many people as you can. Even just find someone to volunteer to be a spokesman and reaching out to blogs and youtubers and what not about this project. And I would absolutely LOVE to have a piece of the truck, a screen used small piece would be awesome to add to my collection. Lol.

Your absolutely right, you guys didn't know what you were doing from the get go. You had no plan. Nobody knows who's in charge. You don't take a budget restoration to a professional shop. You didn't have the tools to do the job. This RV should have been left where you found it. As for the shop, they are in for money. do you think they are going to do your budget work before a costumer who is paying regular/top rates? Most of the RVs in that shop are from people in the middle of their vacation, they get to the budget jobs when they can.

Serious suggestion here. Would you consider opening a Jurassic Park-themed restaurant and making the RV the centrepiece? It would be JP in theme and also have useful information presented in way or another to educate people about real dinosaurs and separate the film's fiction from reality's facts. As I recall, one of your stated goals initially was to take the RV around the country and use it to educate people about dinosaurs so this would fit nicely with that goal. My template for this suggestion is a restaurant here in my town of Toronto called The Old Spaghetti Factory, of which there are also several in the U.S it looks like. What do you think?

For all of those who just stumbled upon this video series like I did, don't bother watching the updates on the "Movie Cars Central" channel. It picks back up with episode 11 and the quality is horrible. I honestly skipped all the way to ep 22 and it didn't seem like there was any progress made. So, from here skip to something past ep22 and you won't be missing much. Just be prepared to fast forward a lot lol.

Ah, I was getting a little confused with the video you released 2 weeks ago having the roof finished and a few things done inside. I have a feeling there's more at play than what we're seeing on video here, but it's too bad that's all that has been done in an entire year. I think this project had started off with the best of intentions but without an actual place to store it and work on it (via volunteers) it won't receive the treatment it deserves. I thought maybe this shop would just be getting it into a driveable condition, not doing the actual restoration of it...

I have always wanted that RV. With the amount of money Jeff Gildblum and the other actors have I am surprised they are not helping out with this project. Anyway I hope the next Jurassic movie has a off road Chevy Silverado in it. Would give me ideas for my truck. I hope this project gets completed because it is worth the money when it's finished. I hope you guys are actually going to put actual metal bars on the windows and back drop hatch door instead of wood and colored pvc pipe.
@Lionaljohn8 жыл бұрын
With that, I only have a very small number of followers myself but from now on I will be shouting out to your channel about the RV to get the word out. That RV deserves to be totally restored as it is one of a kind. Even if my small family can't have it due to money, someone else deserves to have it fully restored and functional.
@Fifury1616 жыл бұрын
To me this is more an episode of "pimp my ride" than a restoration project. I don't know if that's the shops fault - to me it seems they just see another repair job. Did anyone explain the significance of this RV to them? Is there only one RV shop within driving distance? They lost any provenance of the vehicle when they stripped out the carpets. The shop wanted to take the RV back to the framework - I just don't think they get the difference between restoration & repair...

I like and share on Facebook every time you guys upload a new video or photo. But I think people in the comments need to realize that this is a money issue simple as that. To me it sounds like excitement took over critical thinking and they took on this project without knowing how hard it would be. The amount of work that needs to go into this project is just ridiculous and you just can't take short cuts. This whole RV pretty much needs to be stripped back down to the bare metal repaired then start from scratch.
@theaficionauto8 жыл бұрын
Agreed.
@davidward94876 жыл бұрын
The issue with that is the more you strip it down the less it becomes screen used and more an elaborate replica. Also that shop is not listening to that either. Those panels that were ripped off were access points for the cameras (as mentioned by you guys) and probably a perfect place to try sky lights. In any event preservation is the biggest key with this and that unfortunatly costs tons of money.

You should call up some shops with TV shows; like Bitchin' Rides (Kindig-It Designs, Salt Lake City), Counting Cars (Counts Customs, Las Vegas), or Car Fix (somewhere east coast I think). They would do a good job and love the publicity of working on a famous movie vehicle. Kindig-It Designs restored an original GM Futureliner (which sold for $4.1 million) and that monster of a vehicle was taller then this beast.

It always seems like you guys are getting pushed to the back of the queue and that no one has the cajones to tell the service shop to shove it and for you to take the RV to another shop. I believe the problem is they know they have you by the cajones because the option of moving the RV somewhere isn't feasible. NEVER show them your cards. Keep them close to the vest. (as they say) I also realize that more money would make many of these issues disappear as it normally does. I just feel that you are being taken for a ride and it's costing you time and money and I HATE seeing people get taken.
