man, wish this project was closer to me. Im a certified mechanic, metal fabracator, dabble in wood work, coatings specialist and I build movie props and one of my hobbies is working within the Michigan film community. I remember when that RV was on ebay. I wanted to buy it so bad and restore it. My love for the Jurassic Park franchise is beyond huge and I feel like I would be an extremely valuable asset to your team if I was on it. I feel like my skill set, plus my passion for JP would vastly help you guys. Good luck with this project and I hope to see more episodes!

Doing a good job of dragging out this project, should have called a couple of KZbin mechanics, the job would have been complete at episode 2.

It could have been done faster if they know where to go. It seems they are torn apart between wht it is and what they want it to be. This is a prop, that is just made for filming. If, they want ot turn it into a fully functional RV they will get rid of parts such as roof and walls which they clearle stated about they must remain or it won't be a prop RV but a replica.

​@@tomjoad1363Dude coming back to this as an adult, after watching it as a hyped high schooler makes me realize that literally none of the people attached to the project knew what they were doing lol They had no mechanical experience and were trying to make a high profile KZbin series off of a project that a competent team could have finished in like a month or two. They tried making a bankable youtube series off of the RVs but JP vehicles are just too niche of a market to get any decent profit from views or Patreon off of, so they just sold it to a collector to recoup their losses

Too bad there aren't any carguys in your crew with mechanical skills that could push this project. 1 year after finding the rig and now it has been parked inside a shop. At this rate i think several more years will be needed to make real progress.

Wait, that thing was overheating like a CHAMP if I remember right. That's more than spark plugs and fluids!!!! You have a bad thermostat, clogged radiator, or trashed water pump. Probably all three need to be replaced along with all the dry rotted rubber hoses. AT MINIMUM! Then there's brake (not "break") fluid, transmission flush, and of course engine oil. Then, out back there's the differential which has oil in it as well and should be serviced.

I never understood this from the beginning. The whole point was to drive it to save money on towing yet they're just burning up the engine and trans which will sure as shit cost more than a tow.

RV sits for 10+ years....Overheats on the highway, transmission is slipping.....so called mechanic checks the oil and says "oh still pretty clean, its good" and "you don't need to change it unless you want to".....at that point id get in the RV and leave. Even when you all take it to the mechanic no-one has any idea what they are doing. If you had got a real mechanic on day 1 this would have been alot easier and probably close to done at this point in the series. GL

This shop is such a sleazy place. I wish you guys would just do it yourself. You would care for it a lot more than they would. In any case yes that engine needs a full service not just plugs. it needs all fluids changes , everything rubber should be changed , needs a better radiator and better cooling fans for it.

chabka34 actually they had just replaced the oil before moving it, just because it had sat for 10 years. So the oil was like a month old at that point.

Dear god!! Find some enthusiasts who know what they are doing. They are out there. Would cost 10 times less. Didn't try looking in the southern US did you?? Everybody here knows how to repair and restore vehicles. And tons of them have tow vehicles. I guarantee you there are some fans down here who have a bunch of time on their hands who would have done this faster and better.

Still think it's a shame they're not putting a 4BT or 6BT diesel engine it it, that gas V8 was probably never designed to haul the RV plus a huge trailer, plus all the weight of additional props... I'm guessing that it had just enough to make the whole thing move in the film.

Personally I would just had them done the roof then got it out of there because this project started what? 2 years ago and it finally got into a shop in Dec?? They do it for a living let the guys in the shop the mechanics Weber it is in the shop. Let them park it let them work on it if you guys want to help help. For the professionals are the ones in the shop. You guys don't give those guys a chance. And I'm supposed to stop just for you. If you notice there's massive RV campers there that are being worked on.

just stumbled on this serious, I'm not sure what the hell you guys are thinking but why are you spending a nickle on the outside when obviously it has major engine and transmission issues. The so called shop did really nothing to check the condition of the engine or trans. Minimum would be a compression test of the engine to see if it had any life, or a leak down test. And dropping trans pan... Seriously WTF..... did we forget all the overheating issues...

VGAPR Garage lol that shop is the problem. I've dealt with many like them. If you can't manage the shop then don't take on more customers. They always have a delay and a excuse for the delay. The cheap route does not mean they take money and treat them differently.
