It was hinted at that there MAY be an equivalent of albino, melanistic, piebald, and trurac varieties...for fish that might look like different coloration, maybe scars on the body of predatory fish, etc...im sure the dev's would like some suggestions dropped on their steam forum if you have a special idea in mind.

It might just be catch and release because they might not want to encourage keeping all the fish you catch, etc.

i think it would be cool to have a book to fill out about information. for example if you catch more of a certain fish in cold water it will say “this fish likes cold water in small rivers” which is dynamic to your experience

To get around the catch and release and mounting a trophy fish, in the trophy shot screen, they could use that same process to get the exact measurements of the fish for taxidermy, and then click "Taxidermy", then after closing out of the trophy shot screen we see an animation of the character letting the fish go into the water, if that could be a problem with the programming, there could just be a "Release button" on the trophy shot screen. Just an idea

they should make a great lakes map with lake trout and king salmon. or another one in alaska what obviously alaskan salmon and sockeye. i also think they should incorporate land animals like from the hunter cotw in the game, for example you come across a grizzly at the edge of alaskan running water trying to catch a fish with his jaws. i think that would be pretty cool. another thing they should incorporate is the variety of colors in the species of fish, such as how you can get a palomino or just a standard rainbow trout, adding variety to species of fish.

Although I’ve never played The Hunter (a mistake I plan to correct now), I’m truly looking forward to this one. As an avid angler I do hope when they incorporate real bait companies, that 2 of those are River2Sea (the Whopper Plopper) and Googan baits. In regards to the latter, however, I am hoping that they come up with a more realistic, less stiff way of fishing soft plastic baits. It’s an area I feel most fishing games have failed miserably at. Soft plastic baits are one of the backbones of fishing. Great video my friend!

Seeing Googan would be really cool, if they could get Googan to okay it they could add their rods as well, it would be cool seeing the green and gold series rods in game, not to mention the fact that FLAIR has played thehunter on streams before i believe, so i think they wouldnt have a problem getting them in game, because its advertising for both of them, googan members could play the game and expose people to the game, and people playing the game can get exposed to googan bait and rods, its a win win

One thing that has been bugging me is that the finger is not on the bait caster spool when throwing it in the trailer. This may not seem like too much of an important feature but it shows me that if it’s not added then the dev may not know how it works there fore meaning the fishing could potentially not be correct idk let’s hope so!!!!! True, you pretty much have to have your thumb on their for at least most of the cast or you'll birdnest the reel, but it is probably possible to set the reel up so it won't backlash, but you would only be able to cast like 10 feet i would guess lol. But yeah, thats an oversight on their part, it is still a first look at the game so they will probably add it, hopefully before it releases, it is just a single animation afterall

I think it would be cool if they were able to make it so catches in this game could be added to your trophy lodges in The Hunter: COTW. Not sure who easy that would be, but since they are both Call of the Wild, it would make sense/be cool if there was some level of compatibility between the two.

I'll say this, if they don't add a way to display trophy fish, then I suspect the game will loose a ton of replay ability for me. Lets say you catch a 42 pound channel cat and that shows up in the journal, ok cool but a week later you catch a 40 pounder. I would want that one displayed too or at least visable forever. I know it would be a little odd to have a fish only trophy lodge, but it would be the best long term thing in my opinion.

I'm hopeful that we well see real world brands in time. Having said that, just having a lot of variety of rods and reels regardless of brand names is a bigger matter of importance to me. I want to have a variety similar to what you see in Fishing Planet. Just without the notable "pay to win" quality of real money equipment vs in-game currency equipment.

There needs to be a diary system and a type of gps so if you catch a large fish you can record the fish and its geo location, so you can move across the map and return to your old locations using geo location and your diary with details of bait and lure? . This would then enable you to beat your current records giving a whole new sense of immersion.

I'm hoping that eventually it expands to have things like carp fishing with pods etc. In Fishing Planet it's fun to set the pod up, get you baits out for carp or catfish or whatever else, and then do some spinning and casting for other fish.

I doubt they'll go full saltwater fishing, but I bet they could easily implement brackish waterways where you can fish for certain saltwater species that fit that sort of environment. Regardless, I'm excited to see a competent dev take on a serious fishing sim--everything up to this point has been janky or very mediocre F2P offerings.

I hope someday we can get some legacy lures that are both discontinued and current. Like The Jitterbug, or The Dying Flutter. I refused to go fishing without them as a kid. Smallmouth and Largemouth bass go wild for em at dusk. Also if they do saltwater, off the coast of NH is great. You can get striped bass near the rivermouths, mackerel, pollack, flounder, bluefish, tuna, haddock, swordies, pretty much everything except sailfish and grouper.

Bow fishing , hunting dogs for different jobs one example would be able to take a small pack of bay dogs to hunt pigs so they would go out find and bay them that would be cool even setting pig and varmint traps where u able to check and also jug fishing or throw/trout line fishing

i know that not everyone is on the same page with this idea but i feel like it would fill in that empty landscape if they were to just combine this with theHunter. i just feel like driving from one fishing spot to the next while seeing deer or bear, fox, rabbit, etc. would be so much more immersive. i mean maybe there will be wildlife, but to also be able to choose between a hunting or fishing trip would be incredible. it would feel like a truly open world. regardless, im extremely happen to see EW release thi game, as ive been asking for it since day one of playing theHunter!

I think that the trophy shot is perfect for this game. Mounts would be nice as long as fish could be "released" keeping track of weight, length, girth and photo of unique patterns/markings to make replica for a mount. I think tank and or aquarium to keep fish in is extremely unrealistic, how many trophy fish get brought home and kept in aquarium.. none! My opinion on keeping the game to keeping the game as close to real life fishing as possible. I think this will be an absolute amazing game when it comes out, EW is killing it. Hopefully we will see saltwater (flats/offshore) in the future.

For my 2c, as a non-angler, no lodges is a mistake. Photos are nice, but a lodge you can walk through would be much more engaging and more easily brings back memories of when that fish was caught (or hunted in COTW), at least for me. Hopefully they make that at least an option that gets added in pre-release, because right now without it my 'buy' has become a 'bide' as I really don't have a lot of interest in a Steam subdirectory of posed screenshots only. For comparison, when someone is showing off their harvests in Classic or COTW I don't recall them getting out their photos. Like I say, just my personal perspective but hearing that I'm not keen to go ahead, play, and take photos, only for EW to *then* add in a lodge for mounted catches with no certainty of retrospective trophy mounting.
