A lot of questions I wish Joey had asked her, such as 1) any fears about her safety when visiting a customer, or any problems of possessive and jealous customers that might become obsessive over her or other girls 2) how her relationship with her parents is now, how they reacted etc 3) if she had any regrets at any points (for example if and when her family found out) 4) if she’s ever encountered anyone she knew 5) does she have any plans to settle down or have kids, does she have a partner and how do they feel about her work? 6) what was her first delivery health job like and was she terrified or embarrassed? Aside from this, wouldn’t she have been very naive and afraid when she first started messing around with guys since she had such a strict religious background? Didn’t she fear being judged, the consequences etc? Wasn’t she afraid her university would find out and expel her when she was already so close to graduation? 7) what would she be doing as a job if she didn’t get into sex work? 8) what do they do at delivery health since there’s allegedly no penetration? Also I completely don’t believe that there’s no penetration for delivery health lol

God is with You Throughout the Bible, there are various moments where God tells someone to not be afraid. Each one comes at a time when the hearer has every reason to be very afraid. In one instance, Joshua, the leader of Israel after the death of Moses, was taking the Israelites to their promised land (see: Exodus 3). He was leading over one million people to a place God had promised, and it meant going through some overwhelming and terrifying situations. In the midst of this, God commanded Joshua to do two things: Obey the Word of God and, be strong and courageous because the Lord was with them. (See: Joshua 1:7-9) In Matthew 28, Jesus says something similar just after His resurrection. He is with His eleven disciples and He tells them: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 ESV (Emphasis added) Jesus tells His disciples two main things: - Obey His word (“go into all nations and make disciples”) and, He would be with them. - God is always the same. He was the same God when He gave Joshua His word and the assurance of His presence, and He is the same God who gives us His Word and assures us of His presence. We are known, loved, and cared for by the faithful, consistent God-and He will never leave or abandon us. Today, reflect on the ways you can teach others about Jesus and His words. How does His Word and His presence make you strong and courageous? Before leaving this time, thank God for His promise to always be with you.

Same. My parents, for instance, never gave me the “talk” because in our culture it is widely taboo. I found out about some things when I was ten. Over the years, I learned more and experimented, and I don’t treat it like “Ayo, that is wild. 💀🤨”anymore. Dirty jokes was so middle school! Haha! It does feel powerful to be able to give advice on these aspects when people need it and opening up about experiences in a mature light instead of being deceitful or secretive about it.

@@mintandfruits Yeah, but we also have to understand why it's so difficult to engage. The birds and bees talk doesn't always result in taking the best path forward. 4:17 she has been in the industry for about 6-7 years which is considered long because most girls are just about 2-3 years or 1-2 years only. 4:45 "lots of girls only stay for about 3 months." 5:00 " a lot of the girls in the industry (sex worker not as adult video) are university girls that just want a little bit of extra pocket money. they come to earn a few 10,000 yen. but the work isn't that easy and a lot of girls leave." 5:27 "there are job recruitment websites specifically for sex work." there are ads as well on trucks like "vanilla truck" for example. 5:34 "sometimes you see those flashy trucks driving around Shinjuku or Shibuya,playing that 'high paying jobs' song." 8:17 "I grew up in a really strict household. But it wasn't just strict it was a really religious household. my parents didn't allow dating, didn't allow me to read battle manga,and weren't allowed to participate in sports days in school as well because they're "battles" between different teams. " this is one of the reasons she works as a prostitute so as parents you should not be strict with anything. 11:09 to start with I (she) works in a deriheru, which is short for "delivery health " so with deriheru, you don't go to a shop. you call and order over the phone, and the girls go to you. it's a "delivery" service. 11:32 " the word " health " refers to sexual services without actual sex , meaning no penetration." "there's no actual sex, and you'll be reported to the police if you try to do that." 11:51 " deriheru is probably the most common type of sex work now." 12:41 "you can't get permits to set up new brothels." 13:05 "hotel health has a front desk. You go to the shop, and there's a lot of pictures of the girls for you to pick from. after that,you go to a nearby hotel and wait for the girl to come." 13:37 "then there's "hakoheru" which stands for "hako health" (box health)" . "Box" means that everything is self-contained in the shop. You don't have to go anywhere else." 13:43 "what's the difference between hakoheru and soaplands? the difference is how far you can go. it's whether you can have actual sex or not." health means you cannot do actual sex, so only in soaplands you can have actual sex. 13:59 "so if you try to have sex at a "health" , you will get in trouble." 14:30 "onakura which is short for "onani club" (masturbation club), but they're not shops where you masturbate. They give you handjobs." "and in places like that, it can cost you extra if you want the girls to take their clothes off." "There's a lot of paid extras so it can get expensive if you try to do the same things you'd do at health or the girls might even refuse." 15:33 "Soaplands and other hako-style shops hide their girls faces." "deriheru no physical shop, so they have to put uncensored pictures on the internet so people can decide." "while lot's of places do show uncensored pictures , some girls still hide their faces even at deriheru. " "it is the girls choice to show or not their faces." I think the shops don't care because if no one hires them because they hide their faces then they get no money . 16:40 "it's probably more difficult for men who do this work. women are probably pickier than men so it's probably hard for working men." this is proof that women are more difficult to please . 17:44 these girls usually get an average take home of 30,000 - 40,000 yen a day, but some girls can get 3-4 million yen a month. 18:14 "the shop set up the price and decide how much the girl get as well." "there are cheap shop and expensive shop. the girls decide which one they want to work for . the girl can negotiate like if they have so many customer then they want to get better pay. so usually the girl uses social media like twitter and instagram to share their contact info with customer and build up a customer base. once they have done that (build costumer base) , they move to a more expensive shop. 19:40 she has about 1000 customers. 21:09 there is no actual sex with deriheru. so the girl is the one who determines what kind of service she offers. for example is an*l s*x they call it an*l f*ck because it doesn't count as actual sex. 21:37 "an*l s*x doesn't count as sex." so that means you can do that in deriheru shops . 21:44 "there are actually a lot of specialized an*l f*ck shops,where all the girls are all right with it." 21:56 " it is a bit strange, but "actual" sex is prohibited by Japanese law. and in shops where you can have sex, there's an unspoken rule. it's implied that the people there, are two private individuals having sex. it's a change meeting that lead to sex. 22:27 "so at health the girl can decide what optional services they want to offer." 23:18 "lots of shops have information in english now" (means foreigners can do "it" too now) . it was only for those who can speak japanese but now you can. 23:21 but some girls refuse customers that cannot speak Japanese (non-Japanese). because there are a lot of rules and the foreign customers might accidentally break the rules. 26:00 she likes as a sex worker because she can communicate with customers while as an adult video worker you must follow script only. 26:49 "lots of people do that, and people actually go both ways" ( work as sex worker and then go to adult video and work as an adult video and then also work as a sex worker). 26:52 "lots of girls move to sex workers after doing adult videos to build up their brand." 29:25 filming when you're doing it with sex worker is illegal. 29:45 I think your map about where sex is legal is not accurate. 30:01 " there is actually a form that shops have to submit to the police, and they'll be offcially recognized once they've submitted that." 31:45 "they cum without getting hard. that seems to happen with men over 70." 33:33 so in the industry, there's an option called "free" . which means the customer agrees to have any girl that is free (do not have a customer) at the moment . the price is also slightly cheaper. 33:55 her name is Mariten. but this may just be an alias not a real name. 35:03 deriheru's service time is minimum 60 minutes and maximum is overnight (over 1,000 minutes). by booking overnight you might (can) go on a trip with the sex worker (if the girl is ok with it). but it will be about 500,000 - 600,000 yen. 36:20 but even Mariten who accepts overnight trips might not go on trips if the customer is difficult and or someone that she doesn't really know yet. 37:35 for her the job is more about communication than selling her body. she said because when you have a personal, naked experience with someone in bed then you usually have pillow talk and that is when you got to see the real, raw person. ( this is great observation and I think this is true). for example there are powerful important people that act really sweet and spoiled at that moment or school teacher who complains about his students or someone who is like model father complains about their wives. 39:03 she called that moment is very dirty and human and that dirtiness is proved that everyone has that and that makes her feel relieved. 39:32 she feels that lots of people can only open up about things in that environment. 40:00 Mariten doesn't have a public facade and she is like this 24/7. maybe that is why she has a lot of consumer. 40:16 she has about 6-7 years experience and is called a veteran in the industry so she gave seminars to other girls in the industry. 40:59 "sometimes you lie and tell customers it felt good" . so you should never trust when a prostitute says that you do great. 42:25 Mariten doesn't want to work at soapland (where they offer actual sex / vagin*l s*x) because unlike deriheru, soapland makes her needs to go to the shop (deriheru does not need her to go from her house) and also soapland needs the worker to do mat play which is an important thing that the girl must be able to do and that requires training and more effort. 43:20 well if in my opinion is that soon (like maybe give or take 5 years from now) robots when they have been perfected will be replacing some of them. 44:51 Mariten says that soft service ia more popular in the industry nowadays. Young people don't use sex service as much anymore. the fact that young people are more passive about sex nowadays is actually a problem for the industry. 45:25 Mariten says that apparently young people nowadays don't go to brothels. 45:42 but massage places with happy endings are more popular these days . this is the place where guys just lie there and get serviced. 45:58 Mariten thinks that people nowadays do not want to form bonds with others because they are afraid to be hurt now. 48:27 now everyone uses social media like Twitter and the girl as an individual has more power now, before, only the shops promote certain girls on the website but now the girls that have the ability to self marketing earn much more customer (because the girls find their own customer on Twitter) but the shop still charge and give the same cut for the girls so managing social media is actually give more work to the girls. because 50:05 legally the girl needs to be with the shop. 50:40 because even if the girls get higher take home pay if she doesn't work with the shop (this is illegal today), this is dangerous because at least with the shop someone knows at which hotel you are in . 51:30 Mariten thinks she will only be able to do at top level and in the industry for just another 2 years because in 2026 she will be 35 years old and she worried about her physicality is still good enough (still beautiful) and will her stamina and energy still be good. 52:40 "are you a dom or a sub?" Mariten is a sub(Mariten is usually more passive) . what does a sub do when there is no actual sex? she answers that she is starting as passive then aggressive later. 53:54 Mariten youtube channel is "Honkure ch" which is short for "Honshi ni natte Kuremasuka?" which means "will you become my regular customer" or "will you come back to see me again".

I find one of the recurring statements in interviews with people in the adult industry, no matter what culture, is the closeness the customers get to the workers. It sounds like, for some of the customers, adult industry workers are a form of therapy, which I think says a lot about how the work-life balance around the world has really affected all of us.
@grumpytanuki76748 ай бұрын
It's absolutely a form of therapy. I'm not a sex worker myself, but I've done research on human sexuality and its facets for a while now. There's a big business of professional Dominatrixes close to the government area and big business zones; because guys who are the big movers and shakers in their daily lives sometimes need that therapy - to give up all that control and responsibility to someone else, even if only for an hour at a time.

It is it is, I'm a client who knows other clients and it's often a disappointment if the working lady has a bad personality or is deliberately distant. Most people out of the industry probably wouldn't think we care about that but we do.
@k.v.76817 ай бұрын
When I was younger I worked in a bar that had a lot of working girls waiting for clients, resting a bit etc. It was a safe indoors public space where they could start their interactions and land after them. There are a couple stories I still remember quite well. There was one "older" lady (in her late 50's) that had a young customer that never asked for sex. He just wanted to have a nap with his head on her chest. She shared another client with a younger girl. An older gentleman that took the older lady on date-like outings once a week (restaurant, cinema...). As for the younger one, he just took her on meals and asked her how she was doing in Uni (she was a student). Turns out he was a widower that lost his daughter in a car crash when she was in school. And one that really stuck is a lady bound to a wheel chair that used to come with her husband. She'd "select" a girl to help her out with what she couldn't manage. I had a chat with her once seeing her alone as she was waiting for her husband to come from work. Really confident in her relationship and what they did. At the end of the day, sex workers tend to respond to a deeply intimate human need that very rarely boils down to "sex", and can even be separate from it. They offer people the chance to be vulnerable where they otherwise could not.

One question I'm curious about that wasn't asked (the entire interview was very insightful and classy) is if Japanese culture sees it as cheating to have these services done or is it subjective person to person? I know in 'most' Western cultures it would be seen as such if you have a partner. Another would be if it would be hard not to form attachments or possibly fall in love with certain clients since part of the work is intimacy in more way than one. (Love your stuff, Joey. I've been watching you for years. Keep on, keep on! 🎉)

this truly shows that parenting is a seriously lifelong, extremely big responsibility for raising children. And to be fair, it is not my first time seeing people who were raised in a strict household ending up being the opposite of what their parent's expectations. Children are born with curiosity and they have a mind of their own as they grew older. The more parents restrict, the more terrifying the outcome would be. I'd bet only small amount of people actually raised their child "exactly" what they wanted their kids to be. While others they have completely backfired.

Not sure about Japan, but in the UK a lot of the escorts know each other or at least communicate with each other and so if someone acts inappropriately, they'll essentially get blacklisted, now bear in mind I only know the one person, but she says most people are respectable and that they're more likely to be shy than aggressive, but that some can be too aggressive, and they won't see them again. So for escorts at least the don't seem to have too bad of a time which is why a lot of them do it relatively long term. The issues tend to be around brothels and non-independent escorts. But like I said, I know one and she's fine and doesn't have as many interesting stories as you'd think, but that may not be the same for others.
