PSA: As someone born in a tropical climate, (meaning humid not dry), silk is kind of a no go except for special occasions. Why? 1) it conducts heat. 2) with humidity it sticks to the body. 3) it stains easily with sweat and water. 4) cotton and linen, which you can find in 'smooth' finishes, too, work and hold up better, so why wear silk? I know silk is trendy now and it's a natural fiber and supposedly breathable (Look into why they make silk long johns - it traps heat), but it's not a hot/humid weather fabric. Especially if you want to own that piece for a long time.

I’ve been thinking the same thing during this video!! Silk is SO hot on my Florida-girl body. I never wear it unless it’s during our laughable fall/winter! Hope Anna sees this!!😊. Oops!! Looks like she’s already there!

Black silk should be fine though, no? It does feel amazing in hot weather. I know a lot of people say silk doesn't breathe but I agree with Anna - it feels like you're naked in the best way haha.

While I think packing for LONG trips might be more fun to watch, seeing videos packing for SHORT trips is more helpful for me (and some viewers) that can’t often afford to go on long trips. 4-5 day trips are standard for my vacations, so I like seeing how others maximize their packing list with limited space/options. Still excited for the California packing video though!

@@111-k4d9m as a Central European (Hungarian), may I ask why you think that? We love sandals; surely, for instance, flip flops are not practical footwear outside but absolutely nobody cares what you wear on your feet. Birkenstocks and other sandals are particularly great options for the summertime in my experience, never had anyone in my country say they aren't. Whatever is practical and comfy, is a good decision.

Getting ready to head to Scotland in a couple of weeks. You inspired me to do a 10x10 challenge. Went to the originators website for a downloadable form. Helped immensely in my planning. Edit: LOVE THE LINEN TROUSER LOOK Hi Anna, I am so intrigued to see how you go with those outfits. I had no need for a denim jacket at all for Bali personally (even to travel with, I just used a sarong/big scarf). Also if you could share your tips on washing on the go - I couldn't even get my bathers (swimsuit??) to dry over 24 hours in hot and humid Bali!! A friend of mine recommends just getting clothes professionaly laundered over there because it smells amazing and actually gets dry! Xx

I lived in Asia for many years and traveled to Bali for a while. Hats, a parasol and sunscreen are musts. Buy yourself a Balinese fan while you're there, they're great! I lived in light wheight cotton shorts, tanks and flip flops. You may want to consider wearing your hair up. It'll be interesting to see if you like the silk or if you sweat in it. Have fun!

Actually, sleeves are a good idea in Bali. First time I went I didn’t bring anything with sleeves. Caught a lot of sunlight on my shoulders the first day... I did very much regret not bringing a top with sleeves

I love my silk shirts but I find they wrinkle more than my other clothes in the suitcase. I have brought my portable steamer before but it’s annoying when you go to the different countries with different voltage sometimes. I would love to hear how you deal with that Anna:)

Emily Baddeley i have loq strappy sandals and I will warn you they aren’t the most comfortable but they are beautiful shoes. If you’re going to wear them to a wedding buy them ahead of time and try to break them in. I wore them shopping and within 30 mins I was in severe pain ( and I wear heels a lot) I was hobbling home lol but they are so beautiful on the feet so worth getting and trying to break in a little at a time

Alison James As someone who’s grown up in a hot, humid climate (florida), I’ve found people are a lot more paranoid about washing clothes than necessary. One time wearing something if you weren’t active doesn’t require a rewash. It’s all about what you also have planned to do.
