Intresting discussion. As a student I studied evolution for a month and it was so indulging. And as a Muslim a lots of things from the holy QURAN made sense. I am still not sure why haven't any Muslim evolutionary biologist made any remarkable progress in the field. We could definitely contribute a lot.

Salam, this was my response to someone regarding human origins: "The Quran clearly says that modern humans were produced from the genes of earlier types of humans (Quran 6:133). Compare that verse with Ayat 4:132-133. The problem is that Muslim scholars think mankinds relation to earlier humans (Homo Habilis, Erectus, Neaderthalis etc.) contradicts the exclusive creation of Adam, and it doesnt. Just because Adam was formed from clay does not mean that genetic material from earlier humans was not utilized in his creation. Adam was fromed from clay but that clay required DNA and this DNA was taken from earlier humans and modified. The Quran explicitly says this and it is not even vague about it (6:133). The classical interpretation of this Ayah (6:133) makes no sense (that it simply means one generation being replaced by the next) because the verse is given as a THREAT. God is saying that he can wipe out the entire human race and replace us wth another race of creatures-JUST LIKE HE PRODUCED THE CURRENT HUMAN RACE FROM THE GENES OF OTHER/EARLIER HUMANS! If the classical interpretaion was correct then the threat of replacement in this Ayah would make absolutely no sense because the current generation will always be replaced by the next. Read all the verses where Allah threatens to replace the current human race with another species (4:132-133, 43:60, 14:19-20, 35:15-17) and then read Ayah 6:133. Modern humans, although exclusively created from clay, are still genetically related to earlier types of humans. And you should understand that to deny this would be calling ayah 6:133 incorrect! The Quran is silent on the exact mechanism of creation for other animals or that of the humans that were before us, but it is obvious from both the Quran and biology that Allah creates new species by manipulating existing DNA. All living things (including Adam/humans) have our ultimate origin from water and the Quran does not deny this either (a cell contains 70% water and Quran 21:30 is possibly a reference to the single celled origin of all life, but im not sure). The scientist who think that evolution is somehow happening blindly on its own through random mechanism without any direction whatsoever are also sadly mistaken. Please believe the words of Allah that he gave to his messenger Muhammad. Salam."

Allah says «be» and it becomes. What are your sources that there was human dna before Adam
@sheldonspider862 ай бұрын
@@robortalienFrom Quran 6:133 and science. Read the comment carefully please. The evolution is wrong because they think we came naturally from previous humans and we did not. We share their dna but it did not happen “naturally”. Allah formed Adam from clay (Quran 15:26) as separate, special creation, but some genetic information was taken from previous humans. Allah created Adam and his descendants as successors to those who were here before and the angels disputed with Allah about it based on their knowledge of the previous humans (Quran 2:30). The traditional exegesis of Quran 6:133 is wrong. The classical scholars did not know about species of human which existed before modern humans because this was not discovered until recently, so they could not properly understand this ayah. We are not the first and only humans, we are only CHILDREN OF ADAM. Read the WHOLE Quran and believe it. Believe what Allah told his Messenger even if you do not understand it. Salam Alaikum.

The Quran’s claim that humans were created from mud and clay should be scrutinized with the same critical and objective lens applied to any other unfounded claim. This assertion is part of a larger mythological narrative, lacking empirical evidence and scientific validation. When viewed through the lens of modern science, which provides a well-supported understanding of human origins through the theory of evolution, this claim appears as an outdated and baseless story rather than a credible explanation. Just as we critically assess other religious or mythological claims, the assertion from the Quran about human creation should be evaluated with the same rigorous scrutiny, recognizing it as a product of ancient myth rather than scientific fact.

Issues of evolution don’t bother me because the Quran has so many proofs about literally everything. That said, I think a main issue for people that have questions about evolution and Islam, is that people usually are referring to the Darwinian theory and just label it as THE theory. From my understanding, there are many theories. I also have heard that Darwin himself did not believe his own theories were correct at the end of his life. I’m almost positive that I saw some good videos with Hamza Tortsis and another brother who’s name I can’t recall that have more expansive info on other theories. It’s likely that maybe some of those other theories are more compatible with Islam. Either way, I trust Allah SWT, the Prophet SAW, and the holy Quran that Allah has given us, so I’m sure that what it says is true regardless of whether we can make sense of it right now or not.
@TmanRock92 ай бұрын
They call it “the theory” because it’s the only supported theory. There aren’t any other competing theories of evolution. Darwin’s theory is the only working theory for the diversity of life, and he himself contributed little to the modern understanding. It wouldn’t matter if Darwin believed then or not. It’s validity doesn’t rest on his conviction.

Read this: Ibn Taymiyyah says: “So, after knowing what the messenger has come with, we know by necessity that he has not legislated for his nation to call upon anyone from the dead, not the prophets, the righteous ones, or anyone other than them; not in the wording of Isthighatha or other than it, and not in the wording of Isti'anah or other than it. Just like how he has not legislated for his nation to prostrate to the dead, to one that isn't dead, or the likes of that. Rather, we know that he has forbidden us from all these affairs, and this is from amongst the Sh*rk that Allah and his messenger forbade. But due to the increase of ignorance and lack of knowledge of the Athar of the message amongst many of those who came later on, Takf*r can't be done on them until what the mesenger came with becomes clear to them from that which opposes it.” الاستغاثة ٤١١

Yasir Qadhi is fit to be a mujtahid for this generation, especially for Muslims living in the west and in secular countries. With all due respect to the Shaikhs of the Muslim world, they have no clue how to deal with modern problems in a detailed manner with Islamic basis.

Yasir Qadhi at 45:30 said that all narrations regarding Yajuj and Majuj being alive currently are from the Bible as stated by Ibn Kathir. There is a hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari related to the wall of Yajuj and Majuj that mentions a hole being made. It is narrated by Zainab bint Jahsh: "The Prophet (ﷺ) once came to her in a state of fear and said, 'None has the right to be worshiped but Allah! Woe to the Arabs from the great evil that has approached. A hole has been made in the wall of Gog and Magog like this,' and he made a circle with his index finger and thumb. This hadith illustrates the concern and urgency the Prophet (ﷺ) expressed about the impending threat of Gog and Magog. This is graded as Sahih YQ does this often where he says something that is factually incorrect and since he only talks to sycophants he gets away Scott free without being rebuked for his inaccuracies, whether intentional or not. Not to mention the clear Nas of the Quran in Surat Al Kahf whereby it states that when the day comes they will burst through the gates and pour upon the Earth. The prophet mentioned they will say inshaAllah and it will give out. YQ really lost the plot all due to an inferiority complex.

About the evolution, it would have been better to invite a Muslim specialist in evolution. I listened decades ago to a French Muslim professor who specialists in biology and evolution. He had solid arguments refuting most of the theories. The problem is that we feel comply to reconcile evolutionary theory with an Islamic perspective, which is wrong. While it is impossible that science debunks authentic Islamic affirmation, we have to understand that Islam is a revelation most of it is beyond our world, our human scientific framework.
Evolution is an observable natural phenomenon. It is a fact and 'Modern synthetic theory of evolution' is the current best explanation available for this fact. One can only refute a scientific theory through scientific methods. Arguments without any evidence does not refute any scientific theory.

I really enjoyed this discussion. I think Dr. Qadhi was incredibly nuanced about his own position on evolution. However, framing things as “after all, a theory” is destructive to the things people spend the better part of their adult lives studying, researching, improving. It’s as much of a theory as the theory of relativity or any other scientific theory. It’s not the same as the colloquial word we use

That's why he keep repeating himself like he isn't a scientist, what is his position, leave something ambiguous, no obligation to know in details, etc.

MashaAllah loved your questions to the sheikh. One thing I felt through the whole podcast was that he was afraid of talking openly and straight about things and kept repeating I can't say this I'm not qualified just like you said I'm confident about Hazrat Adam that's how most of the Muslims are maybe his job in the mosque doesn't allow saying most things

The brother is speculating too much about matters of the unseen. Even Allah himself didn't mention most details cause its of no benefit for your deen, dunya or hereafter. Many lost the plot in overthinking and philosophizing these iussues untill shaytaan drove them out of the straight path or they even left religion all together. Snap out that it!

Perhaps there's a group out there who are placid and enjoy and have the luxury to live life in black and white. Equally there are others who very much enjoy reading and expanding their research and thought process and the freedom of the intellectual mind. He has said time and time again nothing is concrete; only Allah knows. It's not on him that ppl are silly enough to fall off the wagon because they don't know how to come back to Qur'an and sunnah.

What? Has nobody read Sahih Al Bukhari? Did I read the wrong book? What does he talk about when he says "we should not go back to old Islam"? The origin of Islam has never been to lock women into their homes, that has always been the force of the middle eastern culture- and their culture alone. Was it not our Prophet (peace be upon him) that spend years and years of his prophethood, trying to get into the heads of everyone that women are to be respected, and that they have rights? It was the people at that time who kept coming back with their sexist attitudes. There are hadiths where men complain to our prophet (saw) about women being to outspoken, not taking crap from anyone- and our Prophet (saw) just smiling into that. There were days Aisha was sulking and not talking to our Prophet (saw), and people being in shock that she had the audecity but our Prophet (saw) being understanding and compassionate of it. So what kind of Islam are you rejecting here when you say "we cant go back to the past"? There was never an Islam like that. The cultural aspect of diminishing women has stubbornly prevailed from the days of ignorance- thats exactly what it is. It is accepting the rights women have, it is being merciful to them and granting them freedom and space to live life and excel in their trials- thats what Islam always WAS, always IS, and always will be.
