bench testing a knitting machine carriage

When possible, we prefer to do a knit test before sending a machine home but the bench test comes before the knit test. If it isn't possible to have the whole machine, complete with bed on hand, sometimes a bench test is the only test. This is what that involves. Also included is some help in locating springs if you suspect a problem with one. Sometimes their location is not obvious.
