Folks, do yourself a favor and send your knives to Rob for professional service. I ruined two expensive knives by watching KZbin videos and trying to take my own knives apart and sharpen them myself. I sent Rob 3 knives very dull knives and got back three razors that were in optimal condition. Make sure you paid the extra $5 bucks for the knife spa treatment, you won’t be disappointed. I was going to get the Edge Pro myself and learn how to sharpen my own knives. Heck with that idea, I can send Rob a lot of knives for the $300 - $400 bucks it would take to set up my own Edge Pro. Rob, you are a genius and I will be sending you more knives very soon. Bless you and continue the good work!

Hey, great to hear from a fellow NE IN KZbinr! I completely understand the new Edgepro lack of comfort level. There is definitely an element of feel that comes over time with use. To answer your question, yes, you can absolutely sharpen the 1311 on the Edgepro. If you watch Ben's tutorial videos on the Edgepro website, he does sharpen a long knife. You'll actually move the blade along the table as you move the stones over the blade. I did my 10" Ontario SP-5 on it. I have a video on it.

Another great question I forgot to answer in the video :(. I'll edit the description to reflect the answer, and annotate the video. Thanks for thinking of this one, my friend. Generally, I'm able to turn a knife around within 3 days of receiving it, that is unless my backlog and/or other obligations prevent me from doing so. So, allowing time to ship both ways and for me to do the work, you should have your knife back in 7-10 days from date of shipment.

Regarding the issue of sharpening a blade and any metal dust or particles getting into the components. Before I sharpen, I open my knife and then push it into an old sock. I hold onto the knife handle inside with the sock covering everything but the blade. FWIW. Thought it worth sharing.

Hi Rob, first of all, you are by far my favorite KZbin knife reviewer and it is always a pleasure to watch your videos. I am new to the knife world but would like to learn how to sharpen my knives proficiently. So far I have used only a "work sharp" field sharpener. I have looked at various sharpening systems (Edge Pro, Spyderco, lansky, whetstones, work sharp, Wicked Edge, etc...) but I would greatly appreciate if you could point me in the right direction. Which system would you recommend? Thank you very much!

When you say something like Folders under 5" and fixed under 5" does that mean strictly blade length? Also, do you also sharpen axe heads?
@TheApostleP6 жыл бұрын
Yes, blade length from front of the handle to tip of the blade. I do axes, but they're usually cost prohibitive to ship. But I do them with a proper convex edge for $20 plus return postage.

Hello Rob, I am very interested in your sharpening service, and have a 940 to send you. I have sent a couple messages over YT and left a voicemail; I think the level of detail that you put into the sharpening process is fantastic, and I'd love to get that level of detail put on my 940. My intent is for the full service that you offer for folders. My questions are, do you prefer Paypal, or do you take the $31 in cash with the knife? Do you take specific edge angles, or have one you prefer for the 940? Thanks.

Hello good sir I live in Fort Wayne and have recently purchased the edge pro but am nowhere near comfortable doing certain things yet. I wanted to ask you if you think it's even possible to do a blade the size of a SYKCO 1311 on this thing.
@falfas55bgas11 жыл бұрын
Also, I use a video editing program called PowerDirector 11. One feature is that I can speed up video. I often find that I speak too slowly on a video and I can speed it up by 10 or 20% and it does not appear to be sped up but shortens the video length by 10 or 20%, which is advantageous to the viewer.

Rob, Have you upgraded to a wicked edge system yet? I know this video is older and not sure what you use now for sharpening. God bless
@TheApostleP3 жыл бұрын
No Wicked Edge for me. I find it not to be nearly as versatile in accommodating all shapes and sizes of blades as the Edgepro is. Ditto for the KME. I did upgrade to the Edgepro Professional about 8,000 knives ago, however. Not only is it almost infinitely versatile, but it allows for the creativity, inventiveness and skill of the user to impact the quality of the finished product. So in short, I don’t consider the Wicked Edge an upgrade at all. If I did, I’d own one.
